DATA COLLECTION
The data was collected in two different locations in Queensland, Australia, Helena Jones Community Correctional Centre and the Brisbane Women’s Correctional Center. At the latter correctional center, the inmates were interviewed as follow: five in 1999 and four in 2000 out of the 27 who were willing to take part in the interview. The exact date when the interviews in the first center took place it is not known, but it is known that there were 7 women inmates interviewed. In the beginning, there were many volunteers but only 16 in total were selected. (Danby, Farrell, & Carol, 2011, p. 5)
TARGETED GROUPS AND POPULATION
The targeted group was formed by women inmates in the two correctional facilities in Queensland, women who did not have the possibility to a full education before prison and who were open the talk about the access to education in the facilities they were imprisoned. (Danby, Farrell, & Carol, 2011, p. 2)

The fact that the inmates were not selected by the researchers made the interview more open and honest and only women who actually have something to say about the topic took part in it. If there were to choose who is able to be a part of the project, they would maybe find themselves in a situation where no one actually could answer their questions or no one was willing to do it.
