Everyone in their life goes through at least one heartache, or what some people may call a “heart break” or “heartbroken.” Life always throws things at you that you need to learn to deal with, through my experiences I have learned a few tricks to get through the bad times and come out as a stronger person. The first step you have to do is give yourself time to be sad. Give yourself at least two days where you can cry all you want, eat chocolate, lay in bed, let all those emotions pour out. After those two days, the number one thing to make your self feel better is to look your best. Its proven that if you make yourself look good, you start to feel good, it also brings back some of your confidence. The second step, make sure you surround yourself with people that make you happy and are able to talk to. Talking about how you feel to people you trust keeps yourself from keeping your emotions inside, because if that happens then your thoughts and emotions boil up inside until your going to have an emotional break down. ...“The Broken Heart” Analysis In John Donne’s poem, “The Broken Heart”, Donne shows the predacious nature of love and the true faintness of the heart through the use of metaphors. This poem sets a mood of despair and sorrow; moods that reveal the regret of love. It opens the reader’s eyes to realize just how vulnerable the heart can be when dealing with love. Donne associates love with the negative; he portrays it as some evil entity that overtakes people without warning and, if not careful, destroys them from the inside, out. In the first stanza of Donne’s poem, he describes how long the oh-so-terrible phenomenon of love lasts. He compares it to the plague and claims it has stuck with him for an entire year. But is there any additional truth to this saying? This study examines the medical implications of having a ‘broken heart’ by establishing a correlational relationship between the loss of a romantic partner and the mortality rates of widowers due to heart-related diseases. By tracking the mortality rates of 4,486 widowers of 55 years of age and older, over a period of 9 years, the researchers made some interesting findings: that within the first 6 months of bereavement, the mortality rate for widowers was 40% above that for matched controls, and that the greatest increase in mortality during these first 6 months came from heart-related diseases.
