... DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES ACTIVITIES | DESCRIPTION | Pen preparation | The chicken coop must be thoroughly cleaned and washed with water mixed with disinfectant. Cobwebs and other dust material were removed by the use of a broom. | Preparation of brooder | A thin layer of hydrated lime is advisable on dirt floors at this time to maintain dryness. Ensure that all feeders, drinkers and brooders have been washed and disinfected; and are all in proper working order. Check for, and seal off, all draughts, windows, doors, and do general building repairs. | Arrivals of chicks | Your birds could have been in transit up to 48 hours depending where you live. They will be thirsty. We recommend that the drinking water is cooler than the air temp., for the following reasons: If the water is very warm the birds do not realize that they will get wet and cold so they stand in it and get soaked this can lead to a disastrous pile up. Monitor the birds closely. It takes 2-3 hours for the birds to adjust to the brooder house temperature. How they appear when you first set them out may change drastically in this time period. Again monitor closely. If your birds appear chilled don't put them directly in the brooder house warm them in their box in your home under a heat lamp until they appear comfortable. Ensure that they have anti-biotic or an electrolyte/multi-vitamin in their water for the first 5 days. Meat birds will particularly benefit, from this. In addition you may chose...

...With well over 24,000 extant species currently known, the world's fishes comprise by far the largest and most diverse of all vertebrate groups. Occupying almost every conceivable aquatic habitat from high elevation mountain springs more than 5,000 meters above, to the ocean abyss some 7,000 meters below the surface of the sea, ichthyological variety in lifestyle, anatomy, physiology and behavior is unsurpassed among vertebrates. A diorama of a coral reef, from the American Museum of Natural History's Hall of Ocean Life. ©AMNH Fishes live in water, the original medium for life on Earth. Permanent gills, median fins supported by rays of cartilage or bone, and often paired fins, are all characteristics of fishes that allow them to live successfully in water. No fishes have limbs with digits. The diversity of forms among fishes provide evolutionary biologists with some of the best examples of natural selection, adaptation, divergence, speciation, and historical development of fauna on scales from regional to continental. Far from being the "dead-end" that we land-dwelling creatures tend to assume, fishes are extraordinarily diverse and their watery habitats provide a vast array of places in which to live and thrive. Fish species range in size from the smallest known living vertebrate, Trimmatom nanus, a goby, which is mature at a mere 8 millimeters, to the giant whale shark, Rhincodon...

A good temperature for chicks as what Jenna Woginrich wrote in “Mother Earth News” “You must keep chicks warm. Ninety to 95 degrees fahrenheit is the magic temperature range, and you’ll want the heat source working at least a day in advance to make sure the brooder warms up to and can maintain that temperature.” The first few weeks are the most delicate in times, these first weeks is usually when owners will loose the chicks to natural death or they...

... or doing, through games, pair work or individual work, etc - (one paragraph). Use appropriate standard letter/email phrases where applicable. Dear Ms. Nardin, I am writing this letter in order to introduce myself. My name is Dumitru Chicu, 23 years old and I was born in Republic Moldova where I have live till I was 16. When I was 16 I moved to Romanian for continuing my study. As a result of good study performance, participating at Olympiads in Chemistry and Biology I have received Romanian citizenship. I am a calm, organized person and also a hard worker. Moreover I have minus points which are shyness, communication issues, afraid of public and I cannot present. I would like to develop my English. First of all I would have a brooder vocabulary and especially to learn term from the industry which will help me to build my career. Secondly I would like to learn how to write correctly any forms of letters, emails, business reports, etc. From start I would like to focus more on grammar. I prefer to learn by doing. By doing I understand better and remember easily. I like to read book which I can understand with my current level off English. If the context of a book is not understandable for me I am losing motivation and I will never finish it! I like to listening but I am fast distracted by the noise. In my opinion this is the main overview over my personality. I really hope that this course and the study will help me to overcome my minuses. Kind regards, Dumitru...

...INTRODUCTION The echinoderm class Holothuroidea consists of sea cucumbers, which can be described as worm-like organisms with elongated, soft bodies. Like most echinoderms, holothuroids have 5 rows of tube feet along their bodies. These tube feet aid the animal in attachment, locomotion and respiration (Pearse et al. 1987). Within the class Holothuroidea, there are about 1250 species, and these are distributed among 200 genera (Smiley et al. 1991). There is much variety among the habitats in which sea cucumbers reside. Some species, like Cucumaria fallax, inhabit quiet, still waters, while others, such as C. miniata, are found in areas that are constantly swept by tidal currents (McEuen 1988). Some holothuroids are tropical reef dwellers (Uthicke 1997); others live in temperate or polar waters (Hamel and Mercier 1995). Even the depth at which these animals can be found varies greatly. Many species live within the intertidal zone, but a few sea cucumbers live deep in the ocean, some among hydrothermal vents (Smirnov et al. 2000). Regardless of the environment in which they are found, sea cucumbers have become highly adapted to life in that environment, especially in their reproductive cycles. Sea cucumbers can reproduce through sexual reproduction as well as asexual reproduction. Each mode of reproduction has several environmental factors that have been proposed to control its timing. This paper will first introduce the two types of reproduction found in sea cucumbers. I will then...

...Issues Facing Canadian Farmers Today Canadian farmers face many problems such as dealing with the effects of international subsidies. One of the problems that farmers face is the loss of farmland. Due to urban sprawl and rural non-farm development Canada is losing thousands acres of farmland annually. We need to protect our farmland because it’s the base for our agricultural economy. On top of that, our farmlands provide a healthy environment to our wildlife. The American farmland Trust, a nation-wide, not-for-profit agency is working on the preservation of farmland for many years now. They believe that there are four fundamentals to creating growth strategies that benefit farmers, urban dwellers and suburban residents. One, being communities must plan out a good framework that balances out all interest such as work and transportation. Two, being subsidies which support sprawl over top quality farmland must be eliminated. Three, being the support of private landowners must be enlisted to help create land conservation and smart growth strategies. All levels of government must support and commit themselves to the protection of preservation of farmland and open spaces. Canada has good farmland and to pave over it for communities is not right. To make an inch of good topsoil takes millions of years, so there is no way of getting our farmland once it’s lost to the urbanization sprawl. Another problem farmers face are the decline of the family farm and the growth of agribusinesses...

...Information Security BIS/320 Information Security Kroenke, D.M. (2012) states that SDLC or Systems development life cycle is a conventional method of information systems development. To survive in the market, Amazon Corporation have put major thrust on areas like research, development and building new information systems. SDLC process comes in different versions with varying number of steps. Some go for the eight step process while few prefer the seven step process. Another variation is the five step process which includes the following stages: System definition, Requirement analysis, Component design, Implementation and Maintenance. There is a subtle difference between a disaster and a threat. Heavy physical loss of computing machinery due to natural causes, assault or terrorist attacks come under the category of Disasters. Threats cover issues arising from human errors, malicious illegal acts and natural disasters. An instance of human error would be an unintentional or intentional shredding of data by employees. Events like a twister or flood beyond human control can disable all computing services indefinitely. With all these factors established, it is important to consider the steps to be taken in preparing for disasters ahead of development of plans (Kroenke, “Information Security Management,” 2012). The SDLC process which has been so strictly and exhaustively followed by Amazon can be...

...Future of Democracy in Africa With the aid of the book, State, Conflict, and Democracy in Africa, I will try to come up with some type of conclusion to the future democracy in Africa. These Africanists that I will mention in my paper have assessed that contemporary Africa has struggled to deal with false starts, unsatisfactory attempts to reconfigure power and varies political reforms. The first theoretical essay is written by Crawford Young on the Third Wave of Democratization in Africa. Young is a Political Scientist, who received a PhD from Harvard and he specializes in development and politics in developing countries, particularly Africa. His works are “The Politics of Cultural Pluralism” , “Ideology and Development in Africa” , and “The Rise and Decline of the Zairian State”. In his essay, Young offers insight on Africa's experimentation on political liberalization. Young starts off by talking about the “third wave” of democratization which hit Africa in 1989 which was seen as a global dynamic. Factors such as modernization, diffusion and power politics helped shaped this transition. In Africa there were deeper structural factors which started first with the economical field. “In dramatic contrast to the aggressive assertion of economic nationalism in the 1970s, a decade peppered with sweeping indigenization programs and widespread nationalism, the 1980 Organization of African Unity Lagos Plan of Action, and the blistering critique of African development performance...

...CHAPTER 1 THE PROBLEM: Rationale and Background Background of the Study Chickens play an important role in science, recreation, conservation, and agriculture. They are economically significant because of their value as research models, as pets and hobby animals and, of course, for their important role in food production. Chickens are very delicate and need special care in order to survive, grow, and become productive adults. Thinking about what chicks need before they arrive will help ensure a healthy flock of chickens. Chicks need a clean environment that protect them from drafts and keep them at the proper temperature. Their environment must provide them with constant access to food and water, and it should have proper flooring material, and be located in a safe place away from predators. Poultry animals are raised for home use or for profit, especially on a farm. The rearing of poultry and livestock solely as food is costly, because animals are positioned high in the food chain, meaning, that large amounts of energy have been lost en route; more simply, there are more calories in the fodder used to provide meat than in the meat itself. Chickens need different types of feeds at different stages of their growing period. Each different feed provides different levels of nutrients, protein and energy levels which the bird needs at different stages of their life. As the intake of feeds increase, there is also corresponding increase in intake of food supplement. The amount...

Mamac, CPA Submitted by: Dinging, Jessa Riel Llameg, Althea Nunez, Laulen Tan, Natasha Elysse Torrejos, Jessie Manuel Zosa, Kristhy May March 4, 2013 Ateneo de Davao University “Ang Saya sa MANOK na BISAYA” NATIVE DELIGHT (BISAYANG MANOK-“BISNOK”) A Feasibility Study on Poultry business in Davao City ABSTRACT This study aims to know the feasibility of Bisayang Manok as a poultry business in Davao City that may add to the supply to the excessive demand of bisayang manok in certain restaurants in the city. The chicken industry in the Philippines consists of commercial sectors and backyard sectors. Commercial sector includes hybrid chickens and broilers which occupies a larger percentage in country’s chicken supply and production. On the other hand, the backyard sector includes native chickens which has insufficient supply, yet has a high consumer demand in the market. The supply of native chickens in Davao City is not enough to meet the increasing demand of the consumers. Thus, the Native Delight wants to increase the production and supply of native chickens in the city. If the study turns to be feasible, for the meantime, the Native Delight will only...

...Bangladesh garment exports boom despite disasters Published July 09, 2013 AFP * In this photograph taken on June 23, 2010, Bangladeshi women sew clothes in a garment factory in Ashulia. Output from Bangladesh's accident-prone garment sector has increased in June, with demand from foreign retailers still growing despite the country's factory disaster in April. (AFP/File) DHAKA (AFP) – Output from Bangladesh's accident-prone garment sector increased in June, data showed Tuesday, with demand from foreign retailers still growing despite the country's factory disaster in April. At least 1,129 people were killed when the Rana Plaza factory complex collapsed outside the capital Dhaka in April, sparking demonstrations against Western brands and prompting some retailers to threaten to cancel orders. Government data released on Tuesday showed that the country's total exports -- 80 percent of which come from the garment sector -- soared by 16 percent year-on-year in June to $2.7 billion, following an increase of 15 percent in May. "The disasters didn't have much impact. They are scattered incidents," head of the government's Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Shuvhashish Bose told AFP, referring to the Rana Plaza tragedy and other factory fires that have killed another 130 workers since November. Total exports from Bangladesh, the second-biggest clothing manufacturer in the world after China, grew by 11 percent to a record $27.02 billion in the 2012-13 financial year to June. ...

...CHAPTER ONE 1.1 INTRODUCTION A casual look at the published empirical work in business and econometric will reveal that many economic relationships are of single –equation type. In such models, one variable (the dependent variable Y) is expressed as a linear function of one or more other variables (the explanatory variables, the X’s). An implicit assumption is that the cause and effect relationship, if any , between Y and X’s is unidirectional. The explanatory variables are the cause and the dependent variable is the effect . However, there are situations where there is a two- way or simultaneous relationships between Y and some of the X’s which makes the distinction between the dependent and the explanatory variables of dubious value. It is better to lump together a set of variables that can be determined simultaneously by the remaining set of variables- precisely what is done in simultaneous equation models. In such models, there is more than one equation - one for each of the mutually or jointly dependent or endogenous variables. And unlike the single equation models, in the simultaneous equation models, one may estimate the parameters of a single equation without taking into account information provided by the other equation in the system. In a simultaneous equation system, variables that appear only on the right – hand side of the equation are called exogenous or predetermined variables. They are truly independent or non-stochastic because they remain fixed. Variables...
