Brudibar is a children’s opera that was performed during the Nazi Era. The composer for this group was a Jewish Czech composer named Hans Krasa, with lyrics written by Adolf Hoffmeister. This opera was no more than 40-minutes long and was performmed by children from the Jewish orphanage. In July, 1943, the score of Buridibar was smuggled into camp where it was re-orchestrated by Krasa for instrumentalists who were still able to play at the time. Since this score was a huge hit, Nazi’s aranged the score for a propoganda film. This same production was performed for the inspection of Terezin by the International Red Cross.
