Bshs/322 Values, Beliefs, Clinical Gestalt with Individuals, and Systems

...Values, Beliefs, Clinical Gestalt with Individuals, and Systems University of Phoenix I am learning as much as I can about myself through the journal entries, exercises, and team discussion questions to better myself as a future therapist or clinician. To be productive and effective I must recognize, and accept my strengths and weaknesses with an attitude of striving for excellence. I have learned a great deal about myself and the areas where I can improve in the clinical setting. I realize that with improvement there will be challenges. I will overcome these challenges by utilizing the knowledge I am obtaining in these series of classes. My Values and Beliefs All the choices and decisions I have made in my life are based on my values and belief system. My parents strived to teach me the best values and to instill wholesome values. I was raised to always know a person can not be judged on what is seen, but by what you learn of them. In a clinical atmosphere I believe I can put these lessons to use. I know not to judge a person based on their situation as each person has a story that has led to where they are today in life. There are certain issues that I have an opinion about that I know I will have to set aside in order for my client to benefit. A few of these issues are abortion, molestation, rape, and murder. Realize every situation has a story behind it and I need to be able to hear the story so that I can help my client in need. My Clinical...

Informed Consent Summery Report

...Informed Consent Summary Report students??? BSHS/ 322- Professional, Ethical, and Legal Issues in Human Services Prof. Theresa Edwards The four elements of informed consent are competence, voluntariness, full information, and comprehension. In order to fully understand your rights you must possess the following criteria’s. If a person is not informed, they are unable to make a justified decision regarding their situation and therefore, can be misled and potentially make a determination that is not fully based on facts. The Kids in Crisis Agency takes confidentiality very serious and is a vital part of the intake process for the residents and individuals who are to become employed here. Informed consent documents here imply that all information that is provided to the agency will remain confidential aside from certain specific guidelines. This is important because individuals who come to the agency, are in crisis for a variety of different reasons. There are things they may be interested in telling a clinician or crisis worker but want to ensure privacy. These documents make them feel secure in releasing that information. There are times however when confidentiality can and should be violated. When a person presents as a threat to themselves or others, this needs to be reported to the appropriate individuals. When a person discloses that they have been harmed or hurt, this needs to be reported. This is explained during any intake procedure and also explained to the individual...

It is a study that is part of the good and bad in the moral or the right and wrong behavior. Being a case manger you run into all types of ethical decisions making. Now I must say that I am involve in a case where I have been working with a man who has a long history of marrying women and not obtaining a divorce before marrying the next woman. We have had several conversation about him doing those types of things and that is was unethical but, it did not seem to matter to him even when I told him it was against the law. Beliefs, Values, and Clinical Gestalt with Individuals and Systems

...My Beliefs, Values, and Clinical Gestalt with Individuals and Systems Stephanie Ramsdale BSHS/322 November 7, 2011 Tracy Newman My Beliefs, Values, and Clinical Gestalt with Individuals and Systems The variety of things I have been learning about my personal and professional assumptions in regards to clinical helping have been vast. I didn’t realize how much of what I personally believe would need to be put aside for the betterment of the client. I was unaware of the many elements involved when conducting an interview. For example, focused attending which has two main components, psychological attending and physical attending. Psychological attending requires the ability to put our own personal issues aside and completely focus on the needs of the client. Physical attending requires various components. Gerard Egan (1994) created an acronym stating the five components involved in physical attending they are as follows: S-sit squarely O-open posture L-lean forward E-eye contact R-relax Not only was I unaware of the various elements in conducting an interview I hadn’t given any thought to the various locations an interview could take place. I simply assumed these interviews would be done in the office of the clinician. I didn’t realize that many times these interviews would be in a vehicle, school, or other public place. Clinical Listening is another important aspect of conducting an appropriate interview. It is important...

Dynamics of Ethics (Euthanasia)

...Dynamics of Ethics L. M. BSHS/322 Professional, Ethical, and Legal Issues In Human Service June 23, 2012 Dynamics of Ethics In today’s society many individuals are faced with having to choose between what is ethical and what is not. One thing that a remains pressing as it relates to ethical issues are the dynamics that surrounds them. In this paper I would like to discuss the current issues surrounding euthanasia. Implementing euthanasia comes with many compelling arguments, often times this issue involves individuals rights, politics, ethics, and religion. Although this debate is far from over I would like to take an objective view and discuss the ends and outs of euthanasia. Attempts to authorize euthanasia and assisted suicide have occurred in “the U.S for the last twenty years (Euthanasia in the United States Wikipedia, 2012).” For illustration in 2005 Religious Leaders committed to standing firm in their beliefs by stating “assisting suicide and euthanasia will radically change the social air we all breathe by severely undermining respect of life (Euthanasia in the United States, 2012).” Clearly leaders at this time strongly opposed allowing suffering individuals the right to end their life. “In 2006 The House of Lords blocked a bill that would allow terminally ill people to be helped to die” (BBC Ethics, 2012). This particular bill led to a heated discussion on whether or not it is right to allow people to take their own life. Joffe stated in a pressing debate that...
