The program will take a manager through every possible scenario to ensure they can feel confident that they followed the correct steps and maintained a high level of professionalism. ...I. Summary In the year between 1999 and 2001, Dick Brown was hired as the CEO and chairman of EDS (Electronic Data Services) Corporation which was one of the largest players in IT outsourcing to turn around EDS from down profits, flat revenues, indecisiveness, poor accountability, and organizational structure that did not fit its environment. Brown places a strong focus on the customer to provide them meaningful derive value. In order to achieve this new mission, he built skills in e-commerce areas and especially, aggressively chased mega-outsourcing contracts. There are three highlights of the long-term mega-contracts of EDS: 1) Mega-outsourcing contracts can lock in revenue streams for a significant period of time, for example, 10 years. However, these contracts involved in large amount of up-front outlays, which are typically debt financed, and wait for cash flow to pay them off. At the same time, the cost related to running the client’s data processing operation for the contract period was locked in. 2) The price of the contract is negotiable with clients. Typically, the contract price decreased over the like of the contract. Moreover, if there were large discrepancies existing when comparing with EDS competitors, the clients can negotiate a lower contract price or cancel the contract. In this case, EDS was not reimbursed any up-front cost. 3) Economic downturn and other events would reduce EDS’ contractual revenues. Brown changed the internal environment...

A kinesthetic learner might be able to collaborate by building constructive activities, such as posters, sculptures, and boards. Another learning style is logical learning. A logical learner uses reasoning and organization of material rationally. A perfect way to communicate with a logical learner is to explain the subject in a sequentially order. ...Penn Foster Exam 02800502 When Miss Hilo went on medical leave four months ago, her work was distributed among the executives, which has resulted in decreased professionalism from our assistants. Since then, there have been several discussions with employees regarding ways to increase productivity and office moral, without incurring over-time hours or further cost. We have concluded that there is a need to re-direct some of the workload from Mrs. Disselkoen, part-time assistant: back to Mr. Snyder, full-time assistant. For Mr. Snyder to retain his full-time hours, all work relating to Miss Hilo would be forwarded to him. Following, Mrs. Disselkoen assures us she will return to a high level of proficiency with her original workload, within her part-time schedule. To keep you informed, minutes from additional discussions would be passed on to you. After speaking with Miss Hilo, although not confirmed until her medical leave has concluded, I am under the impression she will not be returning to her position. With that in mind, as well as time constraints, I believe it is necessary to begin the process of seeking her replacement. In order for Executives Mr. Frank Daley and Mr. R. Alane to preserve their work standards, the added workload they’ve taken on should be considered temporary, therefore, with minimal effort and cost, a company-wide email and interoffice memos should be sufficient in recognizing employees aspiring to a promotion. If Miss Hilo returns to her position and...

Target customers are typically, “middle- to upper-middle-income shopper who is fashion and value conscious and fits the same profile as a department or specialty store shopper.” The DesignerFinder appeals to the needs of this same group of shoppers. Because The DesignerFinder is a smart phone application the target market must own smart phones in order for it to be successful. With in the middle to upper-middle-income demographic that TJX already attracts 59% of people own smart phones. The target age range of a TJX customer is anywhere from 13-65, The DesignerFinder will more specifically attract shoppers between the ages of 13-45, which increases the use of smart phones within the target market to 76%. Additionally not every shopper needs a smart phone to use The DesignerFinder because often people shop in groups with their family or friends and only one person would need to have a smart phone for the rest of their party to be able to use the application. Ethical Situations in Buiness

...Ethical Situations In Business Task 1 Amanda Carlier Western Governors University Company Q is a small local grocery store operating in a major metropolitan area, currently behaving in a negative way in terms of being socially responsible. Recently Company Q has made some changes and closed two of their stores operating in high-crime rate areas due to losing money. Instead of trying to mediate the problem, they have a negative impact on the community by taking away jobs from members of the surrounding area. This shows no commitment to the consumers. They have also added some high-margin items of organic and health-conscious products, only after receiving years of requests from customers. Selling these items could increase profits helping in an economic way but also satisfying the customer’s wants and increasing customer loyalty. When asked about donations for the area’s food bank of day-old products, management declined instead opting to waste them and throw them out due to worries of possible fraud and theft from employees. Giving back to the community is an important philanthropic aspect of social responsibility and Company Q’s actions go against this. Company Q has a lackluster attitude of doing their part of being socially responsible and needs to install changes to be seen in a positive light. Company Q could remedy their current situation of a negative attitude towards social responsibility in many ways. Company Q said they closed two of their stores due to profit...

Small Buiness Idea

...Small Business Idea Katrina Le`Vere University of Phoenix ACC 561 July 17, 2012 Samuel G. Smith Introduction Starting a business requires a decision governing what form of business organization the company or corporation should operate under. This decision must be made before the business has actually begun operations. The owner must make two initial decisions in order to begin their business operation: the type of business entity to be used and where the business assets will come from. The decision depends on several factors, including the capital requirements of the business, the flexibility of management decisions, costs of formation, government restrictions, and tax considerations. Sole proprietorship, partnerships, corporations, and S-corporations are four legal forms of business organization an entrepreneur may consider when forming a business. (Sitarz, 21) Advantages and Disadvantages of the four business forms of organization The most common and simplest form of business organization is sole proprietorship. It is the least regulated of all types of business structures. Sole proprietorship is the traditional unincorporated one-person business. The advantages of sole proprietorship are: less expensive to start up, owners have full control over management decisions, owners receive the profits, and they can transfer or sell the business at their discretion. Some disadvantages to choosing sole proprietorship...

Critical Essay. the Poor Economic Climate in the Uk and the Affect's on the Marketing Mix of a Start-Up Retail Venture in the High Street.

...Assignment 1 Critical Essay Introduction: This essay will attempt to critically explain how the poor economic climate in the UK might affect the marketing mix of a start-up retail venture in the high street. This essay will walk through the processes of starting a retail business venture in the high street and discuss how the economy and the marketing mix directly effects each step. To do this it will be vital to explore the current economic climate and what a poor economic climate means? A definition of a poor economic climate “a recession is a decline in growth, domestic product for two consecutive quarters and a depression as a prolonged recession resulting in falling prices, reduced purchasing power, excess in supply, unemployment, and a general reduction in business activity” (Downes,j.,& Goodman,J.E.(1995).Dictionary of finance and investment terms Hauppage,nj:Barron’s educational series) This has been the case for the UK since 2007 as we are in what is known as a double dip recession narrowly escaping a triple dip recession. (BBC News 2013, http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-22290407) This downturn indicates that the UK is indeed suffering from a poor economic climate having the effect of less spending and so less trade occurring in the local, regional, continental, or global marketplace. How this relates to a start up venture in the high street has both negative and positive effects. To look at each of these effects it is best to look at the entire...
