Introducing the Chicago Bulls The National Basketball League is where dreams become a reality for some athletes. This organization is referred to by most people as the “NBA”. There are 30 teams in the NBA and only a few that have a winning track record. The Chicago Bulls has not only won 6 Championships, but they are the leading NBA team right now with a record of 62-20 with 62 wins and only 20 losses. The history of this team has had its share of wins and losses but there foundation is strong and growing. This team has had a huge impact on the sports here in Chicago, IL. The beginning of the Chicago Bulls Era began in 1966. This was the year this organization was founded and began. When the team began playing they were not strong enough to have a full team so they began as an expansion team. Expansion teams are teams that pick up players that are not currently on regular teams. The Chicago Bulls were the first team to ever have an expansion team and believe it or not the team did so good they made it to the playoffs. Pg. 2 During the 1970-1971 basketball seasons, the Bulls finally began to win. They struggled a lot and they finally got a player that was good. He was known as a player that was not scared of no one or nothing. Norm Van Lier was the player the Bulls got and he could play. Along with another Chicago Bull Player whose name is Bob Love was two of the toughest basketball players in the league. They beat teams and they were not easy to play. At the time, these two players together made it hard for other teams. Finally, in 1975 the Chicago Bulls won their first division title. This was a huge win for the team that struggled for so many years before. Pg. 3
Michael Air Jordan Arrives

When Michael Jordan arrived to the Chicago Bulls, the year was 1984. Another star was added to the team and that was Scottie Pippen in 1987. In the beginning the team did not do as well as most thought they would. Injuries and game losses were things that held them back from winning. Just like most teams, they struggled and had to adjust to each other. They began picking up more
Pg. 4 players for this new exciting and young team. They also got Horace Grant and the team started winning and Jordan started averaging at least 35 points per game. This was amazing because this new team was young and strong. The 1980’s had a lot of changes for the Chicago Bulls. They had already got Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen and Horace Grant. Next, they began adding more players that would help them to continue to win. Bill Cartwright and Craig Hodges came aboard and things got even better. A new coach came also who replaced the existing coach and his name is Phil Jackson. He brought basketball skills because he used to play professional ball for 13 years. His experience helped the team win and become one of the toughest teams to ever play basketball.

The Beginning of a Championship

History began during the 1990’s for the Chicago Bulls Organization. They had one of the best coaches, some of the very best players and they had a winning streak that no other team could beat. This team had a winning streak and they began breaking records with these wins. For example, they were one of the only teams that ever won 60 or more of their regular season games. By 1992 they had won 2 Championship games and were unstoppable. The following year the Bulls did not win as many games, but they won the Championship once again for what

Pg. 6 we all Chicagoans know as the “Three-Peat”. Many teams feared them but it didn’t matter because they couldn’t beat them. After all these wins and such a powerful team, you would think that there is nothing that could stop this team. Well Michael Jordan decided in 1993, Michael Jordan decided he wanted to retire. Could the Chicago Bulls go on without him? Everyone was shocked including team players and the fans. Fans were upset and disappointed. Now with Jordan leave, the team had to rely on Scottie Pippen. He worked hard and had help from one strong point guard BJ Armstrong. They tried hard and won a lot of games, but they could not pull it off and win the fourth championship. The Michael Jordan retirement and leave proved that they needed his help. Finally in 1994 Michael Jordan returned to the Chicago Bulls. His return helped the team, but this return did not bring that fourth Championship. One of the key

Pg. 7 strong players from their past wins was Horace Grant. He had left and this was now a weakness for the Chicago Bulls that they had a hard time getting past. From 1995-1997, the Bulls got back together and won 3 more Championships for a total of 6 Championships led by Michael Jordan. Who could stop the Chicago Bulls? They were unbeatable and anyone that got in their way, they beat. One of the last great players that were added to this Championship team was Dennis Rodman. He was the added strong player they needed for rebounds and defense.

After six championships, Michael Jordan retired again. This time the team had also loss their coach Phil Jackson and the team was never the same again. The championship era had finally ended. New players came along but in the history of the Chicago Bulls, there has never been a team like the 6 time Championship Chicago Bulls. At the current time, our Chicago Bulls are leading the league right now with the best record of the East. Derrick Rose is one our new key players and he is taking this team to the playoffs this year. We have a huge chance to win our 7th Championship Ring.
