One thing that confused me about this chapter is that on page 320, Burroway suggests that statements such as “I don’t like this” count as constructive criticism, but on the very next page, she says that “the more specific the criticism you offer—or receive—the more useful it proves”, leading me to think that specific statements are constructive. “I don’t like this” is not specific at all, so her ideas seemed contradictory to me. Then again, I never saw constructive criticism as “positive suggestions” (320), as Burroway implies most people do. I always saw it as criticism that’s specific or informative, regardless of whether it’s positive or negative, rather than vague or useless. I see someone saying “This is amazing” or “This story sucks”
