...of imagination with the purpose of gaining happiness or life’s true meaning. Imagination is something which is unique to ever individual on earth past or present, because like the world we live in, imagination is in constant change, adaption and always learning. When unlocked and encompassed with the power of the mind, imagination can achieve endless means in theory. For an artist this may be a chance to create something new, something colourful or perhaps even dark. For a scholar it creates a chance of expression through words. Right to expression however, is key to any successful contemporary or classical work most importantly. Whether for good or bad intentions it creates the basis for which to explore and perhaps even indulge. A blank canvas creates a new beginning. Like a second chance in life, an empty sheet can give an individual a new beginning and allows him/her to forget the past, it is no longer relevant, unless the artist depicts it that way. If it were not for blank canvases nothing new would ever be imagined just simply copied, tweaked and regurgitated in another...

...form of the fruit. However, this painting is nothing less than sophisticated demonstrating Manet’s true command of color and touch with his brush. The painting is encompassed by dull, dark colors with sporadic brightness. Manet uses different forms of yellow to capture the color, shape, and texture of the lemon. The sudden brightness in the painting can be seen as the natural reflection that the lemon and the plate give off. He also utilizes dark browns mixed with green to reflect the depth and texture of the plate. His brush strokes are different throughout the painting. At times the brush strokes are hard and streaky, and at other times very clean. The painting is open composition, with the plate that the lemon is resting on going off the canvas. The lemon is horizontally depicted, with a strong shallow sense of...

...Ancient Art AIU Online: HUMA205 Abstract This is an essay that will analyze two important works of ancient art. They will be analyzed in terms of their form, subject matter and content. It will explain how these two art works fit into the time period they were made. Using the terminology and concepts of evaluating art, this paper will compare the two pieces of art in consideration with their style, symbolism and meaning of them. The first work of ancient art chosen for this assignment is The House with the Cracked Walls by Paul Cézanne (1839–1906). It was painted between the years of 1892 and 1894 with oil on a canvas. It is a painting of a house scenario surrounded by trees, rocks and grass. The house looks abandoned or not lived in. Some will say that it is a romantic scenery of solitude and intensity. It is a painting of deep imagination and creativity: the sky is intense and empty, the ground is unstable and steep, the horizon is irregular, and the trees seem agitated as well as the rising appearance of the ground. The balance of the painting starts with the cracked house because this effect leads down to the rocks, the ground and the lines and cracks on the trees. The shadows and dark colors create balance as well: earthly colors of greens, greys, tans, blues and browns. The vertical shape of the entire painting gives it a pressed together look with the ground rising up to the house and trees that are rising up to the sky. Symbolism, in my opinion, is greatly used...

...Title: Mu Nu (Mother and Daughter) Artist: Hung Lui Medium: Oil on Canvas Description I chose to write about Hung Liu, Mu Nu (Mother and Daughter). The painting by Hung Lui in 1997; Liu used oil on canvas as her medium. The result is a timeless 80 x 140 inch by inch painting that is currently housed in Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, Museum. The roughly 7 by 11 foot painting shows two women hunched over, ropes tied around their waist, strain on hands and knees to pull a heavy load. The point of this searing image, which calls to mind slavery and extreme poverty, is that they’re performing the labor of oxen or machines. The lack of shoes, tools, and simple cloths reinforce the depiction of poverty. The negative space is filled with a large, ghostly looking, shallow body of water and a crowd of earthy colored rocks. Analysis From experiences in China, starting at the age of five, Hung Liu used memories, sketches, and photos to create this figurative oil painting. Painted from a photo, the two women are depicted in washed-out grays; she uses shades of gray for the mother and darker more predominant colors for the clothing and skin of the daughter. While the background landscape contains more vibrant colors. She uses horizontal lines to create a pattern of continuation or beginning to end of a rock path. Rocks, water, as well as the mother to daughter stretching left to right on the canvas. There is also a rhythm of moving forward created by the raise of...

...Komisar means that business, at its core, is more about the creation of the product and service. Living in a capitalistic society, it is easy to lose sight about the goal of living. The goal of life should not be financial success, but creation- creation of memories, kindness, and knowledge and in the case of business, tangible goods or services. The question when you embark on any business venture should be: what are you trying to accomplish? That answer should not be money. Why? Because when money is the motivator the real purpose of business is lost. In the book, we see this with Lenny. When his initial idea and passion become diluted by the financials, Komisar urges him to rethink why he started in the first place. I personally believe that creative drive and personal expression are needed for a truly successful business. When I buy a product that I believe has true value- I can feel the passion and creative expression the creator put into it. When Lenny comes back to the valley with Circle-of-Life.com, a real product is created. This product will be successful because it’s not about the numbers, but what it will create for people. This statement is why I changed my opinion about business school. I was so concerned that a degree in business meant I was selling my soul. I learned that business can be about the money if you let it be. Ultimately I have a decision when it comes to choosing whom I work for or what I want to create. Business is not black and white. It really...
