A business or government agency would need to consider a variety of important possibilities and consequences before transferring a hardy but nonindigenous species to another country. From worrying about how the environment around the species would be inevitably affected or the result of other people’s lives based off of this decision to the unforeseen “what-ifs” that lie beneath the surface, there are serious factors that either a business or government agency would need to consider. One of the most concerning factors of introducing species that are not indigenous to an environment is that a person can never know exactly every species that pre-exists in an area and what the consequences of the interactions of the two can mean. An example of this is when SARs, a respiratory illness broke out in 2003. As a result, the US Department of Health and Human Services banned import of civets. This was because scientists discovered wild animal traders could contract infection directly from civets, so there was no limitation to where or whom the disease began and continued.
