Business Ethics Introduction
Business Ethics are moral principles that guide the way a business behaves. The same principles that determine an individual’s actions also apply to business. Business ethics also defined as what is right and wrong, and outline the kind of behavior to know that which businesses should not engage in. For responsible decision making in a business environment, a good set of ethics is main key of trust and success.

Business ethics are often guided by law, while other times provide a basic framework that businesses may choose to follow in order to gain public acceptance. Business ethics are implemented in order to ensure that a certain required level of trust exists between consumers and various forms of market participants with businesses. For example, a portfolio manager must give the same consideration to the portfolios of family members and small individual investors. Such practices ensure that the public is treated fairly.
The benefits of running an ethical businesses includes helps to attract new customers, builds higher customer loyalty, improve company efficiency, avoid negative impacts and others which beneficial to the company and third parties. To run a sustainable business, having a high set of ethics is critical and there can be serious consequences if poor ethical decisions are made.

About the assignment, the topic that we selected among the four category which is ‘Sexual Harassment offences at workplace’ which brings negative impacts to the company.

About Sexual Harassment Offences at Workplace
Nowadays, sexual harassment is most commonly happens no matter where you are. This is a negative behavior that happen in between female and male where sexual harassment is not limited by gender because they can’t control themselves. The victim or the harasser may be a man or a woman, and her or his victim does not have to be of the opposite sex. Additionally, harassers do not have to be the victim’s direct supervisor; he or she could be a co-worker, a supervisor in another area, or even a person not employed in the victim’s workplace. In fact, a victim of sexual harassment does not necessarily have to be the person directly being harassed; the victim could be negatively affected by the offensive conduct in such a way to make the conduct illegal.
This negative behavior could be expected a person feel offended and annoyed. Sexual harassment includes unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors and other verbal or physical conductivity. Some people misused the power and trust that who use them as an opportunity to involve in sexual harassment.
Sexual harassment is against the law and unexpected to be happen no matter who you are. There are few types of sexual harassment may also be offences under criminal law and should be reported to the police, including indecent exposure, stalking, sexual assault and obscene or threatening communications, such as phone calls, letters, emails, text messages and postings on social networking sites. Sexual harassment claims should be reported in any case, but reporting is especially important when the harassment turns physical. Physical harassment is serious and often dangerous.
There will be few examples of sexual harassment and recommendations to help and avoid these harasser.

Examples & Recommendations 1. Discussion of Negative Topic
The first example of sexual harassment is discuss about dirty topic in between male and female which opponent that doesn’t want to listen or heard. People who discuss about dirty topic will influence others in workplace that they cannot accept the fact that someone doing this in workplace. Some people didn’t experience this environment and never heard of something negative since their education life until now and they will feel sensitive to hear this kind of topic. This will cause demovation to employees that being insulted which will affect company results and give bad image to company if third parties that witnesses or spread out.

Recommendation
In order to avoid being insulted, there will be solution to avoid this situation. For example, if a person is insulted, try to stay a certain distance away from them. If a person getting insulted again or getting worst, each employees have the rights to inform by writing a complaint letter to the upper line level like managers. For an organization, there will always be sexual harassment policy for every employees that to protect his or her privacy from being annoyed or disturbed.

2. Physical Contact
The second example of sexual harassment is physical contact which in negative way describes the act of physically touching one another without asking permission. Most workers know the rules about inappropriate or offensive touching in the workplace, many people don't think twice about other forms of physical contact with co-workers like handshakes or pats on the back. When a victim is touched in an inappropriate way. Most importantly, the victim is touched against his or her will. The example of inappropriate way is hugging a person without permission. When a person has fallen victim to physical harassment, they often feel robbed of something. Victims can often feel shameful and vulnerable in many other situations after harassment has occurred.

Recommendation
Some people are very sensitive to physical contact where there will be always solution to solve this problem. If a person getting touched, try to confront to the harasser explain that the conduct is offensive that makes you feel intimidated or uncomfortable. If the problem still persist, ask the harasser to stop touching you or else you could report to manager or police. Always make sure that your message to the harasser is clear enough because if a sentence is not clear, harasser will misunderstood your words and make things worse.

3. Staring in an offensive manner

The third example is staring others in an offensive manner where mostly women does not expect men to stare at them in a negative manner. Staring or leering in an inappropriate way is considered under sexual manner which is a bad habit that disrespect other’s people privacy. Staring can actually cause a serious cases where people will misunderstood that if a person looking for few seconds at the wrong spot that they shouldn’t see. Some victim will feel very sensitive that if someone looking at him or her in an inappropriate way and they will whether move to other company or stay away from these harasser. For example, when some people looking their things in the cabinet, they have to kneel down and search for their desire thing. In that case, under the influence of these movements and angles can cause you to be sexual harassment. In some company, employees can wear informal uniform as they like and so they can wear shorts that looks attractive and draw attention by others.

Recommendation
To avoid from people staring, one must have to behave a good behavior or image to others where others will repay what you did to them and treat you in a respectable way. As a female, avoid wearing too revealing clothes like shorts even though the weather is hot. They must always beware of the personality that not to move fast or big steps especially wearing skirts where easily to be exposed. People who has the right of staring at someone and what they like because staring a person in an appropriate way that it’s hard to get evidence unless there’s witnesses or video recorder to capture the actions of the starrer.

4. Displaying or sharing pornography

The fourth example is displaying or sharing pornography in workplace where it is prohibited and should be received warning letter for the people who did it. This is most commonly happen with the man where they can’t control or hold themselves and started this unexpected action in the workplace. Nowadays, technology have makes pornography easier to access at work where they can access through laptop computers, cellphones and other portable devices have made it easier for risk-takers to visit such websites undetected. This is a serious misconduct that an employee would receive a dismissal letter from the company.

Recommendation
As a director or a manager of a company, they must have create a clear policies to undergo these problems. If any employees against these policies will receive letter which clarify that the punishment will be dismissal. So they will know how to beware of their behavior not to do this in the company. Manager must always monitor employees action where if a person done mistake so that they can guide them to a right path and think positively to motivate them.

5. Making derogatory gestures or through body movements

The fifth example is making misunderstood gestures to one another. Sometimes a co-worker or supervisor is trying to be funny or does not realize that the behavior is offensive. Each gestures have different meaning. However, non-verbal gestures may constitute sexual harassment if the behavior is sexual in nature and makes you uncomfortable, even if the gestures are not specifically aimed at you. Obscene gestures may be part of a pattern of offensive behavior, or they may be used to silently harass someone without witnesses. For example of gestures like adjusting your clothes, biting nails, fidgeting, touching your face and toying with something in your hands can all be interpreted negatively. It is important to document every instance of such behavior and to report it to the company. Recommendation To avoid misunderstood by others, first you should explain what this gestures that you make represent and the reason why you show this gestures to them in order to avoid problems happen. As an employee always learn to communicate with others by speaking because showing gestures is not good enough to explain and people may misunderstood.

Conclusion
To be conclude that sexual harassment activity is prohibited and shouldn’t be exist in business world. Sexual harassment can cause serious matters to company which may influence many inside or outside of the workplace. This will reduce the reputation of the company as well as harasser and create bad image to others which make others think negatively. As a business person, we must be well-behaved and ethically commit to the business work. Always think positively and motivate oneself with others in order to perform well in the company and produce a good result to company. Because if one small mistake was made it can cause a bad impact to the company and everyone is looking down at you and even company if it’s worst.

When we first met, we divided the project into equal parts and set a due date for the written parts. One thing that we could have worked on would be to have more meetings. Another aspect our group could have improved on would be communication within our group.
