...My Business Research Experience Business research is an extremely valuable operation that must be conducted by every business if they want to succeed and grow. Knowing and understanding your customers or industry takes a lot of research that will uncover good and bad things, I think there is no such thing as bad information. Any type of information regarding your business or industry that you are in is going to be either informative or extra information, either way it can used at sometimes or another. In my experiences business research has assisted me from buying unwanted items, using better sources for purchase and making better decisions when looking for new items or supplies. I am a small business owner, my wife and I own and operate an online women’s shoe company called Pizarro Collection. This is our first year in business; we started this business in Jan, 2014. We have been blessed with success thus far and still are charging hard. The idea for this business did not come easily; it took hours and hours of research and decision making. The research at the beginning was mainly about where we would buy the shoes from and how much are we willing to pay per shoe or per box. Looking up different websites, comparing the same shoe on 10 different to find the best deal, all took time. We also researched the name of our business, questions that came up were: it is taken? , is it catchy or classy enough? , all these questions came up that we had to research. The hardest at first...

...Incorporated, 2011). Every person has ethics that he or she lives by, but sometimes in the business world many unethical business transactions occur. People do not realize that sometimes the statistics that he or she are fed have been falsified in order to get him or her to purchase a product or lure him or her in to participate in via false promises. The ideas of an unethical business practices to gain a statistical advantage is not a new idea. As a countries economy grows the population begins to see more unethical business practices. One such practice is skewing the research results. The way this is done is my taking the information that is given about a certain product or service and misrepresenting it to make it look like it is a great choice. This technique completely changes the research and twists it in the favor of the product without the consumer knowing what is going on. As economies begin to boom these practices are seen more often. Medical research is one example of where the statistics could be misleading if they are spun in the favor of the drugs companies. When people go to the doctors he or she expect the best care that his or her money pays for, but sometimes medical reports can be misleading. The healthcare industry is a billion dollar a year empire and there are many people that are out to make money. According to the article Misleading Reporting of Research Results: a Widespread Problem the author talks about how many people who report on the...

...Business Research Ethics William Stadler RES/351 04/15/2015 Jonte Lee Business Research: Ethical Research Guidelines When performing research the idea behind this process is developing new ideas from information gathered that not obvious or able to be seen by the human eye. “Forward-thinking executives recognize that analytics may be the only true source of sustainable advantage since it empowers employees at all levels of an organization with information to help them make smarter decisions” (Cooper & Schindler, 2014, Chapter 1, Research in Business, Learning Objectives). It is important for managers to have access to as much information as possible in order to perform business research and it is equally important for management to do business research in an ethical manner. The following paper will discuss an article called Business research in India, summarize what unethical research practices should be avoided, which parties could face injury or what injuries could occur to these parties, how unethical behavior could affect the organization, individual, and society, and how unethical behavior could be monitored or resolved if found occurring. Business Research in India and Ethical Research Guidelines The purpose of the article, Business research in India, was to study the progress of business research done in India. ...I got an A on the paper. Business Research Ethics Elizabeth McUne RES/351 January 14th, 2013 Abdulhamid Sukar Business Research Ethics In the article “Conflicted Medical Journals and the Failure of Trust” the issue of pharmaceutical businesses and their research, and how it is presented is outlined. The article covers one of the largest controversies with business research conducted by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and how the results were skewed and then reported by many medical journals as fact, even though the research did not support what was reported. The study was GSK 329, which showed a particular drug to be effective in adolescents with depression, even though the testing showed otherwise. (Jureidini & McHenry, 2011) The biggest unethical behavior that was demonstrated by GSK, and medical journals was the skewing of results of a study. Medical journals published articles that misrepresented the findings of GSK’s research. Internal reports by the company showed that their trials of the drug had failed to benefit adolescents with depression, and positively showed that there were negative results. (Jureidini & McHenry, 2011) The internal report states that “it would be commercially unacceptable to include a statement that efficacy had not been demonstrated, as this would undermine the profile of paroxetine,” and that “to effectively manage the dissemination of data in order to minimize any potential negative commercial impact.” (Jureidini &McHenry, 2011)...

...Understanding Business Research Terms and Concepts Rurik M. Frizzell RES/351 September 29th 2014 Professor Southard Using qualitative research design methods is most essential when dealing with business research. Understanding how numbers and data effect a business’ growth and production are essential in determining what is making or breaking a company’s vision. Profit is understandably the primary goal of any business; however, qualitative data is most essential when determining data on what products, programs, or ideas are attractive to a potential or current customer. Using qualitative analysis will help in making the right choices and provide quality overview for necessary adjustments. In 1982 Adobe Systems was engineered by two men by the names of John Warnock, and Charles Geschke. Using computers for illustration and artwork design was the primary goal of the founders of Adobe. The scientific ingenuity and hard work ushered in an era of design and computer generated programs. The impact was magnificent and is still going strong today, over 40 years later. One of the largest understandings of Adobe was unmet customer needs. Their belief was that even in an age of collecting data, no light can be shed on the gap of unmet customer needs. By determining what customers needed by using surveys, collecting email comments and letters, and by communicating with people and businesses, Adobe believed that it could continuously make adjustments to their programming to satisfy...

...However, most of these products have gone through very little, if any, testing to see if they can actually do what the marketers are saying they can do. Although, in America, the FDA is responsible for keeping an eye out for products making false claims, it is an extremely difficult task. Making it even more difficult is the ability that the average consumer has in obtaining products from overseas online. With so many new products hitting the market every day and consumers being able to obtain products from overseas so easily, it can take the FDA years before it catches on to a product that is making false claims or using ingredients that are considered illegal by the FDA. One major unethical practice that should be avoided when doing research for dietary supplements is trying to tweak the information to support claims that can potentially be false. When it comes to being physically fit or improving health most people will to tend to look for that “magic pill”. They prefer to find a product that claims to help burn fat, drop inches, or make them stronger rather than actually eat healthy and live a more active and healthier lifestyle. This vulnerability of the consumer and the desire of these supplement companies to capitalize on their vulnerability is the main reason why this unethical approach should be avoided. False claims can lead to someone taking something that could potentially harm them. When unethical practices are used there are a number of people that can be affected...

This is my summary of the business research process by my experience as an employee of City government. I am not into politics but, this is one of the best jobs I ever had very motivating it is always something new to learn. City of Wilmington, Delaware first Mayor was Richard H. Bayard in 1832-1834. ...Understanding Business Research Terms & Concepts: Part 1 RES 351 By To some extent all research may be approached either quantitatively or qualitatively. Everything is determined by the researcher’s primary aim. Are they fascinated in a methodical strategy, as a way to generate similar, generalized information, or do they desire to make a narrative of a special instance/scenario/circumstance? Each choice requires various kinds of preparation, which might best be accompanied by a special research design. However, mixture or mixed strategy approaches show to be very helpful in many scenarios, and appear to fix several of the difficulties, which appear from embracing an individual methodological strategy. According to Cooper & Schindler (2014), “Managers basically do business research to understand how and why things happen. If the manager needs to know only what happened, or how often things happened, quantitative research methodologies would serve the purpose. But to understand the different meanings that people place on their experiences often requires research techniques that delve more deeply into people’s hidden interpretations, understandings, and motivations. Qualitative research is designed to tell the researcher how (process) and why (meaning) things happen as they do (Ch. 7, pg 144)”. Strengths and Weaknesses Qualitative techniques are usually rich in story and description, and rather of supplying a result they have a tendency to discuss the procedure...
