Business Research is the process of gathering information about every aspect of a company. The information gathered is used to make decisions regarding the strengths, weaknesses that exist externally and internally in order to serve consumers. Competition is ongoing among organizations and will need to be at the forefront of the evolving trends in the business world. The key in the research process requires an understanding of the market and the opportunities that exist for growth. Organizations are charged with gathering data through secondary resources with the use of outside agencies like focus or research groups that give a better understanding of the industry. If organizations want to focus on their population of customers they use surveys and focus groups to understand preferences and trends that exist. Once businesses have the information they review and analyze the data to look for business and marketing strategies. Organizations should filter certain data that is relevant, consistent and reliable. The organization outlines all the options or alternatives to test the customer behavior towards services or the consumer intention to acquire. Companies should continue to gather feedback from the market and customers, because consumer preferences can change as can technology. The steps taken during the business research process are effective only if the company uses them to develop marketing strategies. Business research is a constant for organizations. Technologies will continually change, as customer needs and wants will increase and decrease. Therefore, it is critical for organizations to conduct business research throughout the year to promote change, stimulate business, and retain customers.
