One area that receives much attention from both parents and administrators is the number of the students per teacher. Suppose the U.S. Department of Education would like to compare this ratio in kindergartens for schools in California, Delaware, Nevada, and Georgia. The following data show the number of kindergarten students in randomly selected classrooms in these four states. These data can also be found in the Excel file kindergarten.xlsx. a. Perform a one-way ANOVA using α= 0.05 to determine if the average number of students in kindergarten classes is different in the four states.

b. If warranted, perform a multiple comparison test to determine which pairs are different using α=0.05.

Suppose Scotts Lawn Care would like to test the effectiveness of four new grass fertilizers that it has developed. Each fertilizer is applied to identical-size sections of grass, and after a period of time the sections of grass are mowed. The weight of the grass clippings are used to measure the effectiveness of the fertilizer. To control for variations in soil and ambient conditions, each fertilizer was applied to five different lawns, which can act as a blocking factor. The pounds of grass clippings for each sample are shown in the following table. These data can also be found in the Excel file fertilizer.xlsx. a. Using a randomized block ANOVA and α=0.05, does there appear to be a difference in the effectiveness of the four fertilizers?

b. If the answer to part a is no, what additional steps should be taken to test the difference in the population means of each fertilizer?

c. If warranted, determine which pairs of fertilizers were different using α=0.05.

b. Using a two-way ANOVA and α=0.05, does the number of bedrooms have an effect on the average monthly utility bill?

c. Using a two-way ANOVA and α=0.05, does the city have an effect on the average monthly utility bill?

Introduction The rickshaw is a small-scale local means of transport. It is generally a pedal-driven vehicle i.e. it is run by human power. But at present rickshaw with an electric motor is available to assist the puller. The rickshaw was built in the 1880s and was first used with regularity starting in 1929 in Singapore. Six years later they outnumbered pulled rickshaws. Cycle rickshaws were found in every south and East Asian country by 1950. ...A Linear Dynamic Programming Approach to Irrigation System Management with Depleting Groundwater The Southern High Plains area of the United States has little rain fall. Farmers in these areas such as Texas rely most on irrigation systems. The main source of their water comes from the Ogallala Aquifer. With little rain fall and no one refilling the aquifer, it poses a threat of running dry. Many theoretical models have been created to solve this problem but are not realistic. An applied model called the recursive linear programming (RLP) technique great but does not provide information as to the optimal temporal pattern of investment and the use of stock resources. A planning method such as the linear dynamic programming formulation will help solve many of the issues the RLP technique could not. Some of these issues include: availability of underground water, the area developed for irrigation, design of the system, water requirements, irrigation capacity, and the expected annual water level decline. The linear programming formulation is used to figure out how much money goes into irrigation systems. It includes the amount of water used and how much money is spent on irrigation. This formula is used to maximize resource plans and to help profit. This is done by looking at the type of irrigation system, the pumping capacity (how much ground water is being taken out), and the surrounding land. The linear dynamic programming formulation is a combination of parametric...

It takes every part of a category that is going to be studied and makes it a known hole. The population for this project would be Forward Cap, Defense Cap, Goaltender Cap, Total Cap, and Cap Space. Data Represented By a Sample A data sample is a set of data collected or selected from a statistical population by a defined procedure. Data Collection Methods (Non-Probability or Probability-based) The difference between Non-Probability and Probability-Based sampling is that Non-Probability uses or involves a random selection where the Probability-Based method does not. This means that Non-Probability samples can’t depend on the rationale of the probability theory. Using a Probability (Based Method) To make sure the sample I collected is Probability-Based, I used a Stratified Random Sampling. In a Stratified Random Sampling, you divide the elements of the population into smaller groups called strata. This will be used in my dataset where I will gather the different team into different strata. Part 2 1. The set of data that I chose for this project includes 30 observations and 6 quantitative variables. The data includes 30 measurements of the NHL team’s salary. The detailed salary per team was measured by Spotrac. The variables in the data set are Forward Salary...

Statistics in Business

...Statistics in Business Statistics is the science of collecting, organizing, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting data. Some experts prefer to call statistics data science, a trilogy of tasks involving data modeling, analysis, and decision making. In contrast, a statistic is a single measure, reported as a number, used to summarize a sample data set. Knowing statistics will make you a better consumer of other people’s data. You should know enough to handle everyday data problems, to feel confident that others cannot deceive you with spurious arguments, and to know when you’ve reached the limits of your expertise. Statistical knowledge gives your company a competitive advantage against organizations that cannot understand their internal or external market data. And mastery of basic statistics gives you, the individual manager, a competitive advantage as you work your way through the promotion process, or when you move to a new employer. Nominal Level of Measurement The nominal level of measurement is the lowest of the four ways to characterize data. Nominal means "in name only" and that should help to remember what this level is all about. Nominal data deals with names, categories, or labels. Data at the nominal level is qualitative. Colors of eyes, yes or no responses to a survey, and favorite breakfast cereal all deal with the nominal level of measurement. Even some things with numbers associated with them, such as a number on the back of a football jersey, are nominal since...

Retail Business Analysis

...Retail Business Analysis Payless Shoesource, Inc is one of the largest foot wear retailers in the United States. I got all my shoes, before I was fifteen and bought my own shoes, from Payless Shoesource, Inc. This is one reason I thought of Payless to do this retail business analysis on. Payless has a large selection of shoes including children, women, and men shoes at reasonable prices. Payless Shoesource has a definite generic, and segmentation marketing strategy and this paper will analyze these marketing strategies. Segmentation Marketing Strategy A market is customers who want or need a product and has the means to buy the product. Segments are customers who have the same wants, needs, and desire the same product. The three man segments of the population are demographic, psychographic, and geographic. Demographic segments can include age, sex, income, occupation, education, race and ethnic origin. On entering a Payless shoe store you fugitively take a step back from all the women shoes and accessories. The target demographic is definitely women. Most shoe retailers target this group because women according to a “Consumer Reports publication the average American woman owns 17 pairs of shoes and spends around $49 per pair” (Douglas, 2011). Women also typically buy shoe for their kids and spouse. Another demographic segment Payless target is children this can be seen in the children theme shoes for instance Spiderman, and glitter shoes. They...
