Business Use of Tablets

In a society that is dominated by smart phones, laptops, computers and other various forms of technology, perhaps the most recent and developed device that has taken the world by storm is the tablet. Many people feel that a cell phone is limited in its abilities, and who wants to purchase a laptop that is two to three times the size and price of a tablet? A tablet is functional, reasonably priced, and a perfect device for an extremely wide spread demographic group. The amount of individuals that can benefit from the use of a tablet is large enough in itself, but adding to this list beyond individual use is rather simple. Many businesses and corporations have jumped on the tablet bandwagon, and for good reason. They increase efficiency, are optimal forms of communication, and are extremely effective in allowing certain tasks to be completed in a more professional and rapid manor. Of course, there would be an extremely detailed and confusing way to describe how tablets work, but there is also quite a simple explanation as well. Tablets are a bigger, faster, and more functional version of a smart phone. At the same time, they are smaller, lass expensive, but not as widely efficient as laptops and computers. They enable you to video chat, work on documents, have access to your email, take pictures, use various applications for entertainment purposes, and much more. You can surf the Internet, check your stock prices, tell what the weather will be for the upcoming weekend, and even have your day-to-day activities stored in the calendar. However, the functionality tablets have for businesses is so much more involved, and for this reason, it is quite obvious why companies are adding tablets to their daily operations. When I originally picked this topic to write about, I automatically started to focus on the stereotypical business, in a large

...available for business use today. Most of the technologies available are cost efficient and help the business run smoother. We think Party Plates would benefit most from using Wi-Fi, tablets, and wireless printers/networks. Wi-Fi can be used by any business. The business can allow its customers to connect to it free of charge if they wish. Allowing customers to connect to their Wi-Fi gives the business the ability to capture the customer’s e-mail address if their device is set up with it. This helps with marketing, sale notifications, newsletters, and announcements. The cost of Wi-Fi is basically just any cost associated with initially getting the Internet hooked up and a one-time purchase fee of a wireless router, unless one is offered to the customer when they get their Internet hooked up. There does not have to be wires ran throughout the building for Wi-Fi nor do the customers have to be connected to anything to access it, which allows them the freedom of setting where they want and being able to move around the room. Offering Wi-Fi free to the customers and an APP so they can check-in, leave comments, and rate the business could be beneficial to get new business. Tablets with touchscreen capabilities would also be a good wireless technology for Party Plates to implement into their business. These tablets can also double as a phone. Having tablets could allow us to show customer items we may offer only online or by special order. Sales members could use the tablets to present...

Marketing Research Paper

...company uses this function to link the consumer, customer, and public to the market. A marketing research is an important part of business, and without it, companies won’t be able to keep in touch with trends, demands and preferences of their consumers. Although conducting marketing research can be time consuming and costly, it is beneficial in the long run and the cost of the research needs to be balanced against the importance of ensuring that the business venturing into new products is potentially going to be successful. The four elements of marketing mix, price, product, place and promotion form the basis of any good market research. Using these elements will guide the company’s research and focus the question that needed to be asked. In early October 2015 Microsoft announced the Surface Pro 4 that will be thinner, lighter, faster, and with facial recognition. The Surface Pro 4 is Microsoft laptop-tablet hybrid that can be used as a Windows computer and a tablet. More interestingly, Microsoft has chosen to target companies instead of the main stream consumer users. Based on my observations I think that Microsoft should consider making a tablet directed at the consumer segment of the market for those in who are not interested in productivity but use their tablet for entertainment like watching streaming video apps like NETFLIX and Hulu. I believe that Microsoft will benefit from the growth in this segment as the Surface prod 3 did good business. Surface tablet revenues...

...implement the use of tablets and laptops with Wi-Fi. This proposal will show why we feel this will be an improvement to our company’s sales and overall performance. It will also show the cost associated with the wireless devices and how it can also save us money with our company. First and foremost, wireless technology is sweeping the world, and becoming a plus in the business atmosphere. Many business owners apply these tools too their company because of the convenience of using them. Wireless technology is telecommunications used to carry a signal without wires, done by electromagnetic waves. Wi-Fi is a popular computer network service that uses the internet to transmit data wirelessly; usually done on a laptop or tablet. A wireless laptop is great for Party Plates because it will help access data quicker, which means we can receive orders quicker from clients. The manager will be able to communicate with clients, staff, and employees wherever he or she is. There are so many office jobs that can be handled using laptop with Wi-Fi, like faxing, printing, and emailing. The only con about the Wi-Fi is the loss of signal sometimes that stops the process of handling business. Wireless tablets is also another form of mobile computing, like the laptop, but is much lighter and easy to carry around. ...our day to day business challenges and solutions. I will focus on how new technology approaches with smartphones and tablets will provide advantages for managers and employees. My approach will be to demonstrate that by providing these devices to managers and employees will set their companies above the competition. Some benefits of using smartphones and tablets are the ability to submit real time scope audits and quicker communication between the corporation and its clients. Companies that are converting to this technology are increasing their stake in the market. Literature Review According to Andrew Douglas (2011), “Smartphone’s allow firms access to their company files and networks in an affordable way and can provide a business communications lifeline when other systems fail. He goes on to state that through Smartphone’s management is able to communicate immediately with employees to inform them of any incident, check on their safety and location and communicate necessary measures or contact details. The advantages of Smartphone’s over regular mobile phones are that most of these activities can be automated via dedicated software applications and that much of the relevant documents, such as business continuity plans, employee contact details and required actions can be stored on the device itself, so that they are available even if the mobile network is not functioning.” Anise Smith (2011) states that “Tablets are becoming really...

Amazon

...An insight into the tablet war Business Strategy 2012 ESCP EUROPE Introduction In May 2010, Apple, one of the biggest competitors in the market of technological devices, launches the Ipad, the first tablet, creating a completely new market in this sector. The Ipad had an amazing success and Apple achieved to sell 1 million units in only 28 days (74 days and 360 days for the Iphone and the Ipod). All the other big electronic companies, like Samsung, Sony or Motorola, decided to immediately follow the wave launched by Apple by creating their own tablets. But among the entire followers one is completely different considering its strategy and its core business: Amazon.com. The biggest Internet retailer, which already decided to enter into the market of technological devices by launching an e-reader named “the kindle” in 2007, created in 2011 its own tablet named “the Kindle Fire”. In 2012, while Apple still holds more than the half of the market share in the tablet sector, Amazon.com decided to launch its second generation of Kindle Fire a few weeks before the launch of the third generation of Ipad. And even if amazon.com does not seemed to be, at first sight, a really serious competitor for Apple, like Samsung could be, its innovative strategy could make it the most disruptive concurrent of the Californian Company. That is why we decided to make a study about the strategy used by Amazon to sell its Kindles. The first part will be focused on the history and the culture of...
