Question 1
Discuss the leadership qualities that your team leader has displayed throughout the OLDP programme. Support your answer with relevant examples.

Leadership can be simplified as “The art of causing others to want to follow”. As a
Leader, he or she will always make a decision on the spot when facing a problem. My team is
Blue two team, we had chosen 2 leaders for this outdoor programme. First day leader named
Mah Myn Shuen. Second day and third day leader was Low Kar Yong. First day leader come from Kuala Lumpur headquarters. Second day and third day leader come from Penang.

From my point of view, both of our team leaders were good and responsible. On the first
Day of the OLDP, the first activity was the team members were required to think a slogan for the team. Because this was our first outdoor gathering and we didn’t know each other, so some members were shy to share their ideas. Anyway our leader tried to mix us up by asking us ideas. She also tried to reduce our tenseness and at last she successfully mixed us up in within a few minutes. Finally, our team members started to give out ideas, and we decided to creat a slogan called BLUE 2 BLUE 2 GO GO GO , WE ARE THE BEST,OH YEAH!!! . This slogan was used to spiritually support our BLUE two team and our members liked it so much. After completing the slogan, the next game was the calculate money game, our commander was required to explain the game to us. If for example, a girl might only cost RM 0.50 and a boy was cost RM 1.00 because boys were lesser than girls so they were more expansive than girls. After that the facilitators told us the calculation to be made and we must simplify it to the total number. Then, we were required to combine ourselves to the total numbers as the facilitators told just now.

The next game was the boom boom game. It can be say to be an interesting game. All the Blue team members needed to combine into one group to boom other groups. So, our BLUE one was required to combine with BLUE two to become only one BLUE group. When playing this game, Mah Myn Shuen was our leader, so all of us had to listen his command to fight each other. It gave us a lot of fun when playing this game. But we just enjoyed playing the game but not really wanted to fight with other groups. Before dinner, the leader of the Blue Team to call a collection of forgotten for the moment of our Blue Team’s bag. So we were a little punishment. That punishment is delayed by five minutes, go to dinner. After having our dinner for the day, our facilitators called all the leaders went to take a schedule paper to start playing another game. This game needed us to find 35 things in a given short period of time. But soon enough, our leaders turned out to be a few things need to complete the final. But soon enough, our leaders turned out to be a few things to complete the final. So our leaders blaming her own carelessness.

Then, the next game we going to play was called “night walk”. To play this game, we needed to prepare a touch light when we were required to walk beside a road. Just because some of the places had no lamppost, so we needed to use a touch light to brightened up our way on the road. In this game, we faced a communication problem and did not cooperate well when playing the game. Because we were required must use English language for communication during the game proceeded, but unfortunately our team members did not follow this rule strictly in this game. So, many team members used their mother tongue to communicate with others.

The next day leader was Low Kar Yong . He was a leader of the second day and third day OLDP programme and he responsible to solve problem and made a good decision for the right team member to do the right job. The first activity we do for the second day was exercised in the morning on the field. The activities for that day were held at the hall, it was called “Folding newspaper into smaller and smaller size”. When we played the game, we needed to think how to allow all of us which consisted 10 of the team members to stand on the newspaper at a time when it size was going small than smaller. It was very difficult for us to do so. Then, we suggested someone of girl to sit on the boy’s shoulders to become easier for all of us stepped into the newspaper. When we played the “Eiffel Tower game”. We are the first time, so be weak in this project. But we do not give up, though just short of success, but we are also very happy because of teamwork. Furthermore, the next game needed us to play at the outdoor and the name of the game was, called the “Longest line game”. In this game, our Blue two team was required to take out all the things from our body to build up a line as longest as we could do it. Next, we played another game which was passing 4 paper boards to each other. Our group had 11 members, but we only needed 9 members to play this game. So, two of our members stood aside and supported us when we were playing the game. In this game we had to step by step on the board and passed the rest of the boards to the next person. It also wanted us to cross over the board as far as we could, and the farther u could do it the best mark you obtained. When we played this game, we also must trust other of us also could do it well. Our second station games were the “Flying Fox”. For this part, Ah Wu and Vivian would record down the time for the competition. In this game, it just wanted 18 members to play for it. So, our Blue team had 3 persons did not have chance to play in this game. Then, the Ah wu and Vivian would count until 18 and 19 would not be counted in. Beside that, the record was quite acceptable and the game was quite fun given. What we had planned was 3 persons would always get ready then the time would end faster when we played. When the eighteen persons had finished the Flying Fox, the Ah Wu and Vivian would stop counting the time. In conclusion, as a leader must defining the task, planning, briefing and controlling. Besides, leader should always motivating his/her team members, and able to give a clear instruction and information to the team members. Leadership development is an effort that enhances the learner’s capacity to lead people, leading is setting direction and guiding others to follow that direction. The highly motivated, self directed leader can gain a great deal of learning and other results from using the guidelines and materials in this topic.

Question 2
Discuss the relevance of time management in each activity that you are involved and give relevant examples to justify your answers.

Time management refers to a range of skills, tools and techniques used to manage time when accomplishing a specific tasks, project and goals. Times is unique and precious resources that we need in order to do our work and accomplish the goals.

In the activity for the presentation , we only had 1day’s time to discuss about it with our team, it is really not enough the time. This is because only after “The discovery walk”, then only we get the information about the presentation that we required to present it the next day night. For our team, one day time need to prepare for the presentation is really not enough for it, because the next day morning and afternoon, we had another activity to participate. Anyway, we used our free time and break time like lunch and dinner time to discuss about it. Besides, our team leader - Low Kar Yong had given us a brief of what character androle each of us needed to present. As a team member, everyone of us also willing to provide different ideas to our leader. Fortunately , we were successfully to carry it out. Our presentation is not very good so at the end, our team did not win in this presentation, and our leaders still supporting us because we had tired with our best effort. During the activity of Obstacles Course we had tried our best to perform it well, in all the 3 games. The 3 games are Electric Fence, Tsunami and Commander Crow. We are really enjoyed for all the games and all of us had got fun in this section. When we played the game called Tsunami , our Blue two team also sang a song which called “YI BI YA YA song” and it worked for us. Our time record for playing this game was just only 15 minutes to get it finish, because we add 1 more member to help , so add 5 minute . So , we know teamwork was the most important factor for us to complete all the 3 games. One of the activity that “Assembling the boat or Rafting”. Although we completed a slower time than the other team. However, the so-called slow working fine goods. When we completed our raft and reached the lake, our time was out of rating already. The member who sits on the boat are at ease , because we are very careful production boat. We are very successful in this activities .

In conclusion, time management, processes and tools to improve the efficiency and productivity of the development. In addition, time management is often regarded as a set of time management skills. In addition, the forbearance will be time management is also called a trustworthy theory is that once we master time management skills, we will be more organized and efficient.

Question 3
What are some of the communication problems your team faced in organizing the activities? Give relevant examples to support your answers.

Communication is passed from one person to another person's information and understanding of the process. Its effectiveness is a subjective nature and the mutual understanding of the required experience has been received to be considered by the sender. Therefore, communication is very important.
Our team is facing a language barrier, because the Chinese are more, so in many ways we are with the Chinese to dialogue, ignoring the people of other races. Sometimes we find we do not speak, because sometimes when we discuss in English, our language mixing Cantonese and Mandarin. In conclusion, our team do our best to let team members know what we discussed in the discussion of this member in the course of the discussion. That presentation, because the timing is too short, so we are busy want dialogue, more Chinese side, so we use Chinese to communicate with our Chinese is the most easily understood and to understand. Therefore, we ignore the other ethnic groups. So, they can not joined us to discuss the topic of this presentation. After see their impatience, we discovered that we ignore them. So we get poor marks in this area in the presentation. During the activity of Waka Waka , it was an activity of throwing balloons by using our clothes to the opponent team, unfortunately because we were lack of communication in carrying out this activity, therefore we were loss in this activity. During the activity Tsunami, because we communicate well, cover the small hole a lot of mistake. We therefore long overdue successful completion of this project.

As a conclusion, communication is important in a team, if the lacks of communication will cause the team facing many problem. The communication process involves six basic elements, that is sender, message, channel, receiver, noise and feedback.

Question 4
Explain an occasion where you have to make a decision on your own? What are the impact if your decision on: a. Yourself? b. Your team?

Give relevant examples to support your answers.

We make decision of varying importance every day, so that the idea of decision making can be a rather sophisticates art many involved together with a few effective techniques and will help to produce better decision. The involved to make their own decisions in the design of a team slogan. For me, the slogan is a phrase that can express a strong and powerful expression. I give my own ideas in this activity. In addition, another occasion, fashion show, activities involved in this activity as part of their own ideas, so I offer the idea to my team, because we all need to share the idea of the fashion show to make the best performance. Therefore, we can as quickly as possible to complete this show. We've got a lot of fun and happiness, because our team to win the majority of the team looks to. For my team, decided to team members to share decision is the "electric fence" and "tsunami" of activities. The rules of the electric fence should be moved from side to the other side. Our team are thinking about how to use the shortest possible time to complete this game. Tai Kok Chyan and Tee Vijen think of a way to get past the first, because their height is relatively high. In addition, the pass four cardboard, which is blue two team members with each other to pass the cardboard activities. We need to rise to a cardboard on the floor. When we play this game, we need to embrace everyone to a safe place, and help balance its own, standing on the white paper. So we have to properly think about how to successfully win this game. In the activity of “Obstacle Activities”, Mah Myn Shuen had shared with us an idea during the Electric Fence, Tsunami and Commander Crow. Besides, we also discussed together about how to cross over all these without touching the wire. We felt happy, while we it is not the best, but because we have tried to complete the game in the teamwork. Activities of the third day, we held our presentation in the hall, and during that time, we feel a little disappointed and sad, because we will soon again and soon friends had just met separately, in addition to also back to our college in Kuala Lumpur. When it came time Azizah was given a speech, she said, everyone in the camp to learn the 3 days 2 nights, but not on vacation. After the end of the speech, we have our last activity, which is the grams of sugar. We were asked to write the last communication paper, and paper, the Jerantut, Pahang, theFederal Land Development Council in Tekam leave of our friend.

Question 5
Learning from this experience, give suggestion for your team to perform better.

3 days 2 night outdoor leadership development program, we learned a lot of things can not be found in the book. From my point of view, this is a good learning experience, because from this program, we understand the spirit of teamwork, time management, communication with everyone, not just next to the physical and spiritual strength of the communicationskills are also important, too. First, I propose that my team members must be on time at the event time.Because my team on the first day late, especially in the morning, the General Assembly. Late on the first day of the General Assembly, especially in the morning, the General Assembly. The first day, the boys are late, because they can not wake up early, they live away from the hall. I suggest that they set the alarm in the morning, so that they will not be late for the morning of the General Assembly, please informed other roommate, they were asked the assembly time. As Mr. Lin, an assistant one of the hosts said, we are not getting enough sleep, but must try to learn to enjoy, wasted no time when it is study time, must feel that we are a young team. Next, I recommend to my team must have more confidence, for example, when we played the game of drifting. In the game, our group is a lack of confidence, because they afraid of boating, sink. However, after our leader advised. They also began to have confidence and courage to face. Because of this, we in this one game completed fairly quickly. In addition, I suggested we must never gave up and felt frustrated easily. For example, our team did not give up, when we could not find the answer for the game “Finding 35 item”. We just cooperated and discussed and thought together, at last we found the answer in within a few minutes. Furthermore, I suggested respectability, like our team members were so quiet and paid attention to someone when he or she was talking and giving some ideas. It shown that our team was polite and good manner with looking out for others feelings. Respect is basically an attitude that is shown towards any individuals feeling or interest. It is acknowledging another’s feelings in any kind of relationship. Finally, I propose that all the team members can understand and communication skills and team must use a language or Mandarin. This is one of our team members, because they only know how to Mandarin and English, but can not speak or understand other languages . Sometimes, however, in the discussion, we tried to use Mandarin and Cantonese, but she will feel the chaos that we are trying to say and discuss. The language can make the team work better and more efficient. By the way, these proposals is beneficial to improve, making this group seems a bit different and successful. We follow these suggestions, we finally achieved in this OLDP the best team, because our Blue two teams have the best team when we played and completed all the activities.

Discuss the common elements described in the theories/philosophies of Case, Kouzes, and Drucker including how their principles/strategies relate to the new definition of entrepreneurial leadership presented in Understanding Entrepreneurial Leadership in today’s Dynamic Markets. Case, Kouzes and Drucker each have good theories and philosophies on entrepreneurship and leadership. Each had different ways of stating what they thought made a good entrepreneur but for the most part focus on some of the same things and agreed that with the right balance of these characteristics then succeeding, as an entrepreneur would be possible. One of the common elements that each focused on was people. Interaction with people is important when it comes to entrepreneurship and leadership skills according to Case, Kouzes, and Drucker. Each inferred that if a person does not have people skills, then the person would not succeed as an entrepreneur or a leader. People skills would be the ability to motivate others and interact. A leader cannot lead without being able to interact with people. Starting a business requires interaction with people on some level. Another common element that they all thought were important was not being afraid to take risk. Taking a risk in order to monopolize an industry to succeed is important. ...Recording Transactions Keeping business records accurate and up to date is important for the smooth running of a business. The business owner must record all of the money coming into the business from successful sales of the product and all of the money going out, such as expenses including money owed for storage, wages that are paid and money to purchase the stock. If a business fails to do this it may find itself not chasing payments, forgetting to pay bills or, even in trouble with HM Revenue and Customs. If the business does not record its transactions correctly, it cannot report its financial performance accurately and therefore tax payments may be wrong. By recording the sales made, the business owner is given a clear indication of what’s popular and so it becomes clear what products should have increased stock or altered price. In your case, it is very important that you monitor your sales as a new business will most likely not make any profit straight away, so it’s vital to record your transactions so you are able to at least breakeven until more customers become aware of your business and you can start to make a profit. Furthermore, since you have negotiated a one month credit with a supplier, it is important to record your transactions so you know that you can repay the supplier after the month has passed and avoid any consequences. It would be beneficial to you if you could keep your credit supply as then you will have money coming in from your customers to then...

...The United States exists in a capitalistic economy meaning that private enterprise is based on fair competition, economic freedom, and private ownership therefore; business is the heartbeat of our economy. Everything from manufacturing, health care, sales, and agriculture involves business in some way. Businesses provide jobs and produce goods and services that we depend on every day (What Role Does Business Play in Our Economy..?). They pay state and federal taxes to the government on their services provided. The taxes paid by businesses and the people employed by them allow the government to function. Looking at businesses in this way you can clearly see that business is a pivotal part of the economy. Within our economy two types of business organizations exist: for-profit and nonprofit. A for-profit organization will produce goods or services in the hopes of making revenue off its products. Most organizations you think of today are probably a for-profit establishment. Organizations that are classified as not-for-profit or nonprofit often operate under the guise of the emotional appeal of compassion but can also become major economic engines. They are business like establishments but unlike a for-profit business, their primary goals do not include making monetary profits. For profit businesses operate to generate revenue under the idea to have more profit than loss at the end of the day. Unlike for- profit businesses, nonprofits are organizations that are classified...
