...CAREER DEVELOPMENT THEORIES COGNITION Contributors: A Bandura, R Hawthorn, B Law, J M Kidd J Killeen, J D Krumboltz, A.S Levin, and K.E. Mitchell SOCIAL LEARNING THEORY OF CAREERS DECISION MAKING Learning Theories suggest that it is an individual's unique learning experiences over their lifespan that develops the primary influences that lead to career choice. Mitchell and Krumboltz’ Social Learning Theory of Careers Decision Making (SLTCDM 1976) identifies four categories of influencers that affected career decision making: 1. Genetic Endowment and Special Abilities e.g. IQ, gender, appearance, race, ‘natural/gifted’ talent 2. Environmental Conditions and Events e.g. economic climate, technological development, educational system 3. Learning Experiences e.g. instrumental and associative learning experiences Instrumental Learning Experiences Reinforcement theory suggests that an individual will develop preferences through encouragement or discouragement and this will be directly connected with repeat behaviour. For example, if someone is praised for an action (positive reinforcement), they are more likely to repeat or build on that experience. Equally, if someone succeeds with an activity (for example, an academic subject), then they are more likely to pursue it. Associative Learning Experiences Associative learning describes how emotions can become attached to otherwise neutral events or observations. For example, if a person becomes stuck...

...Simmons Case (A) Review They say there are only two things constant in life: death and taxes, the rest of the time we are faced with change. Since 1875 the Simmons Company has seen many changes in product lines and technology; however by 2001 they were facing out dated leadership techniques and economic challenges that needed to be addressed in order for the company to survive. Eitel, Simmons CEO, found division between manufacturing plants and low morale throughout many of the factories. In order to instill new life into Simmons, Eitel knew that the company had to make some drastic changes to its culture. One of these changes up for debate was the Great Game of Life (GGOL). The Great Game of Life (GGOL) program uses key psychological and sociological behaviors to bring a group of people together and build bonds of trust and cohesiveness that transforms them from a collection of individuals into a team. The program is designed to break down social barriers and create situations where the only way people can be successful is to rely upon each other. This allows them to see the importance of building working relationships in a positive way at work and helps them “envision [a] success together and have trust established” (Casciaro & Edmondson, 2007). It seems that GGOL is based on the inside-out growth method by starting first with the person and then the team. Ultimately the program was designed to “help people make better choices in order to live a better life through...

This assignment is an educational subject that belongs to the fourth semester of the bachelor Businessmanagement in Marketing. This comprehensive assignment was given to the students to learn and understand about the basic principles of international marketing. Each student was assigned to make a plan for a Belgian company that wants to export its product to another country. I recently got back from a long stay in Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia. During this stay, I was confronted by the biggest problems of Jakarta. Which is traffic jam, pollution, parking and high car expenditure. Jakarta has a bad reputation for having some of the worst traffic-jams in the world. (www.thejakartaglobe.com) Belgium on the other hand is more environmentally friendly than ever. Smart mobility solutions have expanded in the past couple of years. So I decided to write an export plan for the Belgian company Zen Car. It’s a company with a new concept of green mobility. Its system of sharing electric, silent and non-pollutant cars is simple and practical. Zen car in Jakarta is the topic of this...

A key driver of this change is the advent of Customer Relationship Management which, underpinned by information systems convergence and the development of supporting software, promises to significantly improve the implementation of Relationship Marketing principles. In this paper we explore the three main issues that can enable (or hinder) the development of Customer Relationship Management in the service sector; the organisational issues of culture and communication, management metrics and crossfunctional integration — especially between marketing and information technology. 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd.
