What cultural factors must U.S. sports franchises overcome to increase popularity abroad? How can franchises ensure their products are appropriate for international markets? Should governments protect their industries by placing tariffs on imported products? These three points will be explained more in the next pages.

First U.S. Sports franchises who are trying to expand their businesses abroad have many things to overcome. Lets try seeing this from the point of view of those abroad. How do our sports fit in with the ones already established in these countries. Many European countries reefer to soccer as football, which may cause a lot of confusion of the bat. Especially if you are trying to establish an NFL following in another country.

Also to be taken into consideration these countries traditions, as well as there rituals or rivalries. For them not only have their families have been following these same sports, but the same teams as well. So U.S. Franchises have to find a way to wedge in between these long standing traditions. At the least a way to attract a younger generations.

Many of these problems can be over come by market research. By studying these countries, and there cultures. These franchises may find ways to over come these differences that are held between U.S. Sports, and countries abroad. One of these ways may by recruiting athletes from different countries. Which would help those other countries relate to these American teams. Seeing a fellow country man playing along those from the U.S.

There are many ways a franchises can ensure their brand, or products are appropriate to compete on the international market. Just like everything in life studying is a big part. Studying the countries these companies are trying to introduce brands, or products goes a big way. Making sure these products are even suitable for the country, or if there is even a large enough consumer for their products to justify this expansion.

These franchises may also research the competition that is already established in these countries. To see if it's even profitable to take a stab at making this leap. Trying to push a new brand of an over-saturated product in a country. May only end up in these franchises losing more then they could afford.

Another way franchise may see that these new brands or products do make it past the initial launch. Could be by first expanding in countries who share similar attributes of their own country. As John Dring, CEO and executive vice president of Cartridge World stated (2007). “ Look for commonalities such as language or customs that the franchise company is currently working with in other countries. Replicating a success from one country to another may help with the accuracy of the research and execution of the next franchise system in a new country.”

There are many reasons why a government should, or shouldn't protect their industries. On the one hand by placing tariffs on imported goods, or products. You force some companies to keep their operations state side. In which provides jobs for those who live here. On the other hand having so much government involvement in what is supposed to be a free market may be harmful. By creating companies who governments may see as to big to fail. Which ends with the tax payers money being spent on bailing these billion dollar companies.

As can be seen U.S sports has many obstacles to over come. While Franchises have many tools to try and ensure products success in different countries. Also when it comes to government intervention through tariffs there can be both good, as well as bad effects to this.

Busy

...An issue important to me Very quickly in the past two years I realized the kind of person I am. I am an enthusiastic boisterous person that is moved by the dreams and aspirations of others. I absolutely love the intrinsic motivation of people. The want to pursue a purpose in life and love what is created by them. We all have a talent vested within us waiting to be flourished at the right time. I have a strong sense of optimism that this is imbedded within every human soul on this planet. If I speak to someone that doesn’t know nor has no basis of some sort of desire to chase or acquire, I really like to try and cultivate and bring out these aspirations for that person. Not only does this bring me closer to someone but it lifts the spirits and pride of anyone I talk to. For example, I remember speaking to a girl in pre-calculus. No one really talked to her; she always looked down and stayed in the corner. This really bothered me that bothered me that no one would give her the light of day, so I spoke to her. When I introduced myself the light on her face was as if the Berlin wall just fell down. She had a beautiful smile that I never knew of because she never did. I asked her for her name and complemented on its uniqueness. I was overthrown with warmth to know that these little nuances of politeness do not go unappreciated. I didn’t ask her how her day was; I didn’t ask her how her week was or what her favorite color was to fill in the silence. I looked at her into the beautiful...

Busy Trap

...Kreider's 'The Busy Trap,' is an expository essay in which Kreider speaks out about the world's endless obsession with unnecessary or daunting tasks. The article manages to paint a picture of what society views as 'busy' along with the negative impact has on one's mental health. Kreider states that society sees being busy as a means of seeming accomplished and productive. In today's society, being bogged down and having virtually no free time is deemed "good." Its the rest of the world who are deemed "unimportant" in comparison to these over-driven, anxious individuals. Kreider not only targets adults who have fallen victim to the increase in the busy lifestyle but children as well who have taken on more than their little minds can wrap itself around. Today's children are bombarded with many activities; from soccer practice to classical music lessons. Children are lacking free time. There's nothing for them apart from getting an early start on solidifying a concrete future. But what can be said apart from the fact that this is what society has began to drill into their little minds. Like Kreider insists, business is greatness. However, in all truths what are children really learning when they are loaded with too many activities that has their minds swirling apart from the very definitions of such words as exhausted, tired and drained? Kreider takes a moment to reflect on his own childhood in which he did nothing more than spend (or to those obssessed with being busy) waste his time...

Busy Schedule

...When someone has work or school from the moment they wake until the moment they fall asleep, it is hard to find time to do the things in life that they enjoy. Trying to juggle school, work, homework, and the daily chores that consist of my house is beyond a tedious workload. Before chaos stepped into my life, I would take trips a couple hours away to take my four dogs to the dog park so they could socialize and get some of their energy out of their systems. My yard is not the best thing in the world or the largest, so that made it possible to help them have fun. Even a simple trip to the theatre or the nail salon seems to be a distant reality seeing as my days are planned for every day of the week. I can barely make the time to make dinner every night due to my schedule being overcrowded. When I awake every morning, I look at my phone to just to make myself remember the day of the week and my itinerary for that day. If I did not have to work for a week, though I would even settle for a weekend, I could see myself taking a weekend vacation out of town to enjoy some country scenery. I would probably even be able to make dinner for a night and have time to sit down in my recliner and watch a movie from a video store. My friends, who seem to think I have deserted them, would see that I have time to spend with them. I don’t know what it would be like to sleep in, but I would not stop myself from trying it out for a change in pace. Between star gazing, horseback riding,...

A Busy Mother and Spouse

...A Busy Mother and Spouse My problem is in regards to my relationship with my spouse. We hardly spend time with one another because we are so caught up in our busy lives. As I mentioned in Part 1, I am afraid that we will end up like most couples who do not find alone time with one another, separated and divorced. This is something that I do no hope for and I plan on finding a solution to this. The first thing that must be done is to understand why it is that we do not have any time for each other. The answer is fairly obvious because I am a full time mother, student, and housewife. He is a full time accountant and father. A lot of our spare time is spent on resting or spending time with our families. After researching why it is that we do not spend enough time with each other, I must conduct more research on working relationships. I must do some research on the percentage of married couples who do stay together if they do not have any quality time together versus those who do not. I also plan on researching some fun and easy things to do with your spouse that is not so time consuming. We both love being parents so it’s essential that we do not take too much time away from our daughter while she is so young. The sources that I plan on using are several marriage forums online and articles based on successful marriages. I am positive that there will be wise advise on these websites. Another source that I will be seeking are my parents and friends who have been married for over...

Look Busy Do Nothing

...If you're getting paid to do something, you should do it, and do it well. But is it always that simple? What if you have a vague job description, a haphazard workload, and a very strict boss who is only content when you look busy, and doesn't realize or care that you are so efficient that you completed your work early. Let's say you and a co-worker must each enter the data from 100 files, or shelve 100 books. You hustle and finish an hour earlier than your co-worker, and there's not much else to do. Your boss or manager walks by, expresses displeasure at the fact that you're not doing anything, and assigns you to an unpleasant, and really unnecessary task because they don't like seeing you relax (even though you earned it by finishing your assignment faster, right?). What do you do? Quit? File a complaint? Or slow down? These instructions are here for if you decide to reward your own efficiency by using that extra time you earned for R&R--without your boss noticing. Know what the standards are. At the end of the day, you still have to meet those standards if you want to keep your job. The main thing you should know is how much time your manager or boss expects you to spend on a particular project or assignment. Spend that amount of time on it--no more, no less (unless, of course, efficiency is actually rewarded in your position, not punished). If, for example, your boss expects you to spend 40 minutes on a task but you know you can get it done in 20 minutes, you should be able...

Busies Aqa Unit 3

...Discuss which poses the greater threat to Warwick Clothing’s future success: problems with cash flow or low levels of profitability? Cash flow is the money that is flowing in and out of the business, whilst the profitability is the ability of a firm to make profits. On the one hand I believe that cash flow problems do create a great threat to the future of the business. The company has exceeded is overdraft limit numerous times which means that they won’t have the money to pay their suppliers of materials, especially if there are also long credit terms. 90 days to get paid by the airline company is a long time and means that instead of focusing on quality products, the manager has decided to implement them and in some cases resort to sub-contracting as he believes that this will create products quicker, meaning that they will sell quicker, leading to a better cash flow. However, although this is potentially true, these cash flow problems in the first place have lead to a 15% increase in customer complaints as the quality of the product has declined due to mass producing them for cheaper. On the other hand, the profitability of the business is that which poses a greater threat to the future success of the business. If the business is making low profits, then this means that they will have little money to re-invest into their business (or pay dividends), which means that the size of the firm is unlikely to increase. The 2.5% net profit margin shows that they are making...

Analysis Of Scott Dannemiller's 'Busy Is A Sickness'

In “Busy Is a Sickness” Scott describes that his busyness is busyness with control and that he created his own stress by always having the urgency to rush because of a full schedule that he created. Analyzing Tim Krieider's Essay 'Busy Trap'

...What are we so busy about? I know many have heard the saying, “no matter how busy a person’s day may be. If they really care, they’ll always find time for you.” Well after reading Tim Krieider’s essay, “The ‘Busy’ Trap” it describes the busy lives of individuals and how they avoid leisure time. Krieider’s argument states how many will say they are busy doing the things they don’t need to be doing just to avoid doing anything they’re actually supposed to be doing. I am truly guilty of the bust trap. Simply because I am tired and just don’t feel like doing anything. I can recall days leaving work after having a very stressful day then having to go grocery shopping, pick up my son from football practice, cook, and help my youngest with his homework...

Teamwork in Busy Health Care Call Center

...Teamwork in Busy Health Care Call Center Jessica Beasley HCS/325 June 15, 2015 University of Phoenix Instructor: Victor Kintz Proposal Title The call center for a busy health care organization has experienced a substantial increase in the volume of calls over the past year. When observing more closely, as the manager, I’ve noticed that the volume of calls has actually doubled over the past year. This poses an issue because there isn’t any room in the budget to hire additional staff. However, there is an additional $20,000 that can be spent on the department to improve efficiency and customer service. Problem The volume of calls entering the call center, has double over the past year, but it’s not within the budget to accommodate additional staff. Recommendations Although hiring more staff is the most sensible remedy to this situation, the budget will not allow this decision can to be made. I propose three recommendations that could help keep customers satisfied as best as possible, without having to hire additional staff. Number one, instead of all the calls being answered by phone, with the additional funds, develop a website that allows the customer an option to receive help via email or live online chat with a representative. To start this process, as the manager, I would first need to hire someone that can set up and design a website for the company. Next, identify which group of health care customer service representatives are more skilled in computer literacy...

"We can't even keep them from forming an intimate relationship with their savior." "Once they gain that connection with Jesus, our power over them is broken." "So let them go to their churches; let them have their covered dish dinners, but steal their time, so they don't have time to develop a relationship with Jesus Christ." "This is what I want you to do", said the devil: "Distract them from gaining hold of their Savior and maintaining that vital connection throughout their day!" "How shall we do this?" his demons shouted. "Keep them busy in the nonessentials of life and invent innumerable schemes to occupy their minds," he answered. "Tempt them to spend, spend, spend, and borrow, borrow, borrow." "Persuade the wives to go to work for long hours and the husbands to work 6-7 days each week, 10-12 hours a day, so they can afford their empty lifestyles." "Keep them from spending time with their children." "As their families fragment, soon, their homes will offer no escape from the pressures of work!"
