...Cisco first Research and development center outside in the USA was in India. The management learnt from this establishment various lessons that eased their way to opening a R&D in China. The Global Development Center established in India had a big attraction with 300 engineers making it a low-cost engineering resource for San Jose. Different projects where directed to them for support which leads to having many turnovers. Therefore, the management decided to that they need to integrate the employee within the organizational goal to gain the commitment. The first step in establishing the R&D was to gain what is called the Concept Commit approval by the decision makers then the execution commit for the approval of the resources. After that, engineers and scientists generally conducted original investigations on a systematic basis to gain new knowledge (research) and/or the application of research findings to create or significantly improve products or processes. So at Cisco R&D centers, several software developers thought about how to create a product or process and how to implement it—take ideas from zero and create new things. The CRDC group knew that the first project would be critical. Raznjevic believed they needed a core project that would bring some money to the company but was not strategic to Cisco. They needed to establish power authouriy as they would have different staff varying from vice president, general manager (GM), senior/junior staff so each should have certain...

...ASTR 101 12 June 2016 Humans Will Not Survive It is only a matter of time before the cosmic calendar catches up to our species, as it had with the dinosaurs. Admittedly, our species has made leaps and bounds as a civilization despite the short amount of time that we have spent on the cosmic calendar. However, the human species has been around for only the last half-minute on the cosmic calendar, and we might not last much longer (Bennett, 2014). Even world renown physicist Steven Hawking has placed an expiration date on the human species. Steven Hawking has given us 100 to 200 more years to live out our last years unless we start branching out and inhabiting other planets. Hawking even went so far as to say, “If we can avoid disaster for the next two centuries, our species should be safe as we spread into space (Cosmic Log, 2010).” It is no secret that our planet’s temperature is slowly rising and that humans have the power to eradicate all life on earth with nuclear weapons. If we don’t die of nuclear warfare, or of global warming, an asteroid or nearby supernova just might do the trick (Big Think, 2015). Many, many scientists and space enthusiast have come to the same conclusion that we have all of our eggs in one planetary basket, and that we need to spread them out amongst other planets if we ever hope to outlast the dinosaurs on the cosmic calendar (Cosmic Log, 2010). ...CHAPTER-1 INTRODUCTION 1.1 THE INDUSTRY Tyre industry consumes over 60% of the total rubber production with respect to Indian economy. But in actuality only just around 52% of the tyre is natural rubber. Remaining 48% consist of synthetic rubber, carbon, chemicals, etc. The origin of tyre industry in India dated back to 1926 when Dunlop Rubber Limited set up the first tyre factory in West Bengal. MRF followed the suit in 1946. Since then the Indian tyre industry has grown rapidly. Transportation industry and tyre industry go hand in hand as the two are interdependent. Transportation industry has experienced 10% growth rate year after year with an absolute level of 870 billion ton freight with an extensive road accounts for over 85% of all freight movement in India. The tyre industry in India is classified under 4 categories based on the year of commencement of production namely 1. 1st Generation Companies - which included Dunlop and Firestone. 2. 2nd Generation Companies - which included MRF, CEAT, Goodyear, and Premier. 3. 3rd Generation Companies - which included Apollo, Vibrant, Modi Rubber, and J.K.Tyres. 4. 4th Generation Companies - includes the companies started after 1970 and also which are yet to start production. ...Chapter 14 14-4 Code Sec. 351 states that no gain or loss be recognized upon transfer of property to a newly forming corporation in exchange for stock. This serves a beneficial purpose to those sole proprietors who are looking to move to the corporate form. If the sole proprietor were to transfer property that has appreciated and recognized a gain without Code Sec. 351, then this would constitute as a taxable transaction. Code Sec. 351 allows sole proprietors and partnerships to form corporations without negative tax consequences. 14-20 A C-Corporation can elect any end of month as the end of its fiscal year, however, S-Corporations must use the calender year as its fiscal period. S-Corporations can elect a different fiscal period if it meets certain requirements but this is not the norm. These options differ from those of a sole proprietorship and partnership in that a proprietorship or partnership must follow the same tax year as its owners. This allows the corporation to adjust its tax year to reflect its operations. 14-22 Corporations do not receive preferential treatment in regards to net-long term capital gains when compared to individuals. Capital gains must be included in the corporations ordinary income and taxed at the same rate as ordinary income. Furthermore, corporations are not allowed to deduct the excess of capital losses over capital gains against ordinary income in the year in which they occurred. Corporations must claim capital...

...The Mayan civilization were one of the most important Meso american cultures. They were a innovative civilization that controlled most of the land that stretched from southern Mexico to northern Central American. The Mayan civilization started in 250 A.D and disappeared during the 1500's most likely because of Spanish invasion. “Mayan civilization not only dominated the region in pre-Colombian times, but also it has captivated world attention more than a thousand years after it has collapsed (Foster)". According to Foster, the Mayan civilization has made a lasting impression on the world. Their lingering effect on the world is due to the fact the Mayans made many achievements in the areas of architecture, trade, religion, math, and astronomy. The Mayans were skilled in the field of architecture.Their architecture would include awe-inspiring observatories, palaces, ball courts, and stelaes which were intricate and detailed statues dedicated to a specific god. Mayan pyramids were based on Mesoamerican design and similar in style to the ziggurats of the ancient Mesopotamians and pyramids of the Inca. All three buildings would have a long staircase, leading up to a temple dedicated to a certain god. Although the Mayans focused on man made features for their architecture, they would also integrate natural resources. ”Mayan architecture tends to integrate a great degree of natural features...depending upon the location and availability of natural resources such as fresh-water wells...
