Calvin John Michalak from Ursa Illinois was one of my good friends who I had just heard passed away in a bad accident. Calvin was serving in the United States Army, stationed at Ft. Riley, Kansas. He was previously stationed in Baumholder, Germany. He had such a big heart that he always worried about and took care of others before himself. Calvin was a person who truly lived his life. It won first place in two different art shows and I got to see the kids reactions to a "soldier". I went to finally give it to his mother and father but they didn’t seem to want it which broke my heart. I will never forget what his mother said: "oh it’s my baby its really Calvin". Today I still wish she would have excepted my painting but I have to understand why she
