...Rachel Banes Dr. Mary Sanders HIST 1103-503 10 October 2014 The Patriot Movie Review The Patriot was an American Revolution epic that was portrayed from the perspective of an implacable family. While the movie provided entertainment, there were many historical events that were illustrated in this film such as, the depiction of militias, the implications of battles, and insight to life during war. Due to the bias nature of the film and a few historical inaccuracies, the nationalism in this movie becomes overwhelming. This film was set in the 1770’s in early South Carolina. Benjamin Martian, an ex French and Indian war icon, is the father of seven children who rejected a proposal to go to battle and be apart of the Continental Army. While trying to avoid any involvement in the battle, the war comes close to home and the leading antagonist Colonel Tavington killed Thomas, his 15-year-old son. Martin began seeking revenge by creating a militia that consisted of peasants and farmers. The militia had an objective to keep General Cornwallis in South Carolina. Their efforts were successful through their strategic planning by killing off his men and cutting him off from supplies. Although they succeeded in the surrender of Cornwallis, Gabriel, Martins son, also became a victim of Tavington and was killed. Gabriel’s death evoked one last fight between Martin and Tavington. Martin had the victory over him, which lead to Tavington’s death and helped drive the Continental Army to...

...Benedict Arnold was a heroic man that fought against the British in the Revolutionary War. His most famous act was in the Battle of Camden, where he charged with his horse and killed many British soldiers. All his acts were very important to the war and the country, he was mistreated by his own companions. So, he committed treason because of getting no credit, no recognition, and unfair treatment. First of all, Benedict Arnold got no credit on the Battle of Camden and got replaced by General Horatio Gates. In the Battle of Camden, Benedict Arnold won America the day by charging through British soldiers and almost risking his life. In that action, Benedict Arnold got critically injured and lost his leg. But, General Gates took all...

...median income in 2009 was $49,594 which was an increase from the previously recorded $39,138 in 2000 ("Woodlynne, new jersey" 2011). After analyzing the average income, as defined by socioeconomic status levels, Woodlynne is considered a middle-class neighborhood. Although a fairly small town, the government body of Woodlynne was more of a Republican-Conservative position. This has changed with the election of a Hispanic mayor, Jerry Fuentes. He is much more focused on creating programs within the township to better the youth and keep adolescents off of the streets. He has a proactive standing in attempting to reduce crime, because although Woodlynne is a small town it is high in crime which can be a result of being closely neighbored to Camden city (one of the highest crime cities). Woodlynne is...

...Learner’s name: Paulina Dabrowska Level 3 NVQ Diploma Hospitality Supervision and Leadership. KEY SKILLS LEVEL 2 - RENTING A HOUSE A purpose of this project is to compare the cost of renting 2 bedroom or 3 bedroom property. Before choosing dream accommodation I have to set some basic criteria. The most important factors for me is localization and price. My clue in search is to save money on transport by cycling, so localization as it was mentioned above is crucial. However I’m able to spend more money for renting a property in zone 1, what is naturally much more expensive than in areas further from central London. The issue is well explained on website www.moving2london.com “ The closer you are to the centre of London, the more you are going to have to pay for rent. Simple. The closer you are to the centre of London, the less you are going to have to pay for public transport (if you work in the city centre too). Makes sense as well. BUT just because you pay less rent for a similar type of room in zone 4 compared to zone 1 does NOT mean you will necessarily be paying less per week if you consider public transport costs as well. Costs for travel cards as you go further from zone 1 increase exponentially, and sometimes the money you save on rent by moving to an outer zone may not actually save you much at all over all if you work in zone 1, as so many Londoners do. “ [?] In next steps I will choose which localization...

...shared home stadiums for Major League Baseball and National Football League or Canadian Football League teams. Some stadiums were renovated to allow multi-purpose configurations during the 1980s. This type of stadium is associated with an era of suburbanization, in which many sports teams followed their fans out of large cities into areas with cheaper, plentiful land. They were usually built near highways and had large parking lots but were rarely connected to public transit. As multi-purpose stadiums were rarely ideal for both sports usually housed in them, they had fallen out of favor by the 1990s. With the completion of the Truman Sports Complex in Kansas City in 1973, a model for purpose-built stadiums was laid down. Since Oriole Park at Camden Yards opened in 1992, most major league sports stadiums have been built specifically for one sport. Outside North America, the term is rarely used, since soccer is the only major outdoor team sport in many countries; in...

...Race and My Community Nicole Petitta ETH/125 April 1, 2012 Jade Pumphrey Abstract In order to understand race and how it relates to my community, I must first identify my community. Through identifying characteristics of the people of my community as well as my personal experiences, I can analyze race within my community. In order to understand race and how it relates to my community, I must first identify and provide background information on my community. I live in a small suburban town named Oaklyn. My town is located in Camden County of South Jersey. Oaklyn is approximately 1.61 square miles, with White Horse Pike, or Route 30, as the main road running through the middle of town (Advameg, Inc. 2011). Oaklyn’s middle school is called Oaklyn Public, and when I attended this elementary school, my classmates and kids in higher leveled grades discriminated against people based on their race and physical appearance. The jokes, making fun of, and prejudice towards these minorities would force people of the same or similar physical features, like skin color, into a group or alliance. I believe this was a direct result of how they were raised by their parents. Racial prejudice can be strong strongly passed down from generation to generation. According to Schaefer (2006), “Race is a social construction and this process benefits the oppressor, who defines who is priviledged and who is not (Chapter One). I think race follows those who instill it in the next generation,...

...Camden a Market Leader John Smith Strayer University Compensation Management BUS 409 [ July 15, 2013 ] Professor Marilyn Fitzpatrick Camden a Market Leader Camden Property Trust has stayed competitive in the job market by having one of the best compensation packages in its field. Camden has been consistently ranked since 2006 in Fortune Magazine’s Top 100 companies to work for. In 2006 they were ranked at number 50 and slowly worked their way up to number 41 in 2009. Then in 2010 they jumped to number 10. Camden is one of the largest multifamily real estate investment trusts (REIT) and was hit during the recession, but was able to stay successful by investing in its employees. Camden was able to continue to offer a very completive compensation package to lure talent and help develop talent that they already had. To stay a step ahead of everyone else Camden not only needs to offer traditional benefits like medical, but expand on them and think outside the box. Employees spend a lot of time at work, more than they do with their own families, so by offering benefits that help the family out as well is one good way to attract and keep loyal employees. A company’s employees are their number one investment; they can make or break a business. Camden’s dedication to their employees has not only made them a great place to work but a successful business as well. How Camden Stands Above the Rest Although there are five companies listed under the category of construction/real...

...Introduction This essay will first show how an effective use of language and persuasion, and a good awareness of ethical considerations can contribute to a successful negotiation process by breaking deadlock and achieving a win-win situation. To lead a good business negotiation, there are five key points that one should go through: preparing the negotiation, rehearsing the negotiation, describing our statement and position, making propositions and offers, bargaining and the weight of culture in the negotiation process. The process of negotiation itself requires preparations. If one negotiates in an offhand attitude, then one will never be able to optimize ones efficiency. More the negotiation is important and more it requires preparation. If one does not prepare correctly and efficiently, and if the other part did it well, one will enter in a position of inferiority. One will appear weak and non-professional. The lack of preparation will nearly always cost money. Preparing the negotiation Oral communication, such as discussions and conversations belong (most of the time) to improvisation. Negotiation, which is a particular form of oral communication, also seems to belong to improvisation. But by just reducing it to a simple improvisation, it is underestimating the power of words and language. Negotiation always requires a minimum of preparation. By preparing or building your knowledge (make researches about the products, company mottos and corporate values…)...

...police.uk. Camden Town came behind only Brixton, Shoreditch and Soho and Leicester Square in the audit, where each hotspot had more than 750 recorded crimes within a 1km radius over the 12 month period. Research student Matt Ashby, an online crime blogger and former police constable for British Transport Police, also found that half of all reported offences took place in less than one per cent of streets across London. Mr Ashby, 32, said: “The Camden Town area had 1,100 violent or sexual crimes in the past year, more than all but three other hotspots in London. “Camden Town is a busy shopping and entertainment destination for Londoners and tourists almost 24-hours a day. “With so many people in the area it is inevitable that some of them will be the victim of crime.” The statistics also reveal that there have been roughly 120 crimes in Camden Town for every 1,000 residents over the past 12months, with reported burglaries and vehicle crimes believed to be growing in number. But anti-social behaviour, robberies and violent crimes have decreased since the first half of 2012. Detective Sergeant Lucy Robinson, from the Central Cluster Neighbourhood Police Team, said: “The statistics demonstrate the proactive work by police in the area, who make regular arrests and tackle crime and anti-social behaviour.” She added: “A dedicated Camden Town Centre Team patrol the area and conduct high visibility policing, covert operations and crime prevention to Camden Town’s communities...

The police came into the shed and took him into handcuffs at once. Nelly was so moved by the situation that she jumped out from hiding. With hay and dirt all over her, she asked her father, “How do you know dad, and what did he do?” Her father gave her the strangest look she’s ever seen. “This man is the most wanted convict in all of Texas. He pulled off the biggest heist in recent history. Patrick was the man that stole 40 cows, sold them to factories, and became rich. I knew when I saw the way he handled that steer, he was the man we have been looking for,” said Camden. The story portrayed was strong, descriptive, and showed the highlight of the chapter, Camden. This city sits on the edge of the Delaware River facing Philadelphia and is described in detail from a man named Banks. Banks, is a former prisoner who shot his best friend to death. On page 66, Banks describes the Transitional Park that he runs. Here, he provides free tents to the homeless and makes strict restrictions on fighting, arguing. Additionally, Banks has tent inspections every Saturday. The detail that Banks describes makes me feel like I am at the Transitional Park....
