...identify potential needs. My perception of the goals was to “Improve health-related quality of life and well-being for all individuals.” (HealthyPeople.gov). It is noted that people are living longer and promoting well-being emphasizes a person’s physical, mental, and social resources and enhances protective factors and conditions that foster health. One of the objectives that are associated with this goal according to Healthy People 2020 is: “Increase the proportion of adults who self-report good or better physical health.” (HealthyPeople.gov). The second goal to consider is,”Improve access to comprehensive, quality health care services.” (HealthyPeople.gov). An objective for this goal is, “(Developmental) Increase the proportion of persons who receive appropriate evidence-based clinical preventive services.” (HealthyPeople.gov). Both of these goals and objectives are important as the family nurse practitioner is in an excellent position to be an educator of issues relative to the patient’s health. In addition the nurse practitioner is in the position to promote screening and preventative services. The nurse practitioner also must be knowledgeable about the area that they provide care to as far as resources and referrals that are available. Ava Smith and I had the topic of shopping. ...reducing cost and/or improve return on assets. Q: Which B-schools did you apply for and why did you select ISB? I applied only Indian School of Business for the following 3 reasons: One, Short duration hence lower opportunity cost. Two, Strong global Alumni Network. Finally, Strong brand recognition in Indian market. Q: Please share in detail the application and final selection procedure at your B-School. Application process was fair and simple. In general, there are total two rounds of application with dates in Mid-Oct and Mid-Jan for Class of 2018 with decisions admissions offer being rolled out a month later. After the applications are submitted, admissions team short-lists the candidates for Personal Interviews at college campus and are conducted by Alumni. Where personal interview is not possible, interviews are conducted over video call. There is only one round of interviews and they typically last 20-45 minutes. Q: The programme at your B-School is one of the most expensive programmes. How have you financed the course? Post Graduate Program is ISB’s flagship program and highly regarded in the market. ISB has tie up with all the major banks in India to finance the education (including tuition and other expenses) at very favorable terms. I have partly funded my course through savings and balance through bank loan. Q: What is a typical...

...s disturbing and brutal than it actually is. But rape is rape: the act of male or female taking sexual control or dominance over a nonwilling participant. It does not matter whether or not people feels comfortable discussing the topic of rape. Uncomfortability does not make a problem disappear. It is possible that rape culture is ignored because no one knows a permanent solution for it. But not talking about it will not fix it. An environment where rape culture prevails is on college campuses. 1 in every 4 college students admit to being raped or sexually assaulted on campus, this number fails to include the thousands of rape victims whose stories are never heard. Rape culture prevails on college campus because only an estimated 35% of these victims’ abusers are dealt with. Of those, only an estimated 20 30% percent are dealt with severely. Colleges ignore the severity rape culture on campus because it is a problem that is extremely difficult to remedy, but ignoring a problem will not solve it. “Culture is vital to the human species, but some cultural patterns are destructive” (Herman 45). Rape culture occurs when a set of values or beliefs create an environment that is conducive to rape. Rape culture does not refer to an actual place or setting, but to a culture that directly and indirectly surrounds and supports rape. _Last Name_ 2 Our daughters are taught to be delicate, thoughtful, quiet and sweet. ...The New College Classroom – 25 Students, 12 Handguns Campus life as we know it is about to change and joining the debate team may hit an all-time low. In Texas, the change is coming on August 1, 2017, with a new law allowing students to carry concealed handguns on public University campuses. I assure you that I would feel very uncomfortable sitting in a classroom knowing that there were one, two, five or possibly ten guns in the room with me. And what if a student dropped his backpack and his gun inside accidently discharged? While this may be highly unlikely, I know that each time I saw a backpack fall to the floor, I would react a little differently than before. We have all seen the horror when a troubled person at school is wanting to make a statement by causing as much carnage as possible. Whenever a tragedy happens in this country, we want answers. If a tragedy involves young people within a school, it hits us all even harder and we demand immediate solutions. Supporters of this law state that bad guys will think twice about coming onto a campus knowing their planned attack may be cut short by students packing heat. The National Rifle Association's Executive Vice President and CEO, Wayne LaPierre, says "The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun." While in theory that could be true, I don't buy it. We have seen shootings at police stations, courthouses, Embassy's and many other places where everybody is aware guns are present. If there is...

...Surveillance Awareness Project A proposal prepared by Team Underachievers Shea Polansky Gabriela Cde Baca Jacob Nevarez Elliot Nicholas For Dr. Natasha Jones University of New Mexico 2014-10-21 Team Underachievers Memo TO:Dr. Natasha Jones FROM:Team Underachievers DATE:2014-10-7 SUBJECT:Proposal PURPOSE:To acquaint you with our proposal Dear Dr. Jones, Edward Snowden’s leaks about the National Security Agency’s mass surveillance programs created a global debate about privacy, security, and safety. The NSA has the capability to read email, snoop on private social network conversations, observe phone call records, and track the physical locations of citizens not charged nor suspected of any crime, without so much as a warrant. Worse, the demographic most affected this level of snooping on our digital lives, the 18-24 year-old college crowd, is the least knowledgeable and most politically apathetic about the issue. This is a recipe for disaster, and this proposal seeks funding for an awareness campaign that will address it. This campaign will raise awareness about mass surveillance and the Snowden disclosures. We will use posters and flyers to dry attention to the issue. We will use the University of New Mexico as a testing ground, using before and after surveys to gauge effectiveness. If the campaign proves successful, we will recruit volunteers and raise a second round of funding to bring the campaign to college campuses across...

...obstacle is not settling on the first idea that comes to mind and to try harder to come up with something different. Some may think their first thought is also the best result, but you should challenge yourself to think past your first thought to chime into your creative nature. A personal challenge for me was going back to school. I had to think of all the different obstacles going back to school would pose on my normal day to day routine. Returning to school would interfere with my work schedule, not having time to cook dinner, and causing conflict with my spare time. Then, I realized that there are other ways to attend school and not just going to a standard university campus. I weighed my options by writing out all of the advantages and disadvantages of going to a school online and going to a campus. This included the different programs...

...Learning Hub class showed me ways that I can get information on books, find books, and get a book transferred to a campus close to me. Upon going to The Learning Hub class, I though Houston Community College’s libraries were regular city libraries. Once I got into The Learning Hub class I found out that that was completely wrong. As I sat there listening to Mr. Hord talk about how to begin to look for a book, I found that being in a library at a HCC was going to be the most helpful place in college. When looking for a book at a Houston Community College Library you have to begin with what the title or topic the novel is written about, then go online at the Houston Community College library homepage and type the topic or title in. Once you find the novel you are looking for you can check and see which campuses hold the book, you can see if it is in transit, checked out or requested. If the novel is there at the campus you are at, there is a call number that you can use to find your book in the library. An example of the Call number would be #5303 . R27 2007, that was the call number for the art book I looked for in the Learning Hub Library Class. Once Mr. Hord showed us how to find books, he also explained to us that there is a card called TexShare that students can use. The TexShare card is a free card students can get from any Houston Community College campus at...

...Kyle Esber Jordan Betenson Kristin Romanowski Secondary data research Our group believes that putting Redbox kiosks on Kent States campus would have incredible success. The data we are starting to put together involves Secondary data that we have begun to conduct. Secondary Data can be defined as “information that has previously been gathered by someone other than the researcher and/or for some other purpose than the research project at hand”. Our group has already conducted studies and began our own primary data, but having said that, Secondary data is key in proving that Redbox kiosks will be very popular to Kent’s student body. Internal secondary data by Redbox shows that they prefer to only put these kiosks on campuses with at least 15,000 students, says Liana Solis, who has personally attempted the movement of Kiosks on the campus. Obviously Kent State would be perfect for this with an estimated body of 28,000, which nearly doubles the prerequisite of students. Gathering Secondary data for the Redbox kiosks would have several advantages. After we send out our personally made survey, we will continue to use the resources already created and base what we do off that. One advantage of secondary data gathering is how inexpensive and readily available it is. Another advantage is how quick it can be found. The information has already been done, so it’s already there when you look for it. We have found that Redbox would be very popular through online sources (primary...

...remained at the top of the list every year for a variety of reasons. This list of threats is also unique to college campuses. I will discuss each of the threats in this report. College students love new technology and each year smaller and more powerful devices are hitting the market. Students on the campus have a variety of devices ranging from cell phones, tablets, and laptops. These devices connect to the campus network and are used by students to check email, class schedules, get grades, and many other uses. The challenge is to allow these devices the necessary access and still have a secure network. Each device has to be checked for viruses, spyware, and other types of malware while still maintaining the C-I-A triad. A balance must be found between usability and security. Each time a remote device is connected to the network there is a possibility that the network can be compromised by one these devices. Every device should be authenticated, scanned, and identified. The use of social media has increased in recent years. Students and teachers both use things like Facebook, Myspace, and others. These applications have the potential to transmit malware every time they are used on the campus network. Malware can be embedded in everything from videos to comments. Every time a student or teacher clicks on a video viruses, keystroke loggers, or worms can be installed and start destroying or intercepting data. The infected devices must be identified quickly and the malware removed while...

...Course Date Ch. 4 Question. Do campus speech codes violate student’s right? A speech code in any higher learning institution is a rule or policy that bans expression that would be safe in the community at large. Any rule like pestering policy, a demonstration and protest policy, or an IT standard use policy can be used as a speech code if it bans protected communication or manifestation. Several speech programs impermissibly prevents speech on the base of content and/or perspective. Lately, a decent fear about speaking and sensual actions in learning institutions has reached a climax. Universities have braced guidelines keeping out unpleasant speech naturally directed at ethnic, tribal, and sexual subgroups; engaged it upon themselves by giving trigger cautioning to scholars when courses offered contains contents that might dismay them; excluded sexual actions that may led to rapping cases. In criminal act but are on the unclear condition of force; and limited due process defenses of scholars suspected of violating these instructions. Most of the discussion about language codes, which often ban scholars from making invasive remarks to one another, is much concerned of speech outside of classroom. Two facts should be made while arguing about speech codes amongst campus students. First, pupils who are doomed with the codes and morals on learning institution can take their views to scenes outside of campus to the metropolis near their campus, for example. Second, and most significant...

...POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE ASPECTS OF FRATERNITIES The first thing that enters my mind when I hear the word fraternities are organizations of guys who spend their time drinking beers and having their social gatherings. Well, these accusations have been proven many times on the articles that I have read a long time ago, that most fraternity members, especially on college campuses are seen as drunks who accomplish nothing scholastically or socially. But this impression of mine has changed a little after I have done some researches regarding on the topic. Most people fail to mention the fact that there are some memberships in fraternity who value a life-long experience that help their members develop social organization and study skills and also teach true, everlasting friendship. Fraternities can be organized for many purposes, including university education, working skills, ethics, religion, politics, charity, chivalry, other standards of personal conduct, asceticism service, performing arts, family command of territory and even crime. they were established to nurture pride, leadership, unity and commitment. But the main purpose of a fraternity vanished after the existence of the nowadays fraternities, especially found on college campuses. Results indicated that membership in a fraternity was associated with significantly lower scores on the reading comprehension, mathematics, and critical thinking. This is one of the disadvantages that a member may encounter after he decided to...

...nature. Some people have taken this literally, but some have derived a different meaning from the statement. Many people think that we must firmly control all aspects of nature, plants and animals alike. They believe that all ‘wilderness’ must be stripped away and order must be restored to the land. Others feel that we need an almost sheppard-like approach to nature. As a sheppard watches over, guides, and protects his sheep we must preserve nature and its natural beauty. They believe that nature itself is Eden and we must make ourselves one with nature in order to return to Eden. No matter what the individual believes the end goal is the same, the reinvention of Eden. A specific example of this would be to look at the Bryant University campus. What was once ‘wild’ woodland with trees and plants haphazardly spread about is now filled with manicured lawns and even pathways. They took the wilderness and transformed it using technology into a structured Eden like state. They added a pond with a calming fountain that creates a peaceful setting for people to sit near and relax. The pond could also represent the four rivers that...

...Geog 3740 Jennifer Cypher Thursday, April 4, 2013 Safety at York University Campus Part C: Part D: My research question is “How does York University satisfy the needs of student’s safety that attend the campus.” First I will begin to define the terms “satisfy”, “need”, and “safety” in order to have a clear understanding of what my research topic. When I am addressing the term “satisfy” I mean in what ways of precaution does the university up hold to make them feel at ease throughout the day, the feeling of no fear against any man or woman, what type of protection is the university giving to the students. My second term is discussing the “needs” of students and by this I mean what are the different ways the campus is has provided to students such as posters, emails and safety tips on the bulletin board. The last term is “safety” and by this I mean through protection by security guards, increasing more cameras in less dense areas, or areas with low light during the evening hours. The reason why I chose this research topic is because students and I are noticing lack of security on campus throughout the day and decrease of actions to amplify safety tips or actions towards the students. As crime increases on the York University campus, I would be interested of knowing and understanding where these events are taking place and determining what the solutions or outcome. I have been at this wonderful University for three years now and notice more security presence now then there...
