Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Captain America: The Winter Soldier is about Steve Rogers also known as Captain America (Chris Evans) who is still learning to maneuver his life to today modern life versus his original time period during WWII. Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) who works for SHIELD has been there for Rogers to make sure he has what he needs to be comfortable and adjusted to modern society. Throughout the film, Rogers is trying to defeat the Winter Soldier, who he later finds out is his old time friend Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), from harming many innocent civilians.
The scene I chose was after Fury was attacked and almost killed by SHIELD and the Winter Soldier and went to Roger’s apartment. At the beginning of the film, Fury explained that his grandfather always had trust issues, which lead the audience to believe that he too had trust issues. This is seen in this scene because he is quietly sitting in Rogers living room with the lights off. At the same time, Rogers is talking to his neighbor who later tells him he left his stereo on. Recalling that he never had it on he sneaks into his apartment to later find Fury sitting down peacefully.
The music that is heard at the apartment is from the 40s and the quality sounds like it could be a record playing. The music is diegetic and can be heard in the background as Rogers and Fury secretly discuss the situation. At the moment Rogers has no idea what Fury has gone through and Fury is trying to give Rogers hints by typing on his cell phone two to three words such as “SHIELD IS COMPROMISED”. To me the music did not seem like it matched the situation but it made sense in how it was used as a distraction for anyone who could be listening into their conversation. The music continued to play even after Fury eventually got shot by The Winter Soldier who was on an opposite building from them. While Roger’s apartment was being shot, the music continued, which almost seem like everything was still normal and nothing had occurred. The music continued all throughout the scene up until it no longer was at Roger’s apartment. There was some dialogue after the shots. It was simple but to the point. Fury was telling Rogers to trust no one. At this point there is some confusion of what should be done over the new information Rogers received from Fury that was stored in a USB like device with vital SHIELD information.
In all, the music did not match the action and double crossing. It matched in that it belonged to the time period that Rogers and Bucky were from. It came in only when it was introduced by Rogers neighbor and faded out after Rogers left to find The Winter Soldier.

Captain America Historical Accuracy

...The movie Captain America is an entertaining twist to the events of World War II. World War II was a tragic event for many countries. Many families across the world lost their loved ones. There are many historical inaccurate facts portrayed in the movie. The directors added in new parts and eliminated the accuracy of World War II. The United States entered World War II after Japan bombed the United States at Pearl Harbor. In the movie there is no indication why we enter the War, but we are already involved when the movie begins. The directors leave out this information because the point of the movie is to entertain the viewers not to inform. The focus of the movie is on the Nazis and a group called Hydra, by including Pearl Harbor the director...

Why Captain America: Civil War Is Hitting All the Right Notes

...opinions of loyal fans, teetering on the good and the bad. But, occasionally, one such film will come along that is less about superheroes with some human emotions, and more about humans with super abilities, forcing you to acknowledge that superheroes are people too, and say, “Now, that, was a movie.” Because at its heart, that’s what Captain America: Civil War is all about. Real people in real situations with some superhuman powers thrown in for good measure. The heart of the conflict is an ideological difference of opinion between the two sides, and in a surprising turn of events, it’s our very own law-abiding, orders-following Captain who’s opposing the decisions of the Government to pass the Sokovia Accords in the aftermath of their epic battle in Sokovia as shown in Age of Ultron. Thus, the Avengers, for the first time in Marvel history, stand divided, but it is heart-warming to see that despite it all, there exists zero animosity; it’s friends against friends, and no Accord can strain that relationship over a single night. But add to that a conspiracy involving Cap’s Achilles Heel, Bucky (played by the dashing Sebastian Stan), and you have Captain and his team rallying to protect him from being wrongfully tried for a crime he didn’t commit, turning them into outlaws, vigilantes, criminals…you name it. Jaw dropping action sequences have always been Marvel’s plus-point, and Civil War does not fail to disappoint in that (or any) category. Love Bucky or hate him, but you can’t...

...lives but isn't a doctor. He has bullet proof protection but don't confuse him for the wimpy FBI. Fighting for the red, white, and blue he is living symbol for freedom, but don't confuse him with the president. Captain America- despite him being a super soldier- provides idealistic life and morality: he is a strong role model for americans and always views things on the bright side, while being a great leader. He is not only the best superhero ever but gives hope to everyone and provides a positive message on never giving up. He started from the bottom of the pit and never gave up; he became the best “man” he could, even though he had a little help from science. Transforming his life to be accepted, volunteering to become a super soldier, accepting his new reality, Captain America never gives up. People look up to him because he started off not accepted by societies view; he was a scrawny malnourished man that got rejected multiple times. Even though he had the help of military science, the olympic athlete abilities and physical attractiveness gave people hope that if they never give up they can succeed at anything they want. He is still human though. “ But we are also human beings, with feelings and emotions.” (page 59 Our Superhero Ourself) says Captain America, this shows people that even though he has this special ability he can relate to how humans feel and how tough it is to over come that specific standard. People can relate to him after the science experiment just...

Civil War

...Captain America: Civil War Submitted to: Ms. Abigail Deabanico Submitted by: Jan Michael Eli SM. Bautista (1 Microbiology) Submitted On: May 2, 2016 Captain America: Civil War (April 2016) Following the events of the previous film in the Marvel Franchise, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War was released in April 27, 2016. The film’s events come directly after what happened in the second avengers movie: the Avengers has lost the faith of the public due to their otherwise ‘heroic’ actions that consequently puts the lives of the innocent in jeopardy. Another factor that instigates this is the mission Steve Rogers or Captain America (Chris Evans), Sam Wilson (Anthonie Mackie), Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson), and Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) in Lagos, Nigeria. They were trying to stop the then-turncoat security official, Crossbones (Frank Grillo), from obtaining a biological weapon. In the fight, he planned on committing suicide, in order to take down Captain America with him. However, Wanda notices this and decides to contain the explosion (and Crossbones) within a container formed from her psyche powers and sends it upward, detonating it. Unfortunately, she sends it near a commercial building, and the explosion kills innocents. Following this disaster, the United Nations decided to make the Sokovia Accords, where in the Avengers will be placed under a governing body. This divides the Avengers, with one side supporting the Sokovia Accord with Tony Stark (Robert...

The Avengers Review

...him off as to the "Avengers Initative." There is a bigger picture, he told him -- and here it is: The be-all but not (they're hoping) the end-all of the current craze for CGI-enhanced superheroics. Interspersing flip one-liners with a host of larger-than-life characters and the usual flurry of fight-and-flight scenes, the film is never less than amusing. Still, it's never more than amusing either. Marvel Studios has made it a point of pride to diverge from the grim severity popularized in the DC / Warner Bros Batman films. The lightness is fun but it doesn't offer much of a foundation on which to build an epic. And let's face it, there's more than a whiff of opportunism about a project that pits a defrosted World War II hero, Captain America (Chris Evans), an inventor-industrialist, Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), the pagan lightning god, Thor (Chris Hemsworth), a scientist with anger-management issues, Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), and SHIELD agents Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) against the Norse god of mischief, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) and a legion of marauding aliens. In 3-D. Meet the boss of 'The Avengers' Chris Hemsworth is 'Thor' Chatting with the 'Iron Man 2' cast Still, Whedon (who shares a screenplay credit with Zak Penn) is a very sharp operator. He knows which buttons to press and where there's room for a little diversion. The improbability of this misfit coalition becomes the movie's most rewarding asset. Imagine the bristling egos...

The section detailing reckless behavior in relation to depression was such a throughout depiction of Steve’s behavior, it was only missing a picture. Steve had always stood up for the little guy, this was in part his defiant personality that gave leeway to an impulse to defy bullies. Bucky had always justified his brash action with such reasoning, but it became apparent there was no little guy. Just Steve, and his persistent audacious demeanor that now attracted Bucky’s concern. — The world would be horrified to find Captain America dead at his own hand. Nothing hurt the Captain, a perfectly resilient icon. Steve Rogers, however, has been hurting all his life. When he was younger, he had dismissed the ache as something he would become acclimated with, pushed it away to serve as second throb to match his heart. When it demanded attention Steve banished it with smiles and a constant monologue reminding himself that he was fine. When he couldn’t eradicate it, he subdued it. When he could not longer subdue it, he angled that plane in downward direction and closed his eyes. Almost as though enacting revenge for his attempt annihilate it, it awoke with him, stronger than before, bringing its ally, guilt. ...Philosophy 100 Tu/Th 1-2:15 pm A Perfect Mind, Lost Without memory We are dependent on our memories. According to John Locke, memories give us personhood. In the movie Captain America Winter Soldier, Steve Rogers was a war hero that was frozen, then unfrozen decades later. Steve missed years of information and a lifetime of experiences. This surreal scenario portrays how hard it was for him to integrate into a new generation. This relates to John Locke’s view on memory; Steve does not feel like his normal self, because he was robbed of memories, which made the new generation seem very complicated and odd. What made things even worse, was that people still viewed him as the old “Captain America”. In this case, his friends still saw him as the same person physically, however, mentally he was not. He was physically the same, but his mind was confused and lost; thus showing that mind is separate from the body. His physical attributes did not lose a step, but he was mentally damaged. Captain America provides examples of people being immaterial souls. People are who they are and act in certain ways due to their mind, not their bodies. People live through their memories and experiences. People know what to do and when to do it because of their past and their consciousness telling them right from wrong. Captain America suffered because his mind was frozen; his body is only relevant, because his mind is stored in his body. The body is just a physical, lifeless corpse. That is the only...

Performance Critique

...Performance Critique The play I chose to see for this review was Marvel Universe Live. It was an action packed thrill ride of an experience and a great play. The entertainment company who created this act is Feld Entertainment they’ve had multiple other players like Disney on Ice, and the Barnum & Bailey Circus. This play includes a lot of Marvel identities that everyone is familiar with and some may not be like Black Widow, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Cyclops, Electro, The Falcon, Green Goblin, Hawkeye, The Hulk, Iron Man, Loki, Nick Fury, Red Skull, Rhino, Spider Man, Storm, Thor, & Wolverine and also many other characters in the Marvel universe .The plot of the play is about Thor shatters the cosmic cube and the pieces scatter across the world and the bad guys get a hold of these pieces and of course the good guys have to stop them. The actors in the performance you could hear them very well in the BJCC even when we sat at the tip top of the arena. The actors had great chemistry on the stage and you can tell they’ve been acting for a very long time. They villains moved like they were big and bad and the heroes moved like well no one can mess with them. The stage which they performed on was the court of the BJCC and the stage was awesome there was a lot of props. Like I said the stage was huge so there was a lot of room for character interaction and it all made sense for the performance. The set was pretty epic with the props the special effect the lighting and everything...

Pitch for Film Adaptation: Marvel's Black Panther

...characters to generations of the future and I believe that one that needs the most focus is a work that we've had in the cannon for a long time: “The Black Panther”. Due to the increased interest in the “Avengers” universe, over the years, bringing in new, classic characters that fit into the “Avengers” history will be easier than ever (and more than essential, knowing that Fox owns the rights to a large number of key players of the franchise) and a richly written and established character such as T’Challa is all the simpler to bring into the new Marvel film universe. Though, with the whole of materials dedicated to his story, it was a bit difficult to find one that would best lead him into the genre in the same way that Iron Man or Captain America were, but we found one: Reginald Hudlin and John Romita Jr.’s “Black Panther”. The story is very direct in its introduction to T’Challa’s ascension to the throne of Wakanda and the primary antagonist being his own usurpers, rival neighboring nations and super-human mercenaries sets the perfect tone to what should evolve into a new edition to the advanced fantasy/sci-fi hybrid of the current Marvel film universe. By covering the core pieces of the story in the earlier stages of the film, we can limit the number of central super-villains...

Bucky: A Short Story

...BOY HOWDY. CAN I???? Bucky and the reader have been dating for a while and recently moved into an apartment together in the Avengers tower. Reader was in charge of the decorating and didn’t keep Bucky’s arm in mind when decorating their fridge and wakes up to a rather hilarious surprise. I purposely didn't specify the gender of the reader so, yeah, anyone can be the reader. “Y/N!” you heard your new housemate shouting from somewhere in the apartment. You scrambled out of bed and followed his voice. Bucky rarely shouted so when he did you knew it was important. Maybe something was wrong? Something always was around here. It’s like you guys never got a break. You practically sprinted into the kitchen and skidded to a stop. “Bucky what’s wrong?” you asked, out of breath. You looked at him and he had a very distressed look on his face. “You promise not to laugh?” he asked. You quirked up an eyebrow. If someone was wrong why would you laugh? “No….” you trailed. Let’s be honest. If whatever he was talking about was funny, you were gonna laugh. He rolled his eyes at you and slowly held out his metal arm. You examined it quickly then erupted into a fit of laughter. “Y/N!” Bucky pouted. “It isn’t funny!” You forced yourself to stop laughing so loudly and covered your mouth with your hand. You couldn’t help but snicker. Bucky had managed to get every refrigerator magnet you’d bought, stuck to his arm. “Okay, okay, I’m sorry,” you said, still snickering. “You're right it’s not funny...
