One factor which influences the demand of the customers could be the weather. This question has to be answered to react on the customers needs. Due to the fact that the competitive situation in this branch is under pressure it is very important for Car Sharing Models to offer cars which are most needed by the customer. To achieve a high acceptance of the customer the planning of the buying department has to be adjusted to the customer needs. The result should answer the question if the customers choose cars by considering the weather conditions. The result could be that customers are using more of convertibles when the sun is shining. Another result could be that the people are using the X1 more when it is snowing because this model has an all-wheel drive. Moreover the customers could use the other BMW models less when it is snowing, because the rear wheel drive is less comfortable and less save on a snowy underground. Another result could be that the type of the vehicle does not depend on the weather. Note: This research summary builds on the findings of a previous literature review “Changing Consumer Behavior” presented at the 2012 annual Forum meeting. Many of the issues and key findings related to sustainable consumption are addressed there. Sustainable consumption is a rich and nuanced topic for which extensive literature exists. While not the primary focus of this review, the concepts around sustainable consumption provide a context for exploring specific activities of individual consumers such as renting, repairing, reusing, borrowing, sharing of goods and the ways that governments engage in promoting, influencing and regulating these activities Background While the broader concept of sustainable consumption has been the focus of international policy and research, the formation of the “sharing economy” is an emerging trend that is just now capturing the interest of researchers, policy...

Research Online is the open access institutional repository for the University of Wollongong. For further information contact the UOW Library: research-pubs@uow.edu.au Ethical Issues arising from the Real Time Tracking and Monitoring of People Using GPS-based Location Services Abstract The Global Positioning System is a constellation of 24 satellites which have the ability to calculate the position, time and velocity of any GPS receiver. Ethical concerns arise when a person carrying a receiver has their location transmitted to second party. This type of tracking has a wide variety of applications including tracking dementia sufferers, tracking parolees and law enforcement. A literature review found that the ethics of GPS tracking has not been thoroughly assessed. This paper investigates the ethical issues arising from the real time tracking of people using GPS-based location services. Usability context analysis and an observational study were the methodology used in this study. Usability context analysis provided insight into GPS tracking over the contexts of care, control and convenience. Its current applications could be seen in the tracking of Alzheimer’s patients, parents tracking children, law enforcement, parolee and sex offenders...

...The Journal of Applied Business Research – May/June 2015 Volume 31, Number 3 Collaborative Consumption And Sustainability: A Discursive Analysis Of Consumer Representations And Collaborative Website Narratives Anne-Sophie Binninger, NEOMA Business School, France Nacima Ourahmoune, NEOMA Business School, France Isabelle Robert, University Lille Nord de France-SKEMA Business School, France ABSTRACT In this article, the authors analyze the collaborative consumption model and its contribution to sustainable consumption. Indeed, collaborative consumption is considered as an alternative, ecological consumption mode (Bostman & Rogers, 2011), but previous research has no yet deeply explored to what extent it contributes the sustainable scheme and values. The study therefore investigates both the producer side (collaborative websites) and consumer side (blog participants) to decipher how sustainable ideals are shaped in this context and how consumers attend to them. Six segments of consumers have been identified which can help marketing and sustainable levers better frame their offer. Keywords: Collaborative Consumption; Sustainable Consumption; Access-Based Consumption; Sharing INTRODUCTION O ver the last decade, markets have changed significantly in terms of our relationship to goods, leading to other forms of acquisition and consumption than via possession (Rifkin, 2000, Lovelock and Gummeson 2004, Mont, 2002, Giesler 2006, Chen, 2009, Belk, 2010, Gansky 2010; Bostman & Rogers...

...Research Method (Sarah) Introduction The research method is outlined by an alternative study of the plan. This study will look at three main aspects: the technical specifications of the subject matter, the personal account, and the literary interpretation. The architectural plan is traditionally represented without the human figure, or as Robin Evans has pointed out, drawn as “amoebic” figures. Architectural drawings are often studied with a technical slant, although architecture has long been considered as “social artifact”1 . Thus literature, accompanied by photographic illustrations, is emergent as a device to test architectural apparatus, particularly in the domestic realm where aspects of dwelling and occupancy are not as closely recorded in formal documents as its physical history (e.g. building completion, demolition). This enables us to investigate the relationship between the building plan and its occupants, to understand the architecture as a dwelling. Technical specifications The Pearl Bank Apartments, built in 1972, was built to offer a transcendent mode of living that differentiated the uppermiddle class. More than its unprecedented stature that boasted an elite model of highdensity living, an interior component was specifically marketed as a key selling point — the living room. In the original Pearl Bank Apartments sales brochure, the text and images boast a large and brightlylit living room attached to a doublevolume ...

...Kelsey Squiers PP&D 212 March 14, 2014 University of California Biking Proposal – Environmental Impacts Background In the spring of 2013, the University of California, Irvine (UCI) was ranked by the League of American Bicyclists (LAB), one of the most respected bicycle advocacy associations in the country, as a Silver level bike-friendly university. The LAB’s ranking system is based on five “E” aspects (engineering, education, encouragement, enforcement, and evaluation). A Silver ranking means that UCI “[d]efinitely feel[s] welcoming to bikes but there is still usually work to be done in two or three of the “E”s to undergird the bicycling culture and opportunities” (bikeleague.org). While UCI provides sustainable transportation incentives, has some infrastructure for biking, a bike-rental program, and is home to a few bike-enthusiast clubs, the campus is falls short in three of the LAB’s “E”s: Engineering, Education, and Encouragement. Engineering: There are three types of bicycle routes on the UCI campus. These include dedicated bicycle paths, pedestrian/bicycle shared paths, roads with bike lanes, and a small number of sharrows (located on the roads within housing complexes). Currently, there are only three distinct sections of the UCI campus that have dedicated bicycle lanes, which are all located on the outskirts of campus. The most commonly used bike path within the UCI campus is a mixed pedestrian/bicycle path encircling Aldrich Park. Roads with bike lanes make...
