Four Examples of Career Plans CAREER PLAN EXAMPLE 1 Looking ahead at what is coming in the next month makes reality sink in. It feels like I just started college a couple of months ago and looking for a career is years away. Looking at the questions in the book makes me realize what type of career I am truly interested in. The many questions of money dwell in everyone's minds from time to time. After graduating from UMD I will probably have around $7,000 worth of college loans to pay back. I am interested in staying in Minnesota for a couple of years to get started and take some time off from schooling. In general, we all want to have lots of money, live in a nice home and drive a nice car or two. For me a nice comfortable place is all I am in need of after graduation. I have a nice reliable car that my dad is helping me pay for. So, transportation is not a concern I have. Working with others is something I enjoy doing. I enjoy talking and solving problems in group settings. In general, I like to know what is going to happen each day, but I also enjoy excitement. A little bit of both would be the ideal job for me. Depending on what the weather is like is if I want to be indoors or outdoors. If it were nice and sunny I would prefer to be outside enjoying the rays. When it comes to supervision, I prefer an atmosphere where there is not a lot of control and supervision. I am the type of person who likes to get the instructions and then be left by myself or with a group to do the assignment or task. Someday down the road if the situation arises I wouldn't mind taking on the job of supervisor or executive. Work related travel would not bother me. I like to travel and explore new places. Weekly travel may become overwhelming, but traveling every other week or something like that would be fine with me. Job security is very important to me. Once I found the job that I feel

Success

...Education is the first pillar in being successful. It helps a person to think critically and analyse situation from different point of views. The second pillar to success is a successful career; this allows meeting new people and network with some of the brightest people. The last pillar of success is to be financially strong. Being financially strong helps a person be independent. In my opinion success is taking the right measures and working hard to achieve a high-level of education, a successful career, and being financially strong. Education is known as the key to success. The educated the person the more likely it is to be successful. Learning is power that at a different level than others. Education is not always about studying and reading books; it is taking your experience and applying what you have learned to live a more prosperous life. An article from Bloomberg called “Obama Tells Students That Hard Work in School Pays Off for Future Success” quotes Obama saying “Excelling, whether it’s in school or in life, isn’t mainly about being smarter than everybody else, that’s not really the secret to success. It’s about working harder than everybody else.” (Bloomberg, 2010) President Obama’s words emphasize about the success of America lies in its student being smarter than everyone else. In order to succeed in my college career and take the next step toward my career choice of criminal justice, I know I will have to work on one of my weaknesses, which is writing. I know that writing is stressed to be important in my career choice, so taking a workshop to improve my writing skills will help me in the future. I can both improve my chances of success in my college classes and in my career, if I work on developing my writing skills. The weakness that I struggle with the most and feel that needs to be corrected in order to succeed in my college career is my weakness of procrastination. ...provide a written report on the nature, duration and time of the practical experience completed, which shall be verified by the candidate’s employer. Steps to be followed: 1. Candidates are to complete a self-evaluation, using the tables provided. Candidates will look at each competency sub-category and asses where their competency should be ranked (i.e. CS 1 (Acquisition), CS 2 (Basic Proficiency), CS 3 (Advanced Proficiency) or CS 4 (Mastery)). 2. For every competency within each function and enabling competency category, candidates are to provide a recent example of how this competency has been demonstrated in the workplace. This will support your overall ranking in each area (i.e. CS 1 through to CS 4). 3. All reports must be verified by your manager, or a CMA who is knowledgeable of your work experience, before submitting this report to the CMA office. The employer is verifying the examples provided, not confirming the competency level at which the candidate is working based on the self-evaluation.
