Code Switching Essay In 2013, A new language spoken only by people who were 35 years of age or younger was discovered in a remote community in northern australia(Shaw Alexis).
The language was known as Light Warlpiri according to Carmel O’Shannessy, an assistant professor of linguistics at University of Michigan,Light Warlpiri is a melding of English,Kriol and Warlpiri.O’Shannessy said that while she worked at a school in Northern Australia,she realized that students would switch between the languages they spoke in the same conversation and sometimes even switched back and forth between languages within the same sentence.
