Online Learning Versus Traditional Learning

...pace. You can’t do that in a traditional classroom learning setting. People without hectic lives prefer the traditional classroom learning so they can get the help from the teacher on a one on one level and be able to turn in assignments to a person not through a computer. They prefer more structured settings and being able to ask for help from fellow students also on a one on one level. I’ve done both, and I prefer the online learning due to more time to do assignments at my own pace and I don’t feel rushed. I felt rushed in a classroom setting. With online learning, you don’t have to worry about carrying books from class to class everyday. Most books are online now for online learning. People who do classroom learning have to carry books from class to class everyday. I think in time they will get tired of carrying those books on their backs, but that’s my opinion. I prefer reading my book for my class online that way there’s no turning it in at the end of the semester or yr., depending on how your...

Geanean

...Geanean Mckenzie Professor Weiss Modes Of Analysis Character Of Analysis Essay 2/16/14 In Tim O’Brien “The Things They Carried” The first story in the collection introduces the cast of characters that reappear throughout the book. The cast is made up of the soldiers of the Alpha Company, led by First Lieutenant Jimmy Cross. The platoon is deployed to fight in the Vietnam War. The narrator, O’Brien, is one of the soldiers, and he distinguishes one soldier from another in this first story by the items that they carry. Authors as far back as Homer described soldiers going into battle by naming the things that they carried: goatskins filled with water, spears, and locks of hair from their beloved ones. O’Brien updates this literary strategy. His characters carry the modern implements of war. But the feeling evoked is similar: static lists make the characters seem already dead, prematurely mourned. The lists are like wills. The first story is told in third person, with some insight into the mind of Jimmy Cross. This movement between perspectives is called free indirect discourse, and serves to distance the reader from the soldiers. The reader sees them as if they were in a movie, moving slowly across an unfamiliar landscape, carrying their various burdens. The ancient movement of men going to war is juxtaposed with the rough, modern language of the soldiers themselves. They use slang, swear at each other, and try to diffuse the feeling of danger and helplessness by describing death...

...The Beach Carrier is a new product concept developed by Mary Ricci. It is a large, lightweight, durable bag that is designed to carry everything required for a day at the beach, including a chair. The Beach Carrier can be folded down to a 12-inch by 12-inch square for easy storage when not in use. It comes with an adjustable strap and various-sized pockets for carrying all types of items to the beach or other outdoor activities (i.e. concerts, picnics, and barbecues). Currently Mary Ricci does not have the capital to produce her newly designed beach carrier bag and has decided not to lease or sell the design to a manufacture for a flat fee. The Beach Carrier possesses several strengths relative to competitive products in the market, including the following: 1. The overall product concept differentiates itself by being the only single bag that can carry all of the things needed for a day at the beach. 2. The Beach Carrier can be easily used and stored when not in use and it can be folded down to a 12-inch by 12-inch square. 3. The Beach Carrier is large and roomy and contains multiple compartments and different-sized pockets. It can accommodate carrying items varying in size from a bottle of sunscreen to a beach chair or ski boots. 4. It is manufactured in a lightweight, tear-resistant, fade-proof fabric that dries quickly and is suitable for various outdoor activities. 5. Briefcases, Bags, and the Image of Professionalism

...An image can say a lot about a person. It influences how we feel about ourselves as well as how others see us. There are different factors that go into creating a professional image and a significant one is the way we dress. By dressing appropriately, we can create a professional image that others admire. One essential item that every man and woman should have is a carrying case, such as a briefcase or handbag. By having a bag to hold important documents and supplies, the person is perceived as more organized and professional than someone who does not have one (Doche, 2013). Different bags have become more popular and trends have changed for both men and women. Men are no longer using classic box briefcases (Smith, 1997). Instead they are moving towards a sleeker briefcase with compartments for mobile devices (Doche, 2013). Women, on the other hand, are starting to use more gender-neutral handbags ("Working Guide,” 2013). For both genders, the use of an appropriate carrying case is essential to maintaining a professional image. Therefore we must discover what type of carrying case is appropriate. To begin our analysis, we will first analyze the type of carrying case that is appropriate for men. Traditionally, most men carried a fairly large, hard, hinged box briefcase (Smith, 1997). This served the purpose of safely transporting papers and office supplies (Smith, 1997). However, times have changed. As early as the 1990s, the introduction of electronic portable devices has greatly...

Roman Women

...Betty Mundy His 103 Professor Dr. Loveland June 2, 2015 History we make every day, unaware that we are even doing so. Some people feel that history is not an important, but where would we be if not for history? Would we be living in poverty in a shack, or would our society be ruled by one and not the majority. Could you imagine being told what job you would perform due to your social class? Another thought, would we know our heritage, or perhaps what our ancestor’s went through. I fear a world where history is not important. I personally feel that we need to remember history, learn from it and improve ourselves along with society. To have family history is a blessing in my eyes. So many adopted individuals have no information on their true heritage. To truly know the whole story of your great grand parents and their struggles, or to be able to say I am seventy five percent German and a mix of Irish and Native American, is special. History can be seen on so many different levels of our everyday lives. On a broader scope of the picture, history we can learn from it. There is no need to keep repeating the mistakes of the past. For example, Hilter as a leader. To try and remove one section of society due to religious beliefs, making everyone live in fear of having to face the gas chambers. Not accepting humans if they were not blonde and blue eyed. This was the earlier form of being a racist and stereotyping, which in today’s society it would be frowned upon and even...

O’Brien then tells of his post war life and of his trip back to Vietnam with his own daughter. When O’Brien is finished with war anecdotes, he tells one final story of how when he was nine, the love of his life, Linda, passed away. This final story brings the book to end with O’Brien explaining how stories help him survive because they give him an illusion of aliveness for those who have passed away and help lift the burden that he carries. 2) Throughout the entire book, the things soldiers carry to war appear as a major theme and they also portray soldiers’ feelings and hardship. Those men carry weight on their shoulder both figuratively and literally. The things the...

...vital part of the school system and acts as a helping hand to the school and its students. This role is a leading demonstration of the school’s abilities and I feel that I am ready to take on such responsibilities. Having addressed fairly large crowds, I am now a clearer and more confident communicator. This will not only help me manage large groups of people but also help me in carrying out requests to improve the school community. One key element of this position is to assist the staff in running the school smoothly, however there is more to the position. A prefect is looked up to by younger pupils and is there to set an example for others to follow. In the 3 years that I have been at St Christopher’s School, I have seen past prefects carry out their duties and as a younger pupil then, I admired how much effort they put into these duties, thus making me learn from them. I will therefore utilise what I have learnt to become a successful prefect. Helping students’ progress through school is possibly the most important feature of a prefect’s duty. Volunteering to work with younger pupils in my previous school not just academically but also socially has given me an insight into this vital role. Assisting whoever is in need, whether they're troubled by academic or personal problems is essential and I feel ready to take on that task. It will be a delight to help the staff and pupils and it will be my way of giving something back to the school community. I am keen to offer my service...

...EXECUTIVE SUMMARY PURPOSE The purpose of this report is to assess the compliance of Nightingale Community Hospital (NCH) in accordance with the Joint Commission’s National Patient Safety Goals for 2012. This report will focus exclusively on the Priority Focus Area of Communication and its subsequent standards: * UP.01.01.01 – Conduct a preprocedure verification process. * UP.01.02.01 – Mark the procedure site. * UP.01.03.01 – A time-out is performed before the procedure. Three recommendations are suggested for this improvement: (a) procedure...
