Case Study Analysis Paper Draft While only three copies of the orientation manuals were found and several pages were missing from each, some new trainees did not have applications completed. Many of the new trainees did not have transcripts on file. Carl Robins which was the new campus recruiter also discovered that none of the trainees had taken the mandatory drug screen. The new hire orientation was due to take place June 15, Carl not knowing the training room was already booked for the entire month of June had a problem. Carl was very confused and frustrated not knowing what to do next. ABC Inc hired Carl Robins in early April as the new campus recruiter. Carl had only been on the job for six months. Being a determined individual he decides to hire 15 new trainees to work for the operations supervisor. Carl figured everything within the company was run correctly and all paper work should have been in place for the process of hiring new individuals. The training schedule consisted of, drug tests, orientation, policy booklets, physicals and tons of other issues. To begin this process Carl needed to go over all the necessary paperwork needed for the orientation beginning on June 15. The first problem found was some of the new trainees did not have applications completed or their transcripts on file. Challenges aroused because this was supposed to been done and completed. For Carl to get the correct information needed before June 15, phones call have to be made to the individuals who did not complete the applications and do not have a transcript on file. Before any hiring can take place the applications must be completed and all transcripts must be ordered and on file. After this important information is retained Carl can proceed with the new hire process. After digging deep to make sure all important information was on file Carl discover none of the new trainees had been sent for the mandatory drug screen. This was a huge problem, because no one could start or get hired without the drug screen. Upon finding this problem only three copies of the orientation manuals was found and several pages was missing from each. Carl was puzzled and had no clue of what to do. By Carl being the new campus recruiter he had to get this corrected before June 15. To prepare for the new trainees solutions must be identified and problems must be recognized. To resolve the problem a meeting needs to take place to discuss the problems with the new trainee information. Holding a recruiting planning meeting with the hiring manager, the hr leader, and a coworker would be a good idea. Thinking creatively about the problems can help get the necessary work done. Maybe the operations supervisor can start a new class around another date, and get other individuals to help Carl with producing new orientation manuals and setting up dates for the new trainees to take the mandatory drug screen. This way Carl would not be the only person trying to bring together the correct information that should have been done before he was hired back in April. Carl looking around reviewed the scheduling log and discovers the training room was already reserved for the entire month of June. The new hire orientation was a complete mess and no way could the training start by June 15 with all the problems going on with the schedule, manuals, and drug tests. The plan of action must be specific and clear, and the material must be appropriate for the new trainees. Calling in all the new trainees to complete the drug screen should be the first step to getting the job done. While the new trainees go over there applications, other employees within ABC Inc will get the transcript ordered and on file. Once the applications are completed and all transcripts are on file. The mandatory drug screening must begin. The clinic can only take one individual a day to test; this will take a total of 3 weeks. New manuals will be made while testing and waiting on the results. The orientation manual covers new material listed as the introduction and several steps to help the new trainees understand everything about ABC Inc. Once all important information is completed the new hire orientation can take place, but the date has to be changed to a later date, because the training room was booked for the month of June. July 15 set the official date for the new hire orientation, and by then all applications will be completed with transcripts on file, the drug screens will be completed and the new manuals will be reprinted and ready for the new hire orientation. Now Carl can relax because he knows everything will be completed and the new orientation can begin on July 15. After the trainees are completed with the orientation the individuals can begin working with the operations supervisor and continue to make ABC Inc strive for the best. Carl responsibilities are important to the company. If he continues with the correct way of processing new hires ABC Inc will be a success. Planning recruitment for a company and making the best decision to ensure the proper action is rewarding. Carl can recommend for the important actions to take place before any hiring goes into affect. ABC Inc will succeed in its efforts to hire and train new employees for the company. Now that the important requirements are prioritized, advertising and making sure the problems never happen again will be important. The employee selection process will improve with recruiting activities and the planning meeting. Having selection process and improved recruiting ensures that ABC Inc will succeed. Having inadequate training and poor planning can have detrimental consequence and lead to a company’s deterioration from within. Considering the above elements has made Carl more prepared to accomplish his new hire process. Carl will be able to create a plan of action that will create an outstanding company. There were a number of problems encountered during the recent hiring process. The cause of the problem was due to lack of planning and employee experience. This case study was intended to recommend and identify ways to improve ABC Inc’s process.
