Communication Paper

...HCS/490 WEEK 4 INDIVIDUAL PAPER Communication Paper Your name here HCS/490 Date here Instructor’s name here Communication Paper As the health care industry moves its focus on to the Electronic Health Records (EHR) era and the United States moves towards a more patient-centered health care system, Patient Portals offer patients a way to efficiently interact and electronically communicate with their health care providers. A Patient Portal is an online interactive communication tool, where patients log in and have access to their personal health records such as lab and diagnostic testing results. Patients have a personalized way of managing their health information as well as make requests and changes related to their health care. In addition to accessing personal health records, patients can also schedule appointments, request prescription refills, view past visits, and even make changes to their existing plan coverage. This is especially helpful when patients travel out of the country, to another health care facility or when they are referred to another physician, such as a specialist. Patients can control and easily access their own personal medical history to share as they see fit. This also allows patients to feel more at ease when sharing their personal health history with others. Additionally, patients can effectively communicate with staff members about payments, and other non-medically related topics. Patient portals also offer links to useful services...

For example there is Coverage First, HMO, High Deductible Health Plan, Humana Classic, and Humana Simplicity. Humana Simplicity is a co-payment only plan, no deductible will need to be paid. Humana also offers a variety of products and services with their coverage plans, including a prescription drug plan (Humana Health Insurance, Medicare, & Dental Insurance, 2015). This female is an 80 year old widow, and takes several medications for chronic health conditions that must be monitored daily. It is important to find an affordable plan that fits her needs. For this individual there are two plans that she could choose from that would fit her needs. Humana has an Individual plan and a Medicare plan. The Individual plan includes medical, prescription drug coverage, and discounted dental and vision plans (Humana Health Insurance, Medicare, & Dental Insurance 2015). The Humana Medicare Advantage Plan probably makes the most since. The Medicare Advantage Plan offers more benefits, both medical and drug coverage are combined into one, and at no cost it includes a wellness program (Humana Health Insurance, Medicare, & Dental Insurance, 2015). ...Communications Paper Tamara Cordova HCS/490 February 26, 2013 Tina Folk-Cromartie Communications Paper The communication modality is Electronic Medical Records (EMR). The EMR provides benefits to the patients such as better communication with providers. EMR helps provide information quicker and making access to information more accessible. There are some issues with privacy, such as HIPAA privacy, but it is becoming fixed rapidly. EMR opens up opportunity for social networking and media opportunities. The EMR markets health care and the services available with broader audiences. In this paper these topics will be discussed. “Patient doctor communication (PDC) is most powerful, encompassing, and versatile instruments available to the physician” (Shachak & Reis, n.p. 2009). The benefits offer to the patient is helping to share better understanding between patients and the doctors. The EMR had “positive influence on exchange of medical information” (Shachak & Reis, n.p. 2009). EMR helps patients to feel confident in asking questions and feeling there was accomplishments at the end of his or her appointment. The patients can login online with his or her provider and have communications with the clinic. For example, make appointments, see health history, current medications, and ask questions. Communication Paper

...Communication Paper Sara Cox HCS/490 November 4, 2013 Yvette Thompson Communication Paper The primary focus of any organization is communication. Each and every organization has struggles with areas of opportunity and with plans on how to improve communication. Communication is a cornerstone that when properly used drastically increases effectiveness. Electronic medical records (EMR) are still somewhat new to the medical field. But in time this will increase the effectiveness and speed in which healthcare providers communicate with each other. There are a variety of communication modalities available to health care consumers and health care providers. These modalities and venues of communication may entail benefits and challenges to both consumers and providers. The one communication modality that sticks out the most and that is used in health care is the Electronic Medical Records (EMR). According to "Benefits of EHRs" (2013), “an electronic medical record (EMR) is a digital version of a paper chart that contains all of a patient’s medical history from one practice. An EMR is mostly used by providers for diagnosis and treatment. An electronic medical record contains the standard medical and clinical data gathered in one provider’s office. Electronic health records (EHRs) go beyond the data collected in the provider’s office and include a more comprehensive patient history.” One benefit to patients is that they will not have to rely on their memory to remember every...

Just as these particular demographics affect health care, patients with HIV/AIDS, Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome, does as well. There has been an impact in each community, and globally, from AIDS as it is an incurable disease. It is presumed that HIV was presented in the United States through one infected immigrant from Haiti. Since this was new to our society, many diagnosed and treated presented cases as a type of cancer. We are going to talk about the different options you have, such as whether you want a HMO, PPO, or a CDHP. There are many things you need to consider when looking at health plans. Some of these include your age, health, and whether you are single or have a family. We will discuss each of the options and which one may work the best for this situation. HMO Health maintenance organization or HMO, is a standard health care plan available through most health insurance companies. An individual with an HMO maintains their health by visiting their primary care physician on a regular basis for routine check-ups. Typically with an HMO, the individual will select their primary care physician within the preferred network. The individual will see their primary care physician for routine check-ups and preventive care. If the individual has a particular issue, they must go to their primary care physician first. If the primary care physician is unable to treat the patient, the patient will be referred to a specialist by their primary care physician. If the individual chooses to see a doctor outside their preferred network, the individual will be subjected to pay 100% of costs. Health maintenance organizations tend to be more cost effect for the insurance provider and less expensive for the patient. When choosing the...

While enhancing thermal characteristics, the solid–liquid mixtures present an unavoidable disadvantage in terms of pumping cost for economic operation of thermal-fluid systems. In addition, there is a lack of agreement between experimental data provided in the literature. The present work found that there would be no comprehensible design strategy in developing nanofluids. In this work, the Axiomatic Design (AD) theory is applied to systemize the design of nanofluids in order to bring its practical use forward. According to the Independence Axiom of the AD theory, the excessive couplings between the functional requirements and the parameters of a nanofluid system prevent from meeting the functional goals of the entire...

An Experimental Comparison of Er and Uml Class Diagrams for Data Modelling

...Empir Software Eng (2010) 15:455–492 DOI 10.1007/s10664-009-9127-7 An experimental comparison of ER and UML class diagrams for data modelling Andrea De Lucia · Carmine Gravino · Rocco Oliveto · Genoveffa Tortora Published online: 11 December 2009 © Springer Science+Business Media, LLC 2009 Editor: Erik Arisholm Abstract We present the results of three sets of controlled experiments aimed at analysing whether UML class diagrams are more comprehensible than ER diagrams during data models maintenance. In particular, we considered the support given by the two notations in the comprehension and interpretation of data models, comprehension of the change to perform to meet a change request, and detection of defects contained in a data model. The experiments involved university students with different levels of ability and experience. The results demonstrate that using UML class diagrams subjects achieved better comprehension levels. With regard to the support given by the two notations during maintenance activities the results demonstrate that the two notations give the same support, while in general UML class diagrams provide a better support with respect to ER diagrams during verification activities. Keywords Controlled experiments · Entity-relation diagrams · UML class diagrams · Design notations · Comprehension · Maintenance · Verification The work described in this paper is supported by the project METAMORPHOS (MEthods and Tools for migrAting software systeMs towards...
