Marketing

...There’s no metaphysics on earth like chocolates’. When the Portuguese bard, Fernando Pessoa, uttered these words, sometime during the early 20th century, the Cadburys and Nestles of the world hadn’t even seen the dawn of the day in India! But, of late, these two major choco giants have been making Pessoa’s words felt in India. So, where Pessoa’s claim was restricted only to poetry or prose at the most, Cadbury and Nestle have proved in practical that chocolates are the most inevitable indulgence of all times. In the realm of advertising, the business of chocolate marketing stands at a figure of Rs.145 crore. And with that kind of money, the space becomes all the more interesting to watch out for, more so for the marketers.  If we continue to let the numbers do the talking for sometime, we will get to know some dark chocolaty facts, like, Cadbury leads the Indian Chocolate market with a 70% share of the choco-pie, while Nestle occupies only 25% of the choco chunk. Interestingly, even with less than half of the former’s share, Nestle appears as the second leader in the entire arena and hence becomes the second pivotal player in the market. But that’s not the reason why they become this issue’s anointed marketers at war. In fact they have attained the status for being aggressive marketers of their respective chocolate variants for a consistently long duration without fail. An attack from one side has rarely gone unnoticed and not being retaliated with utmost valour from the counterpart...

The company was known as Cadbury Schweppes plc from 1969–2008 until its demerger, in which its global confectionery business was separated from its US beverage unit (now called "Dr Pepper Snapple Group").[4] It was also a constant constituent of the FTSE 100 from the index's 1984 inception until its 2010 Kraft Foods takeover.[5][6] History 1824–1900: Early history In 1824, John Cadbury began selling tea, coffee, and drinking chocolate, which he produced himself, at Bull Street in Birmingham, England. He later moved into the production of a variety of cocoa and drinking chocolates, made in a factory in Bridge Street and sold mainly to the wealthy because of the high cost of production. The Doctrine of Election

...ELECTION ______________________________ A Research Report Presented to Mr. Nathaniel J. Madden Mingo Valley Christian School ______________________________ In Partial Fulfillment for the Course Systematic Theology Junior Bible ______________________________ By Courtney Padgett Spring 2012   According to the Webster’s Dictionary, elect means “to select; to determine on a course of action; chosen; selected from a number” (Webster 122). The doctrine of election directly concerns salvation. Although many Christians many immediately associate the term “election” with the teachings of John Calvin, this doctrine began long before Calvin crafted Institutes of the Christian Religion. The topic of election is in Bible, and can be found in the Old and New Testaments. In the Old Testament, the book of Deuteronomy explains how Israel’s personal relationship with God began. For you are a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for His own possession out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth. “The LORD did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any of the peoples, for you were the fewest of all peoples, but because the LORD loved you and kept the oath which He swore to your forefathers, the LORD brought you out by a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt” (Deut. 7:6-8). This Hebrew...

Definition: Repo rate is the rate at which the central bank of a country (Reserve Bank of India in case of India) lends money to commercial banks in the event of any shortfall of funds. Repo rate is used by monetary authorities to control inflation. Description: In the event of inflation, central banks increase repo rate as this acts as a disincentive for banks to borrow from the central bank. This ultimately reduces the money supply in the economy and thus helps in arresting inflation. The central bank takes the contrary position in the event of a fall in inflationary pressures. Repo and reverse repo rates form a part of the liquidity adjustment facility. BANK RATE, also...

...Writing English for Speakers of Other Languages You have chosen to pursue a college education, which is admirable. College classes are rarely easy, and since your native language is not English, you have extra work to do— but you are more to be admired for the extra effort. Interestingly enough, although you have an additional hurdle of writing in English, your study of the language as an English as a Second Language (ESL) learner puts you ahead of most native speakers: (1) you do not automatically learn the bad habits and slang that native speakers assume are correct, (2) you acquire an understanding of the elements of grammar that native speakers rarely bother to learn, and (3) your perspective of communication and your thought processes are different from those of native English speakers, so your writing easily can be more interesting and fresh than that of native speakers, who too often rely on clichés and old, tired phrases. Officially denied (but known by experienced students) is that good, clear writing can cover a multitude of content weaknesses—in other words, even the most austere and reserved of teachers cannot avoid being affected ever-so-slightly toward the positive if the essay he or she is reading is well written and errorless—even if the premise of the essay is that Christopher Columbus discovered America in 1992 in the Pinta, the Niña, and the Andrea Doria.
