Based in Houston Drexler’s Bar-B-Que is part of that long beloved Texas tradition of slow smoked Bar-B-Que. Even with all vast chain restaurants there always seems to be a local favorite in every community and in Houston’s Third Ward that is Drexler’s. With its origins way back in the late 1940’s with the great-uncle of the current owners. While it has changed hands and name, more than once, it has still maintain its family origins and pride. They have maintained their values and connection with the community, while maintaining their status as an effective organization.
Values play a major role in the way Drexler’s Bar-B-Que interacts with the community. They are family business with a high level of faith which pervades the atmosphere of the business and that believes in treating. Mrs. Scott, the head of the family, goes around the restaurant checking on the customers, new and old. They also put a lot back out into the community, sponsoring softball teams and Boy Scout Troops, and other opportunities.
Even though they might be small, Drexler’s Bar-B-Que is an effective organization. They have been able not only to survive but thrive through the various economic times. If there is any question to this, it should be answer by not only the length of time that they been around. If the simple fact that they were able to put the business on hold for 6 months to not only return, but have it grow by double, isn’t enough to prove it. Then fact it is on its third generation, in the same place, through the same family.
Drexler’s Bar-B-Que works in an incredibly difficult market, the food service industry. Known for its fast turn around and with every challenging customers, most start up restaurants are lucky to make it past their second year. Drexler’s has found a way stay together for almost 30 years, since 1985, under the same name. This is has been done be several way.

Currently Drexler’s is located in the Third Ward of Houston and has been there since 2003. Drexler’s has remained a family operation over the years although it has gone through several different ownership changes. The current owners, James Drexler and his mother Eunice Scott have been the owners since 1982. The values of Drexler’s come from the Patriarch Eunice. Eunice works at the restaurant every day and thus a lot of her own personal values have become shared by the business. Eunice values a strong worth ethic, as indicated by her presence at the restaurant everyday. She also values treating people fairly and with respect. These values permeate not only to the staff but also to the customers. Eunice is always seen walking through the restaurant asking the customers how they are doing and checking to see if there is anything she can do to give them a better experience at Drexler’s.
