I. Overview of Organization and My Role in it
The Emirates Airlines is the organization that will be the topic of discussion in my final project. “Emirates Airlines is the Emirates Group’s rapidly expanding and award winning international Airline. Emirates started in Dubai and flew out with only two aircrafts in 1985 on 25th October which involved just a leased Boeing 737 and an airbus 300 B4. Today the Airline has orders worth over US$ 68 billion for 200 more of the latest aircraft, with plans to operate in many more destinations in the months and years ahead. Emirates global network now sees it flying to over 110 destinations across 6 continents, operating a modern fleet of over 150 wide-bodied aircraft. Emirates airlines accounts to about 40% of the total movements of flights and aiming for at least 70% total flights coming in and going out of Dubai International Airport.” (http://www.emirates247.com/look-back-2010-onto-2011/the-most-popular-stories-of-2010)
I am an accountant for Emirates Airlines and in charge of creating a project aiming to increase the company’s market share and gain more profit without sacrificing the company’s quality of services and reputation. I just recently began my employment in the company and now facing the big challenge of creating this project and attaining the goal of making it huge in international market and increasing our sales without compromising our excellent customer service. To be able to achieve this goal, I definitely need to focus in training and development of the company’s employees, both current and newly hired ones. I am optimistic about this project and I will do my best to make it work. However, I feel that accounting department alone cannot achieve this goal thus I certainly need to coordinate with Human Resource Department to be successful in this project.
II. Narrative description of the organizational problem that I would like to research and resolve
While maintaining a profitable business is one of our company’s goals yet we need not to sacrifice the quality service that we vowed to our clients. We are set to have “An award winning international cargo division, a full-pledged destination management and leisure division, an international ground handler and an international airline flying and catering to the luxurious convenience of our patrons through the best effort and service of our flight and ground crew. For excellence and for outstanding services Emirates has received more than 400 awards all over the globe” (http://www.emirates247.com /look-back-2010-onto-2the-most-popular-stories-of-2010)and the biggest challenge for me is to combine the goal of giving excellence service and setting our sales and standard as high as possible. Beyond having great profitable projects, I need to maintain and have a more efficient, productive and friendly cabin crew with the idea of enhancing our training and orientation process for our employees. I do believe that Emirates Airlines has a lot of great people with great ideas and that we have a full potential of getting it to number one when it comes to our sales and our customer services. Reason for me to stay focused and challenged by this given project. I feel that Emirate Airlines has the opportunity to be a greater company where employees are recognized and appreciated, where productivity and sales increases while improving the quality of our customer services. I feel that Emirates Airlines needs to further improve its Human Resource Management to be able to achieve a higher quality of service and gaining more profit as well. The difficult part is that the top-level managers have decided to go on budget and stop giving leeway to the Human Resource Management and just focus on cost-cutting rather than improving the process of employees training and orientation. I feel that the most essential concept to our continued business success as we expand is the ongoing employment of high quality people to join our multi-cultural team of over 150 nationalities is by giving our employees the best training and orientation they need to be able to perform a quality service. In order to compete in the unexpected global economy, Human Resource Department (HRD) of Arab Emirate Airline has plans to hire a great number of high quality staff. However, lack of the company performance in the worldwide market is the disadvantages for Arab Emirate Airline. This report gathers information and analyze the areas Arab Emirates Airline can improve their staff performance. The current situation of Arab Emirates Airline has proven a success to many other competitors. However, there is still room for improvement to expand into further destinations across the world. Thus, this is an opportunity for me to do some research and resolve this issue by crafting a sophisticated design of Human Resource Management to train and orient our employees to attain a greater profit without compromising our quality customer service.
III. Preliminary Problem Statement Emirates main goal ever since they started doing business was of attaining quality and not quantity. Emirates airlines strives to provide best services to their consumers and expand their business by doing so, to achieve goals and objectives in order to be successful. Yet, considering the worldwide economic downfall, any organizations would definitely be concerned about their sales and market shares as well to be able to operate accordingly and maintain business in their corresponding fields. I feel that Emirates Airlines has the creativity and personnel to achieve this goal. I can see that enhancing Emirates Human Resource Department to manage the corresponding changes in employees orientation and training would definitely change and elevate the company’s quality of service as well as it’s quantity of flights. Otherwise I am worried that we can achieve the quantity side of our goal but jeopardizing the quality part of it. Therefore, I would like to make my paper be about Emirates Airlines creating High Performance Organizations (HPO) especially focusing in intense employees’ orientation and training to further achieve success and quality service.
IV: Terminal Course Objective (TCO) Accordingly from our Terminal Course Objective (TCO) J- Given an understanding of the basic components of organizational structure and design, illustrate how an organization's structure supports its organizational goals. I will research what is needed to turn Emirates Airlines into a more High Performance Organization (HPO) focusing in the orientation and training of staff and its newly hired employees and look at examples of other companies who have made the transformations. Through my research and writing, my goal is to craft and create an outline for a more effective and efficient Human Resource Management leading the company to achieve its goal of being the number one International Airlines in terms of sales and quality services, so it will be admired by other airlines and be recognized as the most successful airlines globally.
