Rainier Health and Fitness
Rainier Health and Fitness, a non-profit community gym, is a subprogram of Urban Impact. Urban Impact is a Seattle faith-based non-profit with the mission of, ‘Partnering with families and communities to break the cycle of social, material, and spiritual poverty.” As such, Urban Impact facilitates the organization of several smaller outreach programs, one of which is Rainier Health and Fitness (RHF). Located in the Rainier Valley, RHF helps to meet a community need for a fitness center focused on building “a model of the healthiest neighborhood, a place where reconciliation is facilitated as barriers between people are diminished through exercise”. Additionally, RHF relies on volunteers to help with processes and operational tasks. To maintain a clear access control system, the different levels of employees are assigned certain system rights. ABC Financial provides RHF with a tool called Report Security. This tool allows for the segregation of employee access based on hiring status. Employees who are full-time have the highest level of access. This means that they are able to see and edit members personal and financial information. The contractors and volunteers have read only access. Furthermore, these employees only have access to the rights for checking members in and out. These standards, “ensure that ALL companies accept, process, store or transmit credit card information maintain a secure environment” (PCI Compliance FAQ). To meet the security requirement details certain sensitive financial information, such as the credit card number or social security number, is masked. If an update to the payment information is requested, then the member must be present and swipe their own credit card. The responsible PCI compliance audits are for the most part transferred to ABC Financial. RHF pays an additional fee for this PCI security protection. Annually ABC Financial undergoes a PCI compliance audit completed by Security Metrics. Currently, they are up to date with their Level 1 PCI Validation details for PCI DSS and is valid through June 30, 2017. However, RHF is responsible for reporting compliance with the PCI DSS as well. ABC Financial works in partnership with their clients to help complete the needed security tool
