...Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance Holly Regan HSM/260 April 30, 2014 Greg O'Donnell Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance According to the University of Phoenix, the non-profit XYZ Corporation is incorporated as a 501(c)3 in the state of Texas. The organization’s mission is to provide psychiatric counseling services for residents of El Paso County. XYZ receives funding from the state government on an annual basis to provide services to those deemed to be medically indigent—that is, those residents who have an income less than 150% of the poverty level, based on federal poverty guidelines. Patients are required to pay a fee, which can be as low as $20.00 per visit, based on their income. XYZ employs a staff of four licensed professionals. As a result of the demand for the service and a clear need in the area, XYZ received additional funding in late 2003 to open a satellite office, (University of Phoenix, 2014, Week 7 Supplement). While searching for needed federal assistance programs, the director honed in on three plans specific to its growing target population which are AARA Grants to Health Center. ...plan is through strategic scenario planning and develops the actions to be employ only upon the occurrence of anticipated future events. A contingency plan will protect the chemical dependency program from unforeseen threats or events that could interrupt the success of the program. This requires the source of revenue to be readily available to the chemical dependency counseling program in prison. Public-Private Partners However, for any financial contingency plan to be successful there needs to be sources of revenue available. One source of revenue is the public-private partner. There are many forms of the public-private partner that can be put to use by the program. The Operations and Management model involves a public partner (federal, state, or local government agency or authority) who contracts with a private partner to provide or maintain a specific service (North, 2011). Through O&M, the public partner retains control over the chemical dependency program and retains management control. The next type of public-private partnership is the Operations, Maintenance, and Management. In this public-private partnership the public partner will retain ownership of the public program but the private party may also invest capital into the program. The private investor will receive a return on his or her money based on his or her investment and the resources of the program. The longer the contract terms, the greater potential for the private...

The truly evil such as Charles Manson, Richard Speck, Jeffery Dahmer, and John Wayne Gacy are the epitome of the word evil. To allow society to express disapproval and society has spoken to these individuals and stated in no uncertain terms what their punishment was. Most prisoners worldwide have come from disadvantaged backgrounds which include; poverty, unemployment, lack of housing, broken families, mental illness, drug and alcohol abuse and domestic violence (Judges Prefer Public Shaming to Prison, 2013). These facts are not meant to be mitigating circumstances for the crime the inmate committed. Each of these facets of life can be overcome when a person asks for help or assistance. Prisons are full of people who have lived under the same conditions. Prison overcrowding has become a serious condition in prisons. There are not enough cells in prisons for all of the convicted criminals. This has led to early releases for offenders who are not ready to return to society and their community. Also some have been released that never should have been released. Overcrowding has and does have a high risk to both inmates and officers. ... Team Research Paper Fundraising for a nonprofit organization in a weak economy is very uncertain; not many individuals or businesses have the financial means to lend money. Thus, it is imperative to use all approaches to fundraising. Fundraising for a nonprofit organization typically involves applying for loans, grants, and using other forms of government and public assistance. When implementing non-traditional approaches to fundraising, it is important to use every possible means of government assistance, community support, and family contribution methods because there are limited the country’s economic status. Raising money based on contributions, sponsorships, personal investments, seeking family support, applying for a loan, and obtaining government grants are all effective ways of fundraising for a nonprofit organization. Another way of fundraising for a nonprofit organization is to use creative ways of providing a service to the community. ...Running head: RESEARCH CRITIQUE Research Critique of “Physical Education Teaching Methods” Jerome T. Gardner Columbia Southern University March 2011 Research Critique of “Physical Education Teaching Methods” Introduction The introduction of this article does give you a sense of importance of the problem in physical education. The area being talked about in this article is An instructional model is a "plan or pattern that can be used to shape curriculums (long-term courses of studies), to design instructional materials, and to guide instruction in the classroom or other settings" (Joyce & Weil, 1980, p. 1). The authors then go on about to say improvement in physical education to be an educational outcome and do not see the need to include additional outcomes. The absolute priority clearly requires applicants to propose projects that address physical education. More specifically, the absolute priority requires every applicant to develop, expand, or improve its physical education program and address its State's physical education standards. Statement of the problem The purpose of this study “is to analyze and evaluate and give insightful, critical, and logical to the points the authors made”. While the authors do list a purpose for the study they do not have a well-defined problem statement. They do say that a message from the school district, but they do not say how it would be beneficial. Review of Literature The literature review that was done by the authors...

...Proposal Charity Tessitore HSM/270 May 28, 2016 Ruth Hendrick Introduction Funding can be a cause of concern for any organization or program, whether for-profit or not-for-profit. Non-profit organizations and programs rely heavily on the financing from grants. According to "Grants 101” (n.d), “a grant is a way the government funds your ideas and projects to provide public services and stimulate the economy. Grants support critical recovery initiatives, innovative research, and many other programs listed in the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA).” This paper is going to go through the process of writing a grant proposal, using a new program called “Encouraging Families” as an example. Encouraging Families is a new program that is part of the PEACE Domestic Violence Agency. New Program Idea PEACE Domestic Violence Agency’s mission “is to reduce victim trauma, empower survivors, and promote recovery through direct services.” PEACE encourages domestic violence victims to get help and move on. They also help young adults get the education needed to stop the cycle of abuse. PEACE even provides a rehabilitation program for young adults. What it does not do is help those families get the job skills they need. Sometimes families want to be reunited, but have a member in jail and do not know how to go about reuniting. Encouraging Families is a new program that will work with the families, including the member that is incarcerated. The primary focus of Encouraging Families...

...How to Fund a Non-Profit Community Book Festival Glennie Hillebrandt, Aaron Hutchison, Star Prerez COMM/215 April 13, 2015 Gary Tandy How to Fund a Non-Profit Community Book Festival We are looking to fund our Non-Profit Community Book Festival, The San Diego Community Book Festival. We have filed our paperwork and incorporated the name, and registered as a non-profit. We have applied for the non-profit federal and state exemptions, created our corporate bylaws and appointed our initial directors. Our first board meeting was held and all necessary licenses and permits have been obtained. With the completion of these, we need to take the next step and the most crucial one which is fundraising. When it comes to fund raising, individual donors contribute the largest amount. There is also available funding through grants offered by federal, state and local government. (cite source SBA) The catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance (CFDA) provides a database of all federal programs available to state and local government (cite sources gsa.gov). Upon trying to find funders you need to look to many different resources and not focus on just one. Treating a funder like you would any type of business prospect is key, keep things professional. (Foundation center) The foundation center is not a resource to supply funds, but there to help you in research providing information on how to receive grants and other resources to fund your non-profit. When trying to get funding make sure...
