S eptember 3, 2014, Wednesday, was one of the days we 4th year students were waiting for: Scoliosis Screening!! This yearly event was held at Gen. M. Hizon Elementary School, and we were to assessed grade 5 students, whether if they have scoliosis or not. This event offers us an opportunity to enhance our skills as we apply the lessons we’ve learned in our previous subjects and also, it gives us an opportunity to be outside the school, our comfort zone, learning outside of it and helping those in need. We were nervous because what if we were giving them the wrong information. However, as time draw near, we pushed through our doubts and we’re confident that we will be doing and saying the right things and do our very best. We entered the room we were assigned to with readiness and confidence. We introduced ourselves, discussed scoliosis, assessed if they had one, taught them simple exercise, gave food as we closed the discussion and played a Q&A where the winner gets a prize.

As planned, the discussion was simple, fast and light, the assessment was not time consuming and not creepy (because we were an all-boy group). We were very happy that we managed to finish the task given to us. It was such a blessing to see those happy faces of the kids saying, “Thank you,
