What Is a Network?
How would you define a network? What is bandwidth? What is a NIC? List three types of media used for network connections.

A network is linking two or more computing devices together for the purpose of sharing data. This can happen at a layer 2 network or a layer 3 with a router. Examples of network connections are networking via Network Interface Card or NIC, over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Describe a situation in which you needed to access a network and had difficulty. What steps did you take to access the network? If you have not run across this, give an explanation of a network you used and some benefits of using the network.

I have come across networking issues many times throughout my IT career. One example would be when you setup your home network and expect your computer to see each other but they won’t connect. I corrected this issue by joining my computers to the same domain or workgroup. This is common problem and many individuals don’t know where to start. Due to this some people settle for inferior setup not realizing the full potential of their home network.

How will networking impact you in your professional life?

I have set my goal to being right in the middle of connectivity, knowing what makes the internet tick. My background is in switching and routing and I aim to become a Networking Expert working at Data Centers for the internet. To me, while everything and everyone is “online” and connected gives me job security and aim to keep it like that for as long as it is in my power. I will keep learning more and more and use my knowledge to keep everything up and running and everyone connected.
