I am currently taking the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program in order to help condition myself to a health care setting. Throughout the course of my life, I have begun to develop both a passion and admiration for health care related careers. By using advanced technology and having a proper understanding of human anatomy, health care workers have drastically impacted the lives of various injured and ill individuals. However, I find physical therapy to be the most fascinating of all health care careers. Most intriguing is a physical therapists' knowledge of mobility restoration. While I am indeed interested in working as a physical therapist, college education requirements for this position are becoming stricter. In order to pursue a position in this career, one must obtain a bachelor's degree, complete a pre-physical therapy course, receive a Doctor of physical therapy, and pass the National Physical Therapy Exam (NPTE). Despite the various procedures one must go through, it is very uplifting to know that one is able to receive a bachelor's degree in any major, regardless if it pertains to science. Even though this long process may be overwhelming for some, I still look forward to pursuing this career. What I am most excited about …show more content…

A national survey also found that three out of four physical therapists were satisfied with their profession. These benefits make it easy for one to already begin creating personal career goals, but before I create any work-related goals, I must first enter a job within the pathway I have chosen. Upon receiving acceptance into a workplace, I hope to achieve my goal of frequently maintain a positive attitude while tending to any patient's

I am a Certified Nursing Assistant at DePaul Wexford Assisting living home in Denver, North Carolina. I chose Wednesday, September 21st to observe. By my observations you will see what exactly takes place during my daily routine as a Certified Nursing Assistant. On Wednesday, September 21st, I was scheduled to work second shift 3 pm to 11pm. Effective Communication

...includes learning to communicate effectively. Effective communication means that we actively listen to others and observe their body language. Their emotions and attitudes may not be heard in their tone of voice. Sometimes, individuals say more through their actions and facial expressions than in spoken words. This is especially true in health care. (2011) Patients sometimes believe that health care providers see them as a number or chart and not as a person. Providers ask closed ended questions to save time. Some patients perceive this as a lack of caring and will not disclose pertinent information. Patients may be misdiagnosed and not receive the correct care. (2011) Communication in a skilled nursing facility is comparable to other in-patient facilities and out-patient facilities. Patients should always be treated with respect and caring. Effective listening skills can be beneficial in the treatment of patients and when communicating with other staff members. At Union City Care Center, the most effective form of communication is face-to-face or one-on-one communication. Eye contact is an important component of active communication. Managers can look at coworkers, employees, patients, and family members in the eyes and create a sense of trust. Direct eye contact is way to make sure that individuals understand the line of communication and how they feel about...
