I) Course and Curriculum
The academic session of IMT Ghaziabad for the batch of 2015 is divided into 7 terms. Term 1 to 3 are common for everyone. Students have to study the same subjects and work on projects. Term 4 is only for the students who choose not to go on the foreign exchange program. For those who go to international universities, attend a term there, and their respective grade is adjusted as per certain algorithms so that the entire school is graded uniformly. Term 5 is only for those students who are not on LSIP (Long Summer Internship Programme). LSIP is company specific and entirely depends on the projects and requirements of the companies that come for summer placements drive to the campus. LSIP in totality may be for five or six months. The students who are on SIP (not LSIP) attend the fifth term in college which includes 7 electives and 2 core subjects. The details for the subjects will be shared following the introduction. Term 6 is for everybody. Again, 7 electives and 2 core subjects are to be taken up. Term 7 is for the students who were on LSIP. They study the two core subjects from Term 5 (that they had missed). Term 7 is also for those students who had selected certain electives (Out of the total 14 electives). The reasons may be either pre-defined or ad-hoc (faculty availability, batch strength for that elective etc.) Term 2 is the term during which the Summer Internship Placement Drive takes place. Similarly, Term 6 is the term during which the Final Placement Drives takes place. Both these drives are rolling processes that may carry on till subsequent terms, till the batch is placed. The first term consists of 7 subjects, each of 3 credits (but for BCPD). The second and third term consist of 6 subjects, again, each of 3 credits. Term 4 Business Research Methods Supply Chain Management Strategic Management
Emerging Technologies and New Opportunities The fourth terms consists of four subjects, each for three credits. Apart from these, there are also credits for Workshops and Simulation events. Students then select their electives for the next year (Term 5, 6 and 7) in the fourth term by an online application that is accessible in the college computer labs. People on Exchange Programs and DCP choose their respective electives via e-mail. The electives for Term 5 and 6 are as below:
The first text column is for the Track: Sales, Marketing and Business Development (Marketing) The second text column is for the Track: Finance & Banking (Finance) The third text column is for the Track: People & Processes (HR) The fourth text column is for the Track: Solutions & Consulting (IT) The fifth text column is for the Track: Strategic Management A student has to select 7 electives for each term (5 and 6). Out of these, 4 must be from only one track – that becomes the specialization track for the student. The rest 3 can be all from the same or different track(s). Again, for the 7 electives in the next term (Term 6), the 4 must be from the
specialization track of the student, whereas the other 3 may or may not be from the same track (but the specialization track). To understand this, consider the example: Let the specialization track for the student be denoted by A. The subjects under this track will become A1, A2, and so on. Let other tracks be B, C, D, and E. Now, for Term 5: The student has to choose A1, A2, A3, and A4 – as the four electives (of the specialization). The other three electives could be either B1, B2, B3 or B1, C1, D1 or B1, B2, C1 and likewise. For Term 6: The student has to choose A5, A6, A7, and A8 as the four electives (of the specialization). The other three electives could be either B4, B5, B6 or B4, C4, D4 or B4, B5, C4 and likewise. If a student has a combination of (A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, B1, B2, B3, B4, B5 and B6) as their electives and a company comes offering students for a profile that it opens for only B, then the student won’t be eligible for that company.
II. Selection and Waitlists
1) Have all calls been given out? Answer: - All the emails for selected candidates for IMT Ghaziabad, Nagpur, and Hyderabad have been sent out by now. 2) I have not received a call. Do I stand any chance? Answer: - A waitlist is up on the IMT website, with a number given to you. If you are on the waitlist, your chance depends upon the number you have been allotted. 3) I have been offered more than one campus/course. Do I have to choose one between them? How do I let IMT know of my choice? Answer: Those of you who have been offered more than one course, you are free to choose between them. Specify which one you are paying for when you send in your fee Demand Draft, as mentioned in your call email. Preferably, mention the chosen course on the back of your Demand Draft with your Name and IMT Application ID. 4) I have been offered a certain course/campus. Can I switch/upgrade to some other course/campus? Answer: - IMT Ghaziabad PGDM-DCP: - Switching/upgrading to another course in any campus is NOT POSSIBLE. - IMT Ghaziabad PGDM-Finance/Marketing/FT: - Switching/upgrading between any of these 3 courses is theoretically possible, but your preference will be considered only after the entire waitlist has been exhausted. So from our experience chances are MINIMAL. - IMT Dubai/Nagpur/Hyderabad: - Switching/upgrading between campuses is NOT POSSIBLE. 8) What parameters are considered for giving final offers? Answer: CAT/XAT/GMAT/CMAT scores are only considered for GD-PI selection. For the Final Offers, every GD-PI candidate has been evaluated based on her/his: - GD-PI Performance - Academic & Non-academic Profile - Application form details 9) When will the waitlist move? Answer: After the due date of the second installment of the Admission Fees on 7th May 2014, there will be Waitlist movement within a few days time. This movement will be based on withdrawal of candidature or non-payment of Admission Fees within the due date. As per such movement, further provisional offers will be made to waitlisted candidates through emails. 10) Clarification on course preferences: Preference of courses is an added advantage given to candidates. It is not binding and mandatory on the Institute. The Institute reserves the right to allot courses to candidates based on its evaluation of each candidate.
III. College Infrastructure
A) Hostels
1) How many hostels are there and how are the students allocated to them? Answer: There are around 10-11 residential blocks (hostel buildings) inside the IMT campus. Since it is a residential program, you are required to stay in hostels. Facilities: -Twin sharing and Single occupancy rooms (Only for some 2nd year students) -Common Washrooms -Coolers can be fitted in rooms -TV in the mess -Hot water in winters -Power Backup -Water Coolers -Laundry service -Guards outside women’s hostels Student Affairs and Welfare Council (SAWC) takes care of allocating rooms to the students. 2) How far is CDL from the main campus and how do CDL students commute? Answer: CDL or Centre for Distance Learning is another campus which is about 2.5 kms from the main campus. Since the past 2 years, 1st year boys have been allocated CDL hostels and we expect the same trend this year too. Facilities: -Twin sharing rooms -Common Washrooms -Air Conditioners -Hot water in winters -Laundry service -Water Coolers -Power Backup 3) Are there ACs in all the hostels, if not on what basis do students get AC rooms? Answer: No, ACs are only in CDL campus and mostly 1st year boys will be staying there. 4) Do we have to pay anything extra apart from the hostel and mess fee which is included in the total fee? Answer: No everything is included in the fees. 5) Since CDL is not in the main campus, what other facilities does CDL have? Answer: Mess, Canteen, Football ground, Gym, TT tables, Basketball court, Lawn tennis court, ample parking space, Badminton court. 6) Is there any convenience store in the campus for the students? Answer: There is one convenience store run by the students in the campus. The store remains open from 1:15pm to 2pm and 8pm to 11pm. However, the timing may change according to the class timing of the students who manage the store.
7) How frequently are the rooms and toilets cleaned? Answer: Rest assured that toilets will be really clean and the cleaning staff responds to complaints also. Rooms are cleaned once in a week. Besides, the cleaning staff remains available every day on campus for any help required. (You can clean your room daily if you want, if you get time!) 8) What all things needed for staying in hostel can be bought in the campus if I just bring my clothes? Answer: For your convenience, there’ll be different vendors on campus during the initial days. Mattress, Buckets, Pillows, Bed sheets, Pillow covers, Dustbins, Used Clothes Bag, etc. can be bought on campus. Apart from that, there are many markets near college. So, you can avoid carrying these things from home. 9) Are boys and girls allowed in each other’s hostels? Answer: Girls are allowed in boys’ hostel but not vice versa. 10) Can we bring our friends to the hostels who are not IMTians? Answer: Strictly No, your Identity cards are checked every time you enter the campus.
B) Mess
1) What are the mess timings? Answer: It’ll depend on the timings of your classes. For example for us it was: Breakfast: 8:30am – 9:30am Lunch: 12:45pm – 2:15pm Evening snacks: 5:30pm – 6pm Dinner: 8:30pm – 9:30pm 2) Are there separate veg and non-veg counters? Answer: Yes. 3) How often is non-veg food served in the mess? Answer: Usually, non-veg food is served twice a week and the frequency may increase on special occasions. 4) Are the students allowed to take the meals to their hostel rooms? Answer: Yes. If required, the students can take the plate to their rooms for themselves or somebody else can collect it for them. 5) What if we don’t like the food or hunger knocks at midnight? Answer: There’s an amazing canteen which is open from 9am till 5am and serves delicious food at reasonable prices. Also, the students can access the service of Nescafe that remains open even in the late hours.
C) Clubs and Committees
1) Are any extracurricular activities for the students encouraged in the campus? Answer: IMT Ghaziabad takes pride in the much appreciated student activities. There are many
opportunities for the students to get involved in the activities of the clubs and committees and explore their potential. D) Miscellaneous
1) What are some nearby facilities? - Raj Nagar District Centre (RDC Ghaziabad) RDC is just 1.5 kms away from the main campus and fulfils all your recreational needs. From plethora of eating joints like Subway, Dominos, Pizza hut and other restaurants to a few good cafes and bars. It also has a newly opened mall which has a multiplex, a supermarket and a few good brands. - Both SBI and OBC ATMs at a walking distance. - Apart from RDC, there are sector 10 and Kavinagar markets, again at 1-1.5 kms distance from the main campus. 2) What are the entry timings for the campus/hostels? Answer: Girls cannot leave the campus after 10:00 pm and if anyone enters the campus after 10 pm, an entry is to be made in the guard’s entry book. 3) What other facilities does main campus have? - Needz (A convenience store run by members of ‘Make a difference foundation’) - Canteen - Library - Gym - Football and Cricket Ground - Basketball and Badminton Court - Amphitheatre (The Heart of IMT Ghaziabad!) 4) Can we order food from outside? Answer: Yes, you can. 5) Where is the nearest metro station and how far it is from the main campus? Answer: The nearest metro station is Vaishali and the students can avail themselves of auto rickshaw facility available at the campus gate to reach there. Vaishali is about 25-30 minutes from campus. 6) Is there any facility for emergency medical service in the campus? Answer: Yes. For the emergency medical needs of the students, they can consult the doctor and avail themselves of basic first aid in the campus itself. 7) Are we allowed to keep our personal vehicles on campus? Answer: Yes.
