The advantages of using nitrogen is that is a cheaper alternative as with argon gas you must have a continuous supply of gas which can become expensive in the long run, where as nitrogen is much cheaper as it can be used at normal atmosphere pressure it and will take a sample from a conventional nebuliser, another reason why nitrogen is desirable is due to it being non flammable and cheaper along with the fact that it produces simpler to read spectrums than argon gas
