...looking for and want a logical approach to ensuring success should be implemented. The Kano model does just that, it takes this idea of approaching customer satisfaction with measurable success and breaks it up into three product requirements/features that can then be incorporated into a product and help esure that the customers will be satisfied or overly enthusiastic about their purchase and the product. The three features are as follows: 1) MUST HAVE FEATURES: These features are the products nuts and bolts that the consumer simply expects the product to have. For example, if a buyer was looking at a car they would not be dazzled by the salesman telling them that there is oil in the engine and it comes with a free steering wheels and tires. Those items are simply expected to be there. 2) PERFORMANCE OR ONE DIMENSIONAL FEATURES: These features are the measurable features that can be articulated and technically identified to the customer so that they know the performance or quality...

...September 28, 2014 The transportation system is designed to move cargo between points of embarkation to debarkation and serves the customer (requestor) and the carrier (shipper). Within the transportation system, different entities are working together to ensure a smooth reliable process is in place to benefit the customer and the company. As with any business, there are expenses related to the daily operation and with a company that operates modes of transportation, fuel is probably their biggest expense. As a transportation analyst for Peregrine Trucking Company, I will identify five areas in which the company can cut fuel costs. These five areas include optimal use of the trucks, ensuring the right equipment is being used like tires and engines, consideration of fleet commonality, the use of a third part logistics (3PL) and employee retention. Additionally, introducing new processes, equipment and calculating the cost savings will enable management to make proper fuel savings decisions for the company using all available resources we have. Looking at the costs associated within the transportation system, there are two that are calculated as expenses-- variable costs and fixed costs. Though both cost structures reflect a distinct portion of the business expense, variable costs (such as fuel, wages, maintenance and highway user fees) account for 70 to 90% of the operating budget (Coyle, J., Novack, R.A., Gibson, B.J., & Barbi, E.J., Page 179 (2011). With such...

...Personal Reflection Paper The choices you make on a daily basis which could affect your way of living is critical thinking. When making a decision that could have a positive or negative affect on you is critical thinking. To me critical thinking is being used every day by us and may not even notice it or pay attention to it. When you at work that is probably where it is used most when you are dealing with different personalities and races so you have to think about how you act and talk. The three most significant things that I learned in this course is one how often we use critical thinking on a daily basis. The second thing this class taught me is the different stages of thinking which I figured out I was practicing thinker which I learned that was I went over the problems instead of jumping right into the problem. The final thing I learned was about fallacies which is something is not as it seems for example, if a commercial says they have tires for $40 and when you get there they say they are sold out already that is just a scheme to get you into the store. My critical thinking has changed tremendously since I have started this class. When I am work I am more conscience of my actions and words. This class also help me with raising my children by thinking before I react. Usually I just overreact before thinking about how my actions could have a negative affect on them. The reason I placed myself in the stage of practicing thinking was I want to be precise in making...

...your bike and its tyres in such weather. Tyres have grooves in their tread and their purpose is to remove water from under the contact patch. Obviously, if the tyre is worn smooth with no grooves left, water on the road stays trapped under the tyre and it slips. Tyres in good condition with sticky rubber inflated to the recommended pressure go a long way in improving the grip. Apart from good tyres, the trick to maintaining traction when riding is smoothness. All transitions i.e. acceleration, braking, gear shifting and turning should be accomplished smoothly. Be gentle in braking and acceleration and follow the widest possible arcs during cornering. Remember road grip is already fighting a losing battle with slippery conditions. Your tire traction is cut by as much as TWO-THIRDS on wet roads. Don't make it worse for the tyres by demanding too much from them and in too short a time. Retaining your traction in the wet is far easier than regaining it. a slide that can be corrected in the dry will almost certainly take you down in the wet. Brake gently, using more of the rear brake than the front (just the opposite of what you would do in the dry). Keep checking your brakes for effectiveness when riding in heavy rain or through deep water. Drum brakes, though difficult to get wet from inside, take time in drying and become effective again. If wet, ride a while with the brake applied partially. The heat generated due to friction...

...Phenomenological Reflection Paper Phenomenology of Happiness What can make one person happy might not have the same effect on another. With this, it is difficult to find the perfect recipe for happiness. However what is true is that happiness is the one thing that people do not tire of. We continue searching for happiness even if we know that we will eventually tire of what provides it, and we will have to search all over again. For thousands of years, human behaviour has largely been about and driven by the pursuit of happiness. Even if we have not yet understood its complete nature up to now, we still continuously look for it. This unending pursuit is an evidence of how important happiness is to us. Happiness is a positive feeling and it is quite contagious. On the surface, it can be defined by a heartfelt laugh, a smiling face, or even a touching tear. Often times when we hear laughter, we associate it with happiness Whether you know the person who is laughing or not, you know that person’s laughter is a very strong indication of his or her happiness. This is also true when we see a smile, or when we witness tears of joy. It is often hard not to be at least quite affected by the happiness of another person. A person who is dear to you may express his happiness through stories that he will tell you and you in turn will be glad for him, and possibly for few moments, you may even forget your own worries and just join him in this feeling of elation. An old couple sitting...

...On the other hand, she also plays Ping, the fearless young soldier who was loved by all, who grew from strength to strength and pretty much singlehandedly saved China from the invasion of the Huns. In order for Mulan to save her father from conscription she must give up her female self to pose as a man and join the army. This however, as far as Mulan is concerned, isn’t such a huge loss as she feels she really doesn’t fit in as a traditional Chinese woman. In the opening song she lists all that she is expected to be as a woman, as the perfect Chinese woman – quiet, demure, graceful, dainty... it is immediately clear that Mulan is none of these things. She sees the traditional makeup as a betrayal of who she really is – “when will my reflection show, who I am inside”. Her true self seems more a quick thinking, brave and fearless Samurai Warrior – but as a woman she cannot be this. We could describe Mulan as a protofeminist as she completely refuses to...

...recent years. Most of us have become so enamored of "leadership" that "management" has been pushed into the background. Nobody aspires to being a good manager anymore; everybody wants to be a great leader. But the separation of management from leadership is dangerous. Just as management without leadership encourages an uninspired style, which deadens activities, leadership without management encourages a disconnected style, which promotes hubris. And we all know the destructive HARVARD BUSINESS REVIEW 54 power of hubris in organizations. So let's get back to plain old management. The problem, of course, is that plain old management is complicated and confusing. Be global, managers are told, and be local. Collaborate, and compete. Change, perpetually, and maintain order. Make the numbers while nurturing your people. How is anyone supposed to reconcile all this? The fact is, no one can. To be effective, managers need to face the juxtapositions in order to arrive at a deep integration of these seemingly contradictory concerns. That means they must focus not only on what they have to accomplish but also on how they have to think. Managers need various "mind-sets." Helping managers appreciate that was the challenge we set for ourselves in the...

...automotive sector’s foundations date back to the 1950s. Over recent decades, it has grown substantially, due to two main factors: the large size of the domestic market where individuals were gaining increasing purchasing power as the economy developed; and the enormous expansion of international trade especially following the Customs Union Agreement signed with the EU in 1996. These fundamental factors also drive the long-term growth expectations. In recent years, the automotive sector has become our country’s leading exporter, with total exports of USD 16.9 billion in 2009, which constituted 17.4 percent of Turkey’s total export revenues.1 Exports were USD 8.7 billion in the first six months of 2010. In 2010, demand patterns are likely to change for the Turkish automotive sector. Considering the first half of 2010, the total production reached 547,022 vehicles, a jump of 39 percent compared with the same period of 2009. Also exports and imports increased by 4.5 percent and 43.8 percent respectively.2 As the effects of the global financial crisis recede, it is expected that the Turkish automotive sector will reach average annual growth rates of 4.5-5 percent per year in 2011 and follow this trend through till 2013. There are 22 automotive manufacturers in Turkey. The total capacity of the OSD members (15 manufacturers including two tractor manufacturers) amounted to 1,561,155 vehicles in 2010.18 The capacity seemed to stay stable for the first six months of 2010 and the capacity...

...Fall - A Time Transition The fall season has many meanings for me. It is a time of transition that takes us from warm balmy days to the more harsh weather of winter. It's a time that takes us from the spectacle of nature in full bloom, to nature in hibernation. The signs of this transition are everywhere. The vivid colors of summer fade away, the color of the sky changes from deep blue to gray. The green fades from the grass and plants lose their blossoms. The leaves on the trees turn color, and lose their grip. Insects disappear. It's the tune of year that signifies the end of summer and vacations. No more picnics, swimming, baseball, tennis, and a myriad of other activities that most of us enjoy in the outdoors. It signals that during the next few months we will have to endure weather conditions that are not conducive to spending quality time outdoors enjoying nature. The knowledge of this seasonal period of transition awakens, in me, a more keen awareness of my surroundings than at any other time of year. The deeper appreciation comes from knowing that the good weather days are coming to an end. The fall season conjures up all sorts of analogies in my mind. For example, football and basketball games are divided into four quarters, a dollar is divided by four quarters, the calendar year is divided into four quarters, and the human life span might also be divided into four 20 year parts, assuming that we live an average of 80 years. In all these examples, the third period precedes...
