In upper North America, the Indigenous peoples were not represented to the extent that they should be. While trying to press their opinions into the government’s heads, they did not have enough political power to make a difference. All of the input that they would give and the opinions that they would have made no difference to the outcome of the Charlottetown Conference or Confederation.

While most people who have heard about the Charlottetown Conference know about the delegates from both the Maritimes colonies and the British North American colonies, there are many voices that have been left out along the way, the Aboriginal peoples being a big portion of them. They were the original owners of the land that the British and the French invaded, so they had a reason to give their opinions on the outcome of Confederation. Instead, their thoughts got oppressed by the other group’s power and while it would have made much more sense, there was not a spot offered for them at the Charlottetown Conference. The political leaders were terrified that the Aboriginals did not have their best interest in mind and would not think about the effect that their proposals would have on the country and would only be helpful to themselves. The delegates talked as if there was nothing or nobody missing and held the meeting to their own standards without a second thought. The outcome of the Charlottetown conference was that the government were going to work towards Confederation, something that was not run by the Aboriginals or any citizens for that matter.
