You answered a phone call from an insured who recently purchased an auto policy. She received her policy in the mail, reviewed it, and now has questions about her coverage. Her auto policy is located in Appendix B of the text. · Answer her questions by identifying the types and locations of policy provisions in Appendix B, and by describing the purpose of each of the provisions: o I’m not clear about my liability coverage on the Ford and Toyota. I don’t understand why they’re different amounts ($100,000 each person, $300,000 each accident, and $50,000 each accident). What does those amounts mean? If I get into an accident, what does this cover? o If I cause an accident in which I get seriously injured and have to pay related medical bills for, say, two years to come, does my policy cover that? o What if my car is struck by a hit-and-run driver? ...After reviewing the different multiple intelligences, I have come to the conclusion that my strongest intelligence is the interpersonal one. I also completed an assessment from my first web site www.literacyworks.org that also concluded that my strongest one is in fact, the social or interpersonal intelligence. Chapter two of our text describes the interpersonal intelligence to be, the ability to relate to others, noticing their moods, motivations, and feelings (social activity, cooperative learning, and team work) The first web site I visited was www.literacyworks.org. I first completed the assessment to reassure myself that I had chosen the strongest one for me from our text. After I completed the assessment it directed me to a page describing my results, which were, social or interpersonal intelligence. This web site reinforced that interpersonal was the strongest choice for me. A few thing mentioned on this site about this intelligence were, that these people love to talk, have good social skills, and like to learn from others. All of those statements fit me perfectly. The second site I visited was www.Idpride.net/learningstyles. This web site had even more information than the first one I visited. This web site had one statement that didn’t fit my personality. It said, “People who fall into the interpersonal intelligence group are great organizers.” I have a lot of skills but organization isn’t one of them. All of the other statements this site made about interpersonal...

...2. Outline the seven steps in a counseling interview. 1. In a nonthreatening manner, describe what you have observed. Talk about actual performance and not about vague concepts such as attitude or motivation. Do not threaten or intimidate the employee. 2. Ask the employee to comment on your observations. Encourage the employee to be open and honest. If you disagree with parts of the employee’s response, do so in a gentle manner. 3. If prior meetings have been held, briefly review what they accomplished. 4. With the employee’s input, identify the problem-solving techniques to be used. Do not attempt to solve the problem yourself, but guide the employee to resolve it alone. Be a good listener and let the employee talk. 5. Once a solution has been agreed upon, restate the actions to be taken and reemphasize your concern about the problem. 6. Always schedule a follow-up meeting, preferably in the near future. 7. Document the meeting. While this is not always necessary, it is usually a good idea. The documenting should be done while the session is still fresh in your mind. 5. ...Web 2.0 Olesya Kinda XBIS/219 Bernie Cory 08/02/2013 Web 2.0 is defined as a loose collection of information technologies and applications and of web sites that tend to use them (Rainer, page 146, 2009). The best way to describe web 2.0 to someone is along the way. Some people (like me) are visual people so opening Google chrome or internet explorer would be a faster way to describe Web 2.0. Web 2.0 is used for internet use, blogging, wikis, and or tagging. I would tell the person that web 2.0 is something that we use on a daily business whether on a computer or our phones. The great advantage with web 2.0 is that it is accessible any time of day. It allows us to connect to our peers on social networks such as LinkedIn or Facebook. This allows companies to view any important information with a click. Another big advantage that I see with Web 2.0 is that data is accessible by almost anyone. So if a company wants to go into business with another firm the smart thing would be to search the firm’s information and get all the data one may need. Of course when there are advantages there are also disadvantages. One downfall of web 2.0 is when an individual uses a source such as wikis it is not as credible. This is because anyone can create a wiki account and change other individuals work. The other disadvantage is that people are becoming much smarter with technology and know how to steal people’s information which can lead to stolen identities. Web 2.0 has had a great...

...JetBlue and Westjet: A Tale of Two IS Projects Week 8 Checkpoint Case Study Questions By: Cicely Sawin 3/21/2014 IT/205 Catherine Williams Over the past years, customers have been heavily relying on airline reservation systems to book their tickets, reserve seats, pay for the tickets and also check-in online. For customers, this has been a very convenient method and they are able to easily plan their trips. For the Airline companies, these systems have the whole flight inventory managed. They have all the flight information stored and records are maintained. It also provides a platform for communication between other airline companies for their “code-sharing plans” and agents or other ticketing offices can see real time information about the bookings and availability of seats. Since both parties rely on these systems they are of big importance to airline companies. For example, we see in the case of WestJet, the amount of chaos created after a delay of switch to another version of the system. Airline reservation systems have impacted operational activities and decision making. They have made it easier to maintain accounts with other airlines and internal processes between departments are more efficient since the “minus, plus” is done online. There has also been growth in faster service times which leads to increased customer satisfaction since customers can plan, book and pay online. Airline companies are able to make good strategic...

The steps to developing a flexible budget are first to identify the activity index and the relevant range of activity. The fourth and final step is to prepare the budget for selected increments of activity within the relevant range. What information is found on a flexible budget report? A flexible budget report is split into two sections. The first section would the production data for a selected activity index, such as direct labor hours. The second section is the cost data for variable fixed costs. A flexible budget contains the direct labor hours, variable costs (indirect materials, indirect labor, and utilities), and fixed costs (depreciation, supervision, and property taxes). How is that information used to evaluate performance? The information is used to evaluate a manager’s performance in production and cost control. It is a way to tell if the company was over or under their original prediction for the time period. It is also a way to judge what the future of the company may look like. ...The current worldwide estimated human population at this point in time is 6,798,328,762 people (U.S. Census Bureau, 2009). This number constantly changes due the birth or reproduction of human life. Another contributing factor to human population changes is the death rate. Looking more closely at what sparks birth and death rates to change, we find that different eras or historical events lead to changes in the human population. One event that generated large a large death toll was the Black Plague (Lewis, 2004). A more recent event that could potentially spark a decrease in population would be the Pandemic Flu. An example of a historical event that contributes to increases in human population is the Industrial Revolution. The industrial revolution created a higher demand on products and services which called for families to expand in order to cover the needs. Another example is the creation of medications that cured illnesses that were considered incurable in past years. One such medication is the antibiotic. When the antibiotic was invented, it cured ailments and illnesses that had at one time been considered terminal. It also prolonged the life of many individuals, which ultimately led to less death. Other contributions included enhancements to sanitation, and agriculture (Lewis, 2004). These enhancements helped by preventing infection and increasing the health of the population. Both of these enhancements assisted in increasing the lifespan of humans. The human population...

...but just made some silly errors. We then worked on finding angles in a parallelogram. This honestly required me to dig down deep into high school geometry. However, I was able to help the group, and try my best to explain it using analogies and stories in a way the students would understand. At the end, all the sophomore students in my group had a deeper understanding of quadrilaterals, and were able to achieve this deep understanding by collaborating thoughts and ideas, and also exchanging what they think the next step should be with one another. The bell rung. The second sophomore class walked in. Again, this class was more enthusiastic and were eager to learn than the very first class. Again, I was paired with about 8 students working on geometry. These students were a bit side tracked, having conversations about others in the school, their future, etc. But when it was time to be serious, they knew when to be serious. We first worked on a problem with a right triangle using trigonometry. Again, I had to dig down deep into high school math. It took us about 20 minutes to figure out the question as the students were confused, and I did not remember. Once the question was figured out, I was confident and able to explain what it was asking and made sure all the students understood. I even made the students re-do the question on a piece of paper to make sure that they actually understood the concepts. The next problem was a similar mid-segment...

...Retail establishments and department stores are some of the easiest kinds of companies to observe from the outside. Macy’s, Sears, and Wal-Mart are my choice companies because I frequent all of these stores, and they are each different in their own way Macy’s is geared toward the middle and upper class with the styles and prices of their cloths. Sears is a common household name that carries clothes, make-up, appliances, tools, and is affordable for the average American. Wal-Mart targets customers of all types because they carry just about everything that the average household needs at a very low price. Macy’s has nice enough employees who try to be helpful, but the only ones who will really tell you all about a product are the sales people at the make-up counter. Most likely because they make a commission off the products they sell. The average employees at Macy’s are unfamiliar with most of the inventory; they have one department and they only know that department. The people who shop at Macy’s are there for the products not the customer service. It is rare to see a manager on the sales floor. At Sears, employees are very knowledgeable about most of the store’s inventory. If the employee that you have found cannot help you they will find someone who can. Most of Sears’s employees are quite knowledgeable and eager to help you make your decision. It seems to me that they are just happy to help and not paid based on commission. Wal-Mart employees are usually young and semi knowledgeable...
