Cheech Marin currently owns one of Almaraz's most famous paintings, "Sunset Crash." Carlos Almaraz is a popular figure for early Chicano art. He was a member of an art group, in which they called themselves "Los Four."
In his piece entitled "Sunset Crash," he uses bright and bold colors to paint a tragic event. What he is creating by doing this is a metaphor. The metaphor is used to show group and individual struggle in his paintings. This artistic style was described as new and innovative during his time. The new style was able to break barriers and set new trends in Chicano art.
