Does the perspective of an adult differ from the perspective of a child? Generally, people see children as young, immature, curious, and sometimes, crazy. But their perspectives have very little difference. The perspective of an adult does not differ extremely from the perspective of a child, but children are more curious and naïve. An adult, possessing more knowledge, can reason and handle emotions better.
In the poem “Child Development”, Billy Collins depicts the childish act of name-calling. The poem says: Every day a new one arrives and is added to the repertoire. You Dumb Goopyhead,
You Big Sewerface, You Poop-on-the-Floor

But, they come to realize that they themselves also give people a hard time. Adults can realize this, but children cannot since the poem states that the children would "yell from knee level" (Collins 10), not knowing that they would get themselves in trouble.
In To Kill a Mockingbird, Jem, being excited, is confident in winning the trial. After celebrating Atticus’s closing statement, he then asks Atticus, “’We’ve won, haven’t we?’” (Lee 276). Later, he asks, “’You think they’ll acquit them that fast?’” (Lee 277). But, “Atticus opened his mouth to answer, but shut it and left us.” (Lee 277). This shows that Atticus does not want to ratify Jem’s prediction; his refusal to answer to Jem implies that he knew the jury would not acquit Tom.
After the trial ends, Tom is found guilty, and Jem, “his face streaked with angry tears” (Lee 284), tells Atticus that the trial wasn’t fair. In addition, Jem says, “’It ain’t right, Atticus.’” (Lee 284). This shows that Jem knows that the trial was not fair, which is correct. After that, Atticus replies, “’No son, it’s not right.’” (Lee 284). Therefore, Atticus could accept the fact that he lost his trial due to the racism in Maycomb County.
