When the car is moving and a crush happens, even though the car would stop by the outside force, however, the child will continue moving and the child would hurt. According to Newton’s second law, F=ma, where F stands for Force, m stands for mass and a stands for acceleration. ...Numerous studies demonstrated that proper use of child restraint devices can help reduce the fatality rate in vehicle crashes. However, only a few number of countries around the world adopted some laws to implement the safety of the young children. Currently in the United States, child safety seats and seat belts law regulations vary by states and they are mainly based on the age, height and weight of the children. Many countries are yet to adopt this law that can potentially save the lives of many infants and children. In my country, I grew up riding in the front seat of the car with no seat belt on which is pretty common things to see in other countries as well. Infant car seat is unheard of to people and airbags doesn’t even work on most cars. Babies are cradle by someone while children will often sit on the lap or small children will be moving around while the car is in motion. Although laws requiring seat-belt use are now in force in all 50 states, many parents fail to use safety restraints. This is the simplest and easiest way to keep a young child safe. Children at this age level are less likely to be injured as pedestrians than are older children, as parents correctly recognize that young children cannot cross streets safely in the absence of an adult. Why School Buses Are Not Required to Have Seat Belts

...about seat belts? Why don’t school buses have them? The short answer is that small school buses do in fact require seat belts; large school buses, with a few exceptions do not. Seat belts are not required on the larger school buses because both the U.S. Department of Transportation and Transport Canada, have determined that compartmentalization is the preferred occupant protection system. To explain these differences in a greater detail we begin as follows; a small bus is categorized as a bus under 10,000lbs in weight, which are required by federal law to have seat belt systems on them due to the fact that they are closer in nature to the size of the average automobile and/or light trucks. The federal government requires a level of occupant protection similar to those that are the standards of cars and trucks for a bus that falls into this category. Larger buses typically will weigh 23,000 lbs or more. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s same regulatory update stated that local school districts were best equipped to decide whether the large “Type C” ( which are the conventional school buses) and Type D ( transit style vehicle with its body installed upon a chassis, with the engine mounted in the front, mid-ship, or rear) school buses have the seat belts. If the answer is yes, the manufacturing guidelines for how to best install these restraints comes into play. Many parents are worried about the contradiction between the need to use seat belts...

Seatbelt Safety

...Important Seatbelt Safety Facts and Tips Here are some seatbelt safety tips that you should know: • Airbags alone are only 42 percent effective at providing protection. The absolute best combination for adults riding in a car is a lap-shoulder belt with an airbag. • Check all the seatbelts in your car periodically for breaks, frays, looseness and workability. It will cost you far less to fix a broken seatbelt than it will cost if you're in a serious accident with a broken belt. • Most accidents occur during the day so buckle up and practice driving safety at work • One person to a seatbelt; never double people up. • Your shoulder belt should be worn close to your body and over, never under your shoulder. The lap belt should be worn against your body and low across your hips. • Pregnant women always need to wear their seatbelts. It will not in anyway hurt your unborn baby. Child Abuse/Neglect

...2012) Injuries are the leading cause of death and disability for children in the United States (CDC). Injuries are not always preventable regardless of their nature. A common sense approach can lead to a reduction in injuries. Driving safely including the proper use of seatbelts or car seats, removal of plastic bags from young children, teaching swimming and supervision when in water, removal of house hold toxins, fire safety, and use of bicycle helmets are taught in school to kids (HHS). The CDC calls for efforts to reduce injuries by focusing on what term the 3 P’s; education, enforcement, and engineering. Education is used by the schools to teach children basic safety. New parents are often taught the proper way to use child restraint seats in the car. Locally, in my area the state police have no fault safety checks in which your car seat and the use of it can be examined for proper fit. These clinics are conducted in a big box retailer’s parking lot so that all a parent needs to do is drive up. If fault is found in the use of the car safety seat, education is given out rather than a citation. The second E is enforcement. Examples include laws and ordinances requiring the use of child safety seats and bicycle helmets and enforcement of speeding limits and healthy housing codes. Adequately enforcing laws, ordinances, and regulations increases their effectiveness (CDC 2012). Lastly, Engineering...
