Children of toddler age are growing rapidly & are very active, so they tend to need lots of energy & nutrients as part of a healthy diet. Therefore you should encourage your child to eat a healthy, varied diet.
Toddlers have high energy requirements compared to an adult as they are extremely active. As they have a smaller stomach they need more calories & nutrients, it is very important not to give toddlers low fat food too often, as this is not suitable for them, they need foods that are high in fat, to make sure that they get enough energy, alongside the protein, vitamins & minerals, as protein is crucial to ensuring the proper & healthy growth of toddlers, vitamins help with vision, growth, development, immune functions, reproduction, bones, teeth & also helps with colds, minerals help the body to form red blood cells, this is important for growth, sexual development & reproduction.
You should give your child at least ½ pint of milk a day, you should give them whole cow’s milk rather than lower fat milk, as whole fat milk provides fat for nerve & brain development, children need the fat for these to develop. It is recommended that children aged between 6 months to 5 years should be given supplements providing vitamins A,C & D, this is particularly important if they do not eat a very varied diet.
Childhood is an important time for growth & development & children need a good supply of protein & other nutrients including calcium, iron & vitamins A & D. Calcium is as key building block for strong healthy bones, calcium also makes sure that muscle & nerves work properly. Iron is needed to make haemoglobin (oxygen for red blood cells), without iron the body can’t make enough red blood cells, therefore tissues & organs won’t get the oxygen that they need. Vitamin A is

This chronic disease causes serious health complications including renal failure, heart disease, stroke, and blindness.
