Language is very powerful, if it was not for language and communication we would not be living the life we live today. I realized the power of language when, I encountered a situation where I was not able to communicate to a group of people, in a way that they understood me. This situation occurred in Bulgaria, when I got lost on my big day, at Junior Judo World Championship. The ability to communicate is what made the world such an amazing place. If language and communication were never developed we would have never progressed to where we are today. The human race would be living like caveman for eternity. Language and communication is the root of success. It is what makes us so smart and gives us the ability to educate ourselves. Language and communication is the reason why the world has become so advanced, the reason we have so much medication for sickness and illnesses. It is also the reason why our world is so technologically advanced today. Language and communication is what makes the world go around. Lack of communication would cause tension among each. Without language or communication the world would be a complicated place. As a little kid I was always active, I would always pick fights with my classmates and kids in my age group where I felt comfortable in my home country Georgia. I understood and Spoke Georgian and knew most people in my town, which is where I felt powerful. Until the day my parents told me we would be moving to the United States, I was in shock. I did not speak or understand English. I did not even know how to say hello. When I arrived to the United States I soon began school in the fourth grade. I struggled extremely because, I had no friends and I did not understand a word my teacher was saying. I hated it here. My father knew I had to be distracted, and learn English through making friends. My father also knowing my encounters with

Children of the Holocaust

...During the Holocaust, millions of Jews, gypsies, and members of other groups were persecuted and murdered by Nazi occupied Europe. However, many forget to acknowledge that among these were children. It may never be known exactly how many children were murdered but it is said that as many as some 1.5 million children may have fell victim to the Nazi party. Although children were not a main target of the Nazi's violence, they did fall subject to persecution along with their parents. Jewish children were first exposed to persecution in school. Many of their friends who were not Jewish began not socializing with them and even began to treat them in prejudice ways. This was soon followed with the announcement that, "German Jewish children were prohibited from attending German schools (www.mtsu.edu/.baustin/children.html). The life of children had quickly become as torn apart as their parents. However, there were more efforts to help the children escape the grips of the Nazi rule. Before 1939, several thousand children were able to escape in "Kindertransports to the Netherlands, Great Britain, Palestine, and the United States (www.mtsu.edu/.baustin/children.html). Those who were not able to escape were placed in ghettos and transit camps. These ghettos and transit camps served as the foreground to the death and slave labor camps that would soon follow. It was written in a Jewish diary, A Jewish ghetto in the traditional sense is impossible; certainly a closed ghetto is...

Children of the Holocaust

...Throughout the movie, "The Holocaust", the phrase, "I just do my job," was usually the only excuse most people who committed crimes against the Jews could come up with. For example, when Helena and Rudy Weiss were staying in Kiev, the city was bombed. During the bombing, one of the Nazi soldiers, who happened to be Heinz Muller, a friend of Inga's family, was hit by falling debris. Hesitant, Rudy helped Muller escape from the collapsing building, gave him some water, and asked him why he was taking part in the mistreatment of the Jews. "I obey orders," Muller replied, unrepentant about what he did. Also, when Bertha Weiss was sent to the gas chambers in Auschwitz, Dr. Joseph Weiss asked the Kapo what happened to her. The lady bluntly retorted, "Don't blame me, I just take orders." Whether to keep a job, remain loyal to their cause, or just because they had no other excuse, everyone used that phrase to justify what they did wrong against the Jews. Anti-Semitism and unfair grudges are two factors that can cause Genocide. During the movie, Eric Dorf claimed he did not feel bad about Kristallnacht or what happened to the Jews, because he said the Jews provoked it. Even though Kristallnacht was the first major pogrom, a government sponsored attack on the Jews, and was terribly destructive, Eric said that they killed Christ and they deserved what they got (The Holocaust). In addition, Heydrich believed that Germans and the Aryan race was superior to the Jewish race and they had to...

Jewish Children In The Holocaust

...select few. Suffering is an experience no one revels in, though some humans, especially children, take the anguish of suffering more profoundly. For a child, the immaturity they lack allows suffering to be more punitive, and therefore, the pain children withstand is intense and appalling to watch. The Holocaust was a ruinous part of the world’s history in which many people suffered, and the most prominent group of people that faced hardships were the Jewish people. Not only adults suffered, but children encountered misery equally, if not more. Jewish children played the role as the victims in the crimes of the Holocaust, as they were segregated violently, killed maliciously, and stripped wholly of the childhood they could have had. To begin, Jewish children suffered notoriously from separation, whether it be from the general public, or even their homes and families. With separation, came physical miseries, as well as mental calamities for the young Jewish children. Separation came in many forms: Jewish people were segregated from public places, Jewish neighborhoods were isolated from non-Jewish communities, and Jewish children...

Hitler's Anti-Semitic Attitudes Towards Their Children From The Holocaust

...he started anti-Semitic attitudes towards the Jews. Jewish families were concerned about their children because his opposition towards the Jews grew more. People in Britain and other European countries responded by trying to find a way to save Jews. The British government and the Jewish parents saved Jewish children from the Holocaust by working together to get the children out of Germany. One reason is why they did this is because Jewish parents were worrying about Adolf Hitler getting more powerful. As he got more powerful he would not like the Jews more and more. In the text it states that,"Many people, Germans included, were terrified of Adolf Hitler's extremely fast rise to power.” The author ,"This growing tension was causing a lot of fear in many Jewish families, who were quickly noticing Hitler's anti-Semitic policies.". My evidence backs up my claim because it states why Jewish parents were beginning to be afraid of Hitler and that Hitler was getting powerful. Another reason is that many Jews were concerned about living in Nazi places. They feared that the Nazis would hurt them. The author states that,"Many Jews sensed danger coming and fled Germany and surrounding countries,...
