To whom it may concern, With regards to the Aston language centre website, I am writing to apply for the "Business Internships in China" position. Having one of the oldest cultures in the world as well as some of the world’s most iconic landmarks and culinary delights, for as long as I can remember I have been intrigued and fascinated by the tradition and rich history of the Chinese culture. Having recently graduated from the prestigious University of Ulster with a merit in MA Business Studies with Sport management I am interested in applying my business acumen in a country which is renowned for business and trade and has experienced such recent phenomenal growth. In particular, the Northern Ireland economy is currently in recession and in order to recover, allot of emphasis is being placed on growing the private sector. I therefore have the ambition to go to China, embed myself in the culture and business language, so that I may build by skills in International strategy and investment. As a result, Upon my return to Northern Ireland I will be able to apply the knowledge and skills I have learned to aid the process of exportation of goods from Northern Ireland to China, in order to grow Northern Ireland’s private sector and encourage the recovery from the longstanding downturn in the economy we currently find ourselves.

Furthermore, I come from a strong sporting background having represented county, provincial and national level at a variety of sports and also competed internationally at the lawn tennis championships held at Eaton college in Windsor, England. For the past few years I have used my expertise in sport to give back to the community I live in by coaching aspiring tennis and badminton players at my local sports club. This opportunity to coach and instruct children and young adults has greatly improved my communication and interpersonal skills, enabling myself to forge strong and lasting relationships with colleagues and people I meet in a relatively short amount of time. This passion and enthusiasm for sport was further bolstered after witnessing the extraordinary scenes at the opening and closing ceremonies at the Beijing Olympics in 2008. The opportunity to see the Bird’s nest stadium and Olympic village where all those iconic sporting moments took place is another reason why I wish to be involved in this Business internship in China.

Finally, In my ordinary life I will never have the opportunity to visit china, and would therefore love the opportunity to be a part of this programme. I have comprehensive skills set which will allow me to make a considerable contribution to the programme. Furthermore, I will benefit greatly from the programme as well as the benefit the Northern Ireland economy will receive, and as such, this makes me an extremely motivated and enthusiastic candidate to have on the programme.

Thank you for your consideration of my application, I look forward to discussing this opportunity with you further.

Yours faithfully and kindest regards,
Joe Bloggs

Cover letters as referred to in the U.S have multiple names internationally like letters of interest and motivation letters. Regardless of the name the process is still the same however typically self-photos of the applying individual are attached to a cover letter, resume or both whereas in the U.S, photos are not appropriate attachments when looking for employment. Cover Letter

...All cover letters should: Explain why you are sending a resume. Don't send a resume without a cover letter. Don't make the reader guess what you are asking for; be specific: Do you want a summer internship opportunity, or a permanent position at graduation; are you inquiring about future employment possibilities? Tell specifically how you learned about the position or the organization — a flyer posted in your department, a web site, a family friend who works at the organization. It is appropriate to mention the name of someone who suggested that you write. Convince the reader to look at your resume. The cover letter will be seen first. Therefore, it must be very well written and targeted to that employer. Call attention to elements of your background — education, leadership, experience — that are relevant to a position you are seeking. Be as specific as possible, using examples. Reflect your attitude, personality, motivation, enthusiasm, and communication skills. Provide or refer to any information specifically requested in a job advertisement that might not be covered in your resume, such as availability date, or reference to an attached writing sample. Indicate what you will do to follow-up. In a letter of application — applying for an advertised opening — applicants often say something like "I look forward to hearing from you." However, if you have further contact info (e.g. phone number) and if...

Career Fair Narrative Report

...In preparation for career fair, I focused on how to present myself and what companies I wanted to visit. I updated my resume in response to the suggestions made when I turned it in for one of the previous assignments in Business 101. In order to keep a professional appearance, I bought special resume paper at the Illini Union Bookstore rather than using standard paper. Once I had my resume up to date and my business professional attire ready, I researched the companies attending career fair. I looked on Handshake to see the companies attending and wrote down the ones I wanted to check out. As a result, I already had a game plan before attending the fair. As I was heading to the fair, I met someone on the bus who was also going, so we decided on being somewhat like partners. Therefore, my first look at career fair wasn’t as overwhelming because I had comfort in the fact that I was with someone also experiencing the fair for the first time. For the first five minutes, I got a map of the fair and circled the companies I wanted to visit (from my research the night before) on the map. The fair was huge, so mapping out my route helped scale it down. Once I mapped out where I wanted to go, I had to break apart with my partner because we had different companies we wanted to visit. By then, I met my first recruiter. My first interaction with a recruiter was for Teach For America. There were relatively few people surrounding the booth, so greeting the recruiter was fairly easy....

...Resources representative with TRON to build core human resource and business expertise skills. Assignments within this job posting include labor relations benefits, talent acquisition among others. The hiring decision process included some challenges and difficulties. At times, not every member was present at the same time in order to collaborate live about the strengths and weaknesses of each applying candidate. Hiring the right candidate was our choice and responsibility to insure that we are avoiding a future employee that could present threats or problems for TRON. This responsibility put a lot of pressure on my hiring committee. Also, it was difficult when candidates would not submit the assignments in a timely manner, such as the cover letter, resume, or online interview stream. This led to difficulty in collaborating and discussing the candidates’ job eligibility. When it came time to hire an individual, we went through a series of questions to assess each candidate. First we simply asked the hiring committee “is the applicant qualified to perform the job?”. We needed to think twice before hiring an applicant into a job that is outside his or her set of skills and knowledge. Next we asked, “is the applicant enthusiastic?”. It is important for an applicant to express enthusiasm for the job they are applying for because the more excited they are, the more effort they will put into the job. Showing enthusiasm can point toward the applicant’s work ethic and performance capabilities...

...Cover Letters and other career correspondence Your letter is your introduction —it continues or starts a conversation about work or education Just as you start a conversation by introducing yourself, a résumé should always be sent with an accompanying letter. Picture yourself sitting face-to-face with a person doing work that is interesting. What would you say? What do you want to ensure they know about you before you leave the room? Your letter is a chance to make a great first impression or continue a conversation that has already been started. Your letter is something employers expect —it shows your professionalism and helps them get to know you Every time you submit a résumé, you should attach an accompanying letter. Even if they don’t specifically request it, employers expect documentation from you that shows your professionalism and potential contributions. What better way to start than by using a cover letter? Your letter should clearly show the match —it illustrates the connections between you and the work Some employers scan your résumé first, while others start with the cover letter. To increase your chances of being invited to an interview, ensure that both documents clearly show the match between what the employer needs and what you can contribute. Once you have made the match, remember that the letter is your chance to stand out as an individual from the many other qualified applicants.
