The page with Christ washing the feet of his disciples was created in a German monastery near Reichenua at about 1000. Discussing the iconographic meaning of the page with Christ washing the feet of his disciples will require an understanding of the art of the age. Jesus washing the feet of the disciples (John 13:1–17) occurred in the upper room, just prior to the Last Supper and has significance in three ways. For Jesus, it was the display of His humility and His servanthood. For the disciples, the washing of their feet was in direct contrast to their heart attitudes at that time. For us, washing feet is symbolic of our role in the body of Christ.

Art Tem Paper

...The Human Figure in Art Student Name University The human figure in art, sculpture and other art forms involves the study and appreciation of the beauty of the human body (Human figure (aesthetics) , 2013). It can involve the body shape, including different postures, such as sitting, standing, sleeping, or even while in motion, walking or running. I think that the human figure is one of the most interesting and beautiful to look at, and it absolutely amazing to look at how much the human figure in art has changed over time. Different cultures believed that the human body was beautiful in different ways. Some show humans in the art as perfect and almost God like, while others show them in a more realistic form. Another amazing part about the human figure is not only are we observing the way a body looks, but also we are feeling the emotions that these characters are portraying. This is what makes human figure so fascinating. In the following essay I will be selecting fifteen examples of the human body in art. One of the oldest sculptures discovered to date, was carved using simple stone tools. It is a tiny limestone figurine of a woman named the Venus of Willendorf. This sculpture was named after its find spot in Willendorf Austria. It is said that the Venus of Willendorf was made anywhere between 28,000 and 25,000 BCE, and the artist is unknown. The sculpture is tiny, and features anatomical exaggeration. It typifies Paleolithic representations of women, whose...

Servan Leadership Theory

...Servant-Leadership Theory from a Socially Constructed World View and a Biblical World View Mark J. Dixon Jr. Liberty University Abstract Servant-Leadership Theory has been a progressive theory in which much study has been done. Robert Greenleaf began using the term servant leadership to encourage leaders to first want to serve. There are two different world views discussed in this research paper that will shed light into what it takes to be a servant leader and how it can be successful if there is a full understanding of the theory present. There is the secular and the biblical world view in which differences in the two are identified. Servant-Leadership is meant to be more than just a way to see positive outcomes in a business, but it also transfers into effecting people’s lives. An attempt to enhance understanding and the question trying to be answered here is what separates the secular view of Servant-Leadership Theory from the Biblical worldview. This paper examines the characteristics and goals of servant-leadership though both worldviews to give a better understanding of servant-leadership theory. Keywords: servant-leadership, characteristics, biblical, secular Servant-Leadership Theory from a Socially Constructed World View and a Biblical World View There has been much attention given to leadership theories since the introduction of Servant-Leadership Theory by Robert Greenleaf in 1970. Greenleaf’s intent for servant-leadership is to help not only the leader...

Servant Leadership

...Running Head: SERVANT LEADERSHIP Servant Leadership BUSI 502 – Servant Leadership Professor Kahlib Fischer Rachel Murray Liberty University October 9, 2010 Abstract In the process of interviewing a servant leader, this paper investigates the defining behavior of servant leadership from a practical and philosophical standpoint. There are practical behavioral characteristics that can be uniformly integrated into the business infrastructure that is founded upon Biblical principles yet not used as a pool to proselytize. Through research and group discussion boards, this paper analyzes the institutional applications and the interpersonal relationships necessary to be an effective servant leader within any level of management and work environment. It is through the process of comparing and contrasting the interviewees’ statements that servant leadership is better understood. Servant Leadership Literature Review History is consumed with pictures and historical facts that have defined the ‘Great Leaders’ of the human race. When one investigates the qualities that have placed men and women into the limelight as heroes who successfully lead people, organizations and nations, there are characteristics and styles that have brought them into a place where many would follow them. However, there have been leaders of gangs, mobs, and cults that have the same characteristics...

Leadership Lessons of Jesus Christ

...Greg Meholick Research Paper The Leadership Lessons of Jesus Christ When we talk about Jesus as a leader, we may imply two different forms: Jesus as the only Son of God, God of the universe, or the risen Christ as being one with God; or Jesus as the 1st century flesh and blood human being, the historical figure. Since the purpose of studying leadership is to improve one's own leadership skills, it makes sense to analyze Jesus' applicable traits, actions, and accomplishments as a good leader—in his historical role—so his leadership skills can be feasibly related to ourselves as human beings. I will attempt to analyze, using modern leadership criteria, how Jesus of Nazareth, the Jew and carpenter's son, was an effective spiritual leader of his time. Let us first examine the leadership attitude Jesus showed in his ministry. According to the address Thomas Cronin delivered at the Western Academy of Management in 1982, part of what makes leaders appealing is their confidence and faith: Leaders have those indispensable qualities of contagious self-confidence, unwarranted optimism, and incurable idealism that allow them to attract and mobilize others to undertake tasks these people never dreamed they could undertake. (To Lead or Not to Lead, Unit One 36) Jesus had infectious self-confidence that attracted all types of people to his cause. A teacher of the law said to Jesus, “Teacher, I will follow your wherever you go” (Matt. 8:19). He was also an...

Supernatural by Brother Branham

...French, German, Russian, Norwegian, Hindi, and many other languages. Supernatural: the Life of William Branham took me 17 years to complete. I was 34 when I started and 51 when I finished. To put that into perspective, my four children were in grade school when I began writing this biography. By the time I finished, three of my children were married and I had nine grandchildren. During the 17 years I worked on this project, my life had its ups and downs. I want to thank everyone who prayed for me during those 17 years. Finally I want to thank my four children—Benaiah, Betsy, Shiloh and Hannah—for their patience, their understanding, their encouragement, and their never-failing love. Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. —II Corinthians 2:14 (NKJV) 2 Introduction William Branham is not the first man in history to say that he talked with an angel; but...

The Controversy and Practice of Islam

...The Controversy and The Practice of Islam Hanane Saoui SOC 350 Cultural Diversity in Professions Professor Carolyn Sawtell February 23, 2014 Islam is practiced around the globe, not only in the Middle East or by Arabs “One in every five people worldwide is a Muslim, some 1.3 billion believers. Islam is the world's fastest growing religion and it has spread across the globe.”(Handwerk, 2003). So, the fact that a very large number of followers of Islam around the world are from different races, ethnicities, and cultural background makes this topic important to the study of cultural diversity. This research aims at understanding the importance of Islam in many cultures in which the Islam is shaped or it shapes the cultures in many Muslim countries. It also aim at discussing the teachings of Islam and also to analyze how these teachings are interpreted and practiced in many Muslim countries including the middle east, in the United States, in the Great Britain, and the Asian countries represented by Indonesia. It will also be discuss how Islam is understood in each of those countries’ culture, what similarities and differences are between Islam, Christianity, and Judaism and how the cultures are impacted from the Islamic teachings in different countries. Baking

...HISTORY OF BAKING On today’s market there is a never ending variety of the most delicious sweets and pastries to please both the palate and the eyes. We have become so used to this diverse range of bread, mouth watering pastries and cakes that seldom we ask just how they come into existence. I guess my initial interest in the origin of the baking industry was not aroused by accident; rather I suspect it was kindled by a chain of events occurring earlier in my life... My Grandfather owned a small hotel and bakery in Switzerland and when he retired my father who was an excellent pastry cook continued the business. As a small child I spent many hours watching my dad at work and later followed in his footsteps almost as a matter of course. Then again, I have a suspicion that it may have been “fate-by-design” that made me take up pastry-cooking. The question still remains, was my career pre-determined by the fact that my grandfather had thousands of letterheads printed for his bakery which included his name? The prospect of a hefty quantity discount would no doubt have made perfect sense to my frugal fore bearer; it must have been so much cheaper getting all this printing done in a big way. Grandfather should have realised (and I suspect that he might have) that there was not the slightest chance that any one generation could ever use up this huge mountain of stationery. Granddad’s first name “Fritz” was also my father’s first name and when I was born there was never any question...

The focus of the credit union is to help its members save, borrow, and receive affordable financial services. One way is by offering higher interest rates on savings accounts which can be important to people in general but also to the young population who are just starting to save for college or some other long term item such as a car. Typically, credit unions charge lower fees compared to banks and provide credit at competitive rates. Like any other business, Credit Unions must have enough income/ assets to cover expenses related to running a business or risk the possibility of becoming insolvent. Lending money to members is a source of income for credit unions. When borrowers default on this lent money, this puts a credit union at risk and causes tougher rules on responsible lending. They are also known for providing service at the personal level by helping their members plan for the future. The first credit union was founded in southern Germany in the year 1864 by...
