...countries and kingdoms. Even today, it plays a big part in who we, as Americans, are and how we react with other countries, such as Saudi Arabia. Despite the differences between the big religions, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam that cause many big wars, genocides, and hatred. There are still some similarities and instances in history where the religions have peacefully co-existed. The main similarity between these three religions is that they all believe in one God. And in my mind, the same God viewed and worshiped in a different way. Another similarity is everyone is a child of Abraham in one way or another. Additionally, all believe there is a way to communicate with God through prayer and believe God speaks to them through coincidences and prophets. Although, in today’s era, any prophets would be seen as lunatics so mostly God’s words are seen through the abnormalities of the everyday life. One of the Holy Scriptures open to a much needed passage. A sudden calmness in a shouting match. A warm smile from a stranger. A feeling of determination when met with controversy and uncertainty. All these things are often...

Religion

...Theological Similarities Theological Similarities Theological Similarities Historically and theologically, Christianity has a close relationship with Judaism. Jesus, the twelve disciples, the author of most of the New Testament, and the members of the earliest Christian churches were all Jews. Jesus' family followed Jewish customs and Jesus frequently quoted the Hebrew Bible. Jesus' followers believed him to be the messiah. Despite its Jewish origins, it was not long before Christianity regarded itself as something other than a new Jewish sect. The first Christian council, convened by the apostles, concluded that pagan converts to Christianity did not have to follow Jewish ritual laws. Soon, converts to Christianity were almost exclusively pagans and Christianity moved further away from Judaism. Judaism insists on a notion of monotheism, the idea that there is One God. Jews don’t understand this idea; God cannot be made up of parts, even if those parts are mysteriously united. The Christian notion of the Trinity is that God is made up of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Such a view, even if called monotheistic because the three parts are, by divine mystery, only one God, is incompatible with the Jewish view that such a division is possible. The Jewish idea is that God is one. This idea allows for God's unity and uniqueness as a creative force. Thus, for Jews, God is the creator of all that we like and all that we don't. There is no evil force with...

Messianic Judaism

...An Outside Perspective of Messianic Judaism John W. Stroud HUM/130 November 28, 2010 Terry Barnes An Outside Perspective of Messianic Judaism Many people are born and raised in a religion without ever feeling complete or whole. There are those born and raised Jewish but never felt Judaism provided the answers for which they sought. These unsatisfied Jews have often looked to other religions for their answers. Many of those answers have been found in a form of Judaism that is often looked down upon by the more traditional Jews. This Messianic Judaism combines the core beliefs of Christianity with the traditional Jewish lifestyle. This combination of two distinct religions has shown the world that a religion can allow its members to maintain their traditional lifestyle while providing them with the spiritual nourishment they long for. Messianic Judaism Messianic Judaism is a branch of Judaism that believes Yeshua or Jesus was the Son of God and the Messiah as foretold by the prophets in the Old Testament of the Bible. Messianic Judaism also believes that the Bible, which consists of the Tenach or Holy Scriptures and the B’rit Hadasha or New Covenant, is the only infallible and authoritative word of God (Union of Messianic Jewish Congregations, 2008). This belief includes that the Bible comes from divine inspiration and its teachings are the final authority in matters of faith and how to practice that faith (International Alliance of Messianic Congregations and Synagogues...
